Great news It will be before the final boss - but you don't need to restart - there's a savegame made automatically just before 'the point of no return' in the main game. Thanks for rolling out the changes to those without the expansion too - for a few reasons (mostly money), I'll be waiting until part 2 comes out to buy both.

Dissapointed

For saved games - on some setups (like mine - i5 8GB RAM Win7) it takes a while for the game to read the saved games folder - waiting a few minutes after boot-up , before opening the program, should allow you to load the game as normal. -
Aloth's Grimoire broken?
Silent Winter replied to kungfujoe's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't think there are any differences in the grimoires, so using another, if it works, will allow you to continue. I've not encountered this bug myself, so I can't say more than that. -

Explore, fight, die, reload, avoid those enemies until later, explore more, talk to people, explore more, use the map, check the journal, explore more, etc -
Leveling up Question
Silent Winter replied to jacksonbenete's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Experience is awarded for completing objectives - quests or parts of quests. Also for certain other actions like disarming traps, picking locks and completing the bestiary entries on animals. XP is given to party members equally. Playing solo - there's a bonus to XP for each party-member less than the full 6 - but it's not equal to 6 times the XP if you play solo. So you'll level faster but not 6 times faster. -

Explore everywhere - use the map to see where you've been - you'll find an exit eventually. Failing that - look up a completed map online from a walkthrough and use that for a hint. -
Least Liked Companions
Silent Winter replied to Primislas's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
^Agreed. BG companions were the same: Imoen tags along coz she's your buddy, Minsc tags along to save Dynaheir, who in turn tags along because you saved her, Quayle tags along because you're heading East....or West, or North, or South, Etc. BG2: Pretty much only Jaheira, Minsc, Yoshimo and Imoen have a plot inticately tied to finding Irenicus. Viconia joins you because you save her, Edwin to find a scroll, Korgan because you buy him a drink...and are willing to find that book, Aerie because she wants to see the world Etc. They all have their own unrelated side-quests and then carry on with you and yours. I'd like the same from PoE expansion and Sequel companions. It's fine to have someone like Aloth, who's related to the Leaden Key, and Kana, who's pursued by them because he's looking for 'forbidden' knowledge, or Durance, who's related to the godhammer bomb - but too many like that (without a PS:T reason for it) would be silly. -

Have you found a recording? I can't seem to find anything but the live stream which is over. How can I watch this? Link above to codex article - contains a link to twitch recording started at 5hrs 30 - start of PoE bit. http://www.rpgcodex.net/article.php?id=9947 http://www.twitch.tv/twitch/v/6281592?t=5h30m30s

Windows xp?
Silent Winter replied to Zooberdude's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
i dont understand what you are trying to say and what is it you are agreeing with. You said having only 4GB RAM might make 64-bit OS a bit pointless - I'm suggesting otherwise - only if it's less than 4GB might I agree. It depends on the rest of the setup too, of course. The thread isn't going in a redundant direction as you said - it's going in an unknown direction. If we knew OP couldn't run 64-bit, it would be more redundant (though checking out Linux on 32-bit is still worthwhile to see if you like it). -
It'd be really weird if you couldn't, as this is an expansion, not a sequel, and the trailer starts off from Caed Nua, rebuilt by "you." So yeah, I think it's safe to assume that we can continue playing with our current characters. But...but...what if I left the place to rot? (Eastern Barbican not withstanding) and I think Wintery-snowy places are popular because they look cool (no pun intended) without needing even super-many poly's to model. Mayhaps the sequel or expansion 2 can deal with the archipelago :fingers crossed: $20 gets you one key, not two - confirmed by Devs in a previous update thread but I can't remember where. Makes sense though.

Windows xp?
Silent Winter replied to Zooberdude's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
My laptop has 4GB RAM (and i3) and is running Win7-64 just fine. (Though I play PoE on my desktop with 8GB RAM and a better processor) If there's LESS than 4GB, I'd agree. -
1.06 Hotfix Live on Steam
Silent Winter replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Thanks, I wouldn't have known otherwise, because it hasn't been announced yet. Gog Galaxy updates the game automatically. You say that like it's a good thing One of many reasons I'm happy to stick with good old gog (see what I did there?). With possibly undesirous game changes mid-game (like character attribute buffs/nerfs etc), I'd prefer to try a new patch with a new game, unless I'm very early game. At least I can look at the patch notes and see if it fixes something I need fixing before installing. So yay for choice. Can Galaxy's auto-update be toggled to 'off' ? Or is it all one big Galaxy bundle? -
Windows xp?
Silent Winter replied to Zooberdude's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
^What Aurelio said. I was suggesting you try it out to see if you can get along with it. If you find it easy enough, you could get the game then. Make sure your hardware can run the 64-bit OS (again, try it out for yourself, see what performance you get). -
^yeah, I've seen arrows change direction after passing through the initial target (in PoE, obviously ) There's no indicator as to whether it will on a given shot, though. (And I don't know if this is an invisible cone with a size affected by INT) So I think it's just the nearest one 'sort of behind' the target.
