I really don't get how you draw your conclusions like wtf. I'm 27, never had old guy fantazies "old guy fantazies" lol. I told how I saw Geralt and he's certainly not a fantasy to be, beside being too old, he's too dumb for one thing, which is why I also said if it were to be a adolescent fantasy for me, I'd need to create my own, younger Witcher. f.i. If I were playing my adolescent power fantasy I'd choose innocent-lovely-younger Triss instead of what the character has been clearly intended for, it never sit well choosing Triss. This is an adult story with artificial power fantasy hooks. I certainly enjoyed it but I think I'd have enjoyed it even more if I was older/had a daughter.

What?... how? Anything power fantasy related is to hook more people to the games/books. Medieval super-hero! F... YEAA! etc. The game/book has to be marketable. Once they got you to play their game, they hit you with all sorts of topics & dilemmas. Its your loss if you can't see past the increased libido of a Witcher. These comments remind me of people who are calling HBO series, porn, just cos there is 1 mins(usually less) of sex/nudity in an hour.

So....he was created to be a whiny bitch, and somehow that makes it...better? Nope he's a successful bitch which bound to get **** for being successful. My inner adolescent power fantasizing-self wants to create my own younger Witcher who could get with Ciri but I'm stuck with this ****ing old dude who just wants his daughter to be safe and leave this life before him, he wants a steady job instead of city-hopping and spend the rest of his days(rather long years) with Yennefer(preferably). I'm sorry but I can't see any adolescent fantasy in this, if anything this is a retirement fantasy.

I'd like there to be a quest to find a Priest of Eothas or a settlement guided by a Priest of Eothas in which whoever you talk to would tell you to speak to the "Priest" instead. When we find the Priest we will be SHOCKED to learn that he's in fact Durance, who sought out Eothas before us and got forgiven somehow and now he no more has pox scars and has white hair & long white beard and is now called [to]Lerance

It wasn't so "good" IMO. Reviewers were really generous. Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with all these changes & engine upgrades & adding other stuff and PoE1 would have had sold 2M instead of 1M by now. There is ZERO chance for there to be a [fundamental]difference between PoE1&2 as there were between DAO&DA2, neither with party downsize nor with The Great Unification. Its delusional or exaggerated talk. In the hands of the same guys&gals with additional support and that mouth watering feature list, it will only get better. Imagine the new features&changes Deadfire will have were already in PoE 1 and Obs announced that they'll remove them in the sequel for 1 additional party slot & vancian casting. Imagine it

For conversations, first I'd like to see the PC get in front of the NPC, even if the PC's in the back of our formation. For looting its fine the nearest person picking up the loot but for conversations...well, I guess its a nitpick of mine. And since the world will not pause in conversations this time around, companions should also move closer as we're conversing. Don't know about zooming but centering the camera on the one who's speaking could be good with camera moving instead of jumping between characters, tho there should be a delay for if we're getting through the conversation fast/skipping.

Torment is turn-based, Pillars is RTwP which makes it a lot more complicated for console controls. Tho radial menu for ability selection when you pause...might work. But still, positioning the party members could take way too much effort with a controller. Maybe they can give rest of the party to the hands of AI Customization(now they are making it) with good presets and lock the controls to player character I don't care if Pillars goes for consoles but if it means good biz for Obs and wouldn't hurt the quality/god forbid, dumbing down, like what happened to Dragon Age, I wouldn't object.

Aside from boat's comeliness stat my nitpick(not that the looks of the boat is a nitpick) is if we'd control whole party on the boat while out of combat & in the middle of the ocean; since video shows the party is in formation with no combat going on towards the end. I'd prefer all other current party members relax at some part of the deck than follow PC around in the "small" ship while we are making the rounds & checking on everyone etc.

Voted for Takehu since we don't know much about any of them, the least known is the way to go Xoty seems to be a clever girl, a bit Veronica(NV) vibe; will be fun watching her play with "thick" Eder's religious views. Serafen seems to be pure fun. Would have been better if one of his classes were chanter tho, there is potential in a singing pirate orlan, Can't quite decide on Maia Rua, seems serious like Pallegina, her portrait suggests a mother figure, but doesn't seem that way in that group sketch.

I don't care if its 5 or 6 but Obs should better stick to their vision. Now they have the opportunity to evolve the IP with relatively less nostalgic ties/restrictions and more creative vision, they better use it and if 5 person party limit will be good for their overall vision for the game, so be it and for the others who wants the 6th slot back: LET IT ****ING GO ALREADY!

Gore - Gibbing
Quillon replied to gibonez's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't like casters' arched forward bouncing animation in between attacks, very lame looking. Also arquebus animation transition seems to be happening too fast after a shot, should be slowed down, its transitioning into waiting stance anyway. Both of these can be seen at 27th sec: -

Became relevant: Tho her portrait scares me. -
Stretch goal? We got one for George Ziets didn't we? But to be honest. PoE1 had a much shorter pre-production that was done basically in desperation to get a new project going internally. PoE2 has had a more elaborate pre-prod so I'm sure a lot of elements have already be ironed out. They don't want to risk narrative creep. They should get him back, not necessarily for PoE 2.

So at first what I understood from subclasses was there'll be 2 subclasses per class and we'll choose one of them. But now I learn that there'll still be a base class. I'm not familiar with "kits" or whatever so how will this work? It was easy to grasp when I thought a subclass is basically abilities/talents grouped together under 2 different concepts but base class' continuing existence is confusing me. So that was kinda the question and my concerns are: a) Wouldn't a class be spreading too thin over these base & subclasses? b) What does general/base class consists of? A bit from each subclasses? Why not drop it and make a third subclass instead? or drop it and make the 2 subclasses more distinct?

I'd like it to be at the end, continuing the story further but at this day and age accessibility is more important for the devs/publishers/"most/casual" players. It can be done in CDPR's way, meaning you can start the expansions either before or after the end of the main story; while that approach takes player progression into account and reacts whether the player has finished the main story or not, it doesn't necessarily further the story, it rather tells a different story with loose ties to the main story. Sooo while I prefer furthering the story, I don't think its viable(optimal? :D) for "them" any more.

More VO is good for consistency and as I understand it that's the goal. It was jarring how half of the lines in a conversation voiced and half hasn't. And "twice" doesn't mean all lines will be voiced so I don't think it'll be a constraint, in fact I hope it pushes writers to be more economic with the lore dumps. Fewer Companions: [unpopular Opinion]I'd like it to be even less(4 in this case; party limit) but with returning companions who could also be dead before Deadfire, 7 is understandable :D I just don't like spare companions back at somewhere or missing out all the different reactions from them, the reactivity/replayability should come from their different reactions to PC's different choices, not from having them with us or not IMO. I could go on but its subjective and not too relevant here.
