Ok. No humans either.

The Elves' golden age has come to an end and the remaining Elves are preparing to return to their homeworld Elysium, a paradise so wonderful that no elf ever returns. However for some it is not an easy choice to leave the world they grew up in. The only world they have known. For the Elves that do pass the portal to Elysium, it is disaster as they discover that Elysium is actually a hellish volcanic world. Worse, the portal is one-way and there is no way back or even a way to warn the others. The leaders in Elysium are working on a desperate plan to escape Elysium or at least send warning as more Elves continue to pour through the portal into Elysium.

Suggestion: Have smarter/well armed units like a military unit throw grenades off the walls into corners where retreating players tend to camp with a shotgun ready.

Nah, that's old and cliche. Coming on a hard socialist community that sacrifices the self for the ambiguous greater good so you show the triumph of the indomitable human spirit is the way to go.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW DRAGON AGE GOTY TRAILER
Atreides replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
Think the trailer'd been better if they played the sword backstabbing scenes to the tune of Now it's you-know-who I've got the you-know-what I stick it in the you-know-where You know why, you don't care Now it's you-know-who I've got the you-know-what I stick it in the you-know-where You know why, you don't care Now it's you-know-who I've got the you-know-what I stick it in the you-know-where You know why, you don't care Now it's you-know-who I've got the you-know-what I stick it in the you-know-where You know why, you don't care -
Obsidian making Fallout: New Vegas

If I had the choice of carrying 5 pounds of water and 5 pounds of something more valuable than whatever I could buy to fix up the hp damage from dehydration, I'd pick the latter. Especially after the point stims are plentiful and I can afford them. Better to have dehydration affect APs and maybe even stats like endurance or strength that would reduce the weight I could carry. Would suck major time if I had to keep chucking items the further I walked out into the dessert by the way. By the way, any mention on ratings or whether we can run our own criminal operation? I want my own strip club. -
Americans set to get standardised/universal healthcare

I think it's likely too that the drugs for the general public aren't the latest too so that a limited budget covers more people. -

Americans set to get standardised/universal healthcare

I wouldn't say that's what Britain has. Again, read the chapter in the Undercover Economist if you have the chance to. -
Americans set to get standardised/universal healthcare

I think drop the "either or" and go with a system that takes the benefits of both where possible. -

Point it's hardly the silver bullet either. Lets get Walsingham's observations on this if he's willing/available. -

From what limited info I have, antiselection's pretty bad in the US because insurance is so expensive that it's skewed towards people with higher chances of making claims. And of course the insurance companies need to price to reflect that. It's a vicious cycle. On the other hand going mandatory universal healthcare can be done but it's not perfect either. Long queues and very strict criteria on what you can or can't get treatment for. That's why private medical care places still exist and do well in universal healthcare places. Read up on Undercover Economist's chapter on that. He proposed a system combining market forces and universal healthcare. I think it was a mandatory saving fund from your earnings. You're covered for basic stuff, but you can dip into the fund if you want more treatment. But the incentive is to save because you'd get access to the fund on retirement etc. -
Guys, it's Mass Effect 3.

Who also went astray by the economic downturn?
Atreides replied to ouiouiwewe's topic in Way Off-Topic
Please elaborate, Steve. I'm curious how the middle east's coping with the downturn, and the reactions on the street. Gas prices down after the recent high musta been tough on them. -
The Baanite's gloves with built in Inflict Moderate Wounds are awesome. I had to invest 10 points into use magical device to get around the Evil requirement but it's awesome. I haven't finished the game yet, restarting a few times to "play right". Getting those gloves early to have them for most of the game was one example. That Baanite battle had great AI. Really like SoZ because of the trading and great party v party combat like that. My main gripe is loading time takes very long now. Especially now that encounters make loading more frequent.

Obama's turning white pretty fast. At this rate he'll give McCain a good run by the end of his first term. I suggest that he should try dyeing his hair red.

Calling all savvy investors (and the not so savvy if you want)
Atreides replied to theslug's topic in Way Off-Topic
I'd say I'm more of a top-down investor looking at the macro economy for general trends then looking into particular stocks. My personal opinion's the market's very over-reactionary especially in the short-term. I wanted to buy AIG at USD2 but then it went up the next day after the govt lent them USD81 b. Subsequently after the news of the bailout plan and stuff it's hovering around USD4 but it reached USD5.50 at one point in the space of like 2-3 days. I'd recommend talking with people who know their stuff. Look at it this way - you wouldn't put lots of money down on investments that you don't know much of or a game which you don't know how to play so the stock market shouldn't be different. However it's my opinion that the market's close to bottoming out. It may still go down but if you look at an investing horizon of 5 years or more there's value in the market. Also, if you're into stocks look at the long-term since stocks have wide variance in return, especially in the short term. It's over the long-term that they're expected to show higher yield overall.
