  1. ^It certainly could, but it would be spammed out with the speed of things happening. With RT you're forced to take it slowly so you might as well read the descriptions which generally are worth reading. However that's not to say such descriptions would be useless in a RT game. It could be used for descriptions/situations etc. Again, each system has its pros and cons.
  2. Would it be viable to buy a dead franchise that the owner has no intention of supporting? It could be disassociated with WotC and just use generic d20 rules to run it while the content's modified to the buyer's needs.
  3. Certainly didn't mean that's the sole reason I'd prefer TB (I actually prefer RTWP). Just something that nobody's raised before in the usual RT/TB debates that get rather predictable. Besides that yeah - the same animations get boring after awhile. On the same note, RT action makes combat feel "alive" rather than a board game.
  4. Heh, I'll try JRPG = Japanese role playing game RTWP = real-time with pause Generally whatever works is fine for me. Some new angles on the debate: 1. TB has the advantage of letting the player watch the animations. There's nothing else to do during the sequence except watch what's going on, so players notice watch what's moving. If many heads are being blown off at the same time players are less likely to notice (apreciate?) the animations. 2. As mentioned, RT or RTWP gives the player to react immediately to a situation - ie cancelling a long spell when they see a different threat/opportunity present itself compared to TB which doesn't. IMHO this isn't necessarily a bad thing. In a real situation we do the same - we react to situations as soon as we get new imput so I don't see how this could be a bad thing. It certainly doesn't decrease strategy, quite the opposite in fact.
  5. Maybe they could have a Romances on/off option in settings or something. That'd probably screw with dialogue script though.
  6. I think they would care if there was financial incentive and they thought that they wouldn't be able to do it themselves, or at least not make as much as farming/selling it to someone else. If IPLY tanks the usual procedure would be to sell assets so the proceeds go to creditors. Licenses and games in development might be attractive to certain parties.
  7. SP is reasonable, at least compared to the Taliban out there and he makes valid points mostly. The reason some don't usually get along is that he's pro console, or at least not anti-console as some are. That usually leads to creative interpretation of "facts" etc on both sides then things get sticky.
  8. Funny, actually. I was at Best Buy yesterday and I saw an XBox packaged with KOTOR and some Mech game plus 2 months of XBox LIVE!. It was only about C$50 more than just a plain XBox. I think the regular XBox was going for C$230 and a regular PS2 was C$200.
  9. Exactly. All you can ask for is that they do their best making a good game. Just because consoles so far don't cut it for you doesn't mean it's an inherant property. If they can show consoles how you'd prefer all the better. In that reguard I think KOTOR showed others some possibilities out there.
  10. Happy B-day. Btw Chipp>Sol.
  11. I'd say KOTOR isn't a game that would be significantly improved with multiplayer, as SP is its strength. Heck, some stories require only one main character (take the Revan thing for example) and lets the protagonist be the focus.
  12. I dunno, the mimic (if so) seemed pretty convincing. If anything it's Hades that comes off a bit funny because he's not this rational most of the time
  13. Without knowing anything official about the project there's not much use speculating. However, I do believe the Obs team has enough talent to potentially make it a good game.
  14. Haven't seen any devs post yet, so why don't you introduce yourselves/drop a line to those who know you or are new. It would be nice to see the ex-BIS who are here and perhaps a few new devs.
  15. Just because the project may be KOTOR2 doesn't mean that it can't posess desirable elements from those games that you mentioned. Hopefully they will. Here are some of my suggestions - I try not to mention what others have: 1. Customisable qickslots like htos efrom NWN. Let the player customise weapon combos, feats, actions - anyhting you can think of. Heck, if you could put "save" weapon/armour combos and put them in the quickslots so you can switch at the touch of a key that would be excellent. You could either have the player select a choice from a kind of tree for the quickslot or just drag the action into the slots. 2. Have more good/bad decisions that aren't just more money/rude etc. Personally I'd like to see manipulation of people, playing both sides etc for your advantage (determined by stats?). Palpatine was definitely evil but everybody thought he was on their side. Of course, the usual pwning people with your powers is still welcome. Basically more mature evil and not immature stuff. 3. Appearance - the portraits morphing to your allignment were cool, but it seems a light side portrait didn't change much. Maybe a more serene profile, speech style or something. Personally my theory is light siders eventually turn into Yoda things. Maybe have NPCs etc react to your condition etc.
