  1. Wow you really couldn't STFU long with your gun control debate. I understand that there were security personel and police first responders who were armed and who were killed ?
  2. Never actally played Jagged Alliance. Heresy, I know.
  3. Maybe I should try something like this. I can't get myself to excercise just for it's own sake. I need to be actually doing something. Not many 90 year olds look this cool.
  4. MY BOSS ACTUALLY ALL CAPS IN EMAILS IF THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT. CLEARLY THAT MAKES IT EASIER TO UNDERSTAND AND DOESN'T AT ALL COME ACROSS AS THE RAMBLINGS OF A 13 YEAR OLD CHILD. IF THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY CRITICAL, HE WILL TAKE IT ONE STEP FURTHER AND COLOURISE KEY PHRASES.

You can do it with a molotov or a flame thrower burst, that seems perfectly in keeping with cannon, but they aren't supposed to be immune to bullets. Not that I can remember.

Didn't think it was possible to have too much mood and suspense and not enough action, apparently it is.

It bothered me having skulked about stealthily for the first hour or so of gameplay and seeing lots of guns lying around dropped by dead looters that I was unable to pick up because apparently that was not something the engine knew how to do. Had to wait for a cutscene. Later it became apparent that you can only really play the game by being stealthy all the time and it gets tiresome. You start dying because you get bored and start running around nosily to cover ground faster. The game never takes it to the next level and lets you fight an alien. The most you can do is to scare it off briefly. It's like a horror movie in the buildup waiting for the big scare moment, only it's like that the whole game. After the first few near heart attacks you get immunised pretty fast.
  8. I know there are certain arguments that certain people here are psychologically programmed not to accept, but it is not the natural state of modern man to be carrying around concealed firearms. IF, and that's a big if, it is necessary it is because something has gone horribly wrong in society. I suspect it's more a matter of identity, of projecting a certain aura of rugged self reliance, and of course the sense of security it gives which is perhaps more important than the practical application.
  9. The engine is very old by now. Can't really compare it to Arma.
  10. The retailer/backer/whatever DLCs and goodies are usually insignficant, If that is indeed what you are talking about. Just jumping in here out of the blue and not bothering to read the thread. A pretty far leap to say that they 'necessitate piracy' anyway. All of them together don't really represent the 'full game' if there was no such thing envisioned, rather a bunch of different flavors to chose from. I have yet to encounter launch bonus content worth bothering about actually.
  11. Windows knows your folder preferences best.
  12. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448694/ That was 3 years ago
  13. Even the ludicrously priced mice which I have been guilt of buying myself often are all made of the same cheap plastic components glued together.
  14. I have to admit I never considered that anyone would do that on a regular basis. I assume it was a one off.
  15. Dog looked a little unhappy. Like when forced to have a bath. No biggie.
  16. I guess you can call it a comment on what people seem to think is important.
  17. We can torture and kill eachother to our hearts content but if someone dyes a dog blue, that is simply inexcusable.
  18. There is nothing good about lazy MMO/Ubisoft storytelling where they spend time on the main mission and all the other open world stuff is just copy/pasty. It's not really 'open world' if everywhere is the same. Awkward sex scenes can be pretty funny though, and it looks like they haven't ruined that tradition. Lot's of potential in transgender (what were the bull people with the horns called anyway)
  19. Forum software doesn't allow certain possibly problematic image extentions. If you got a hit from your antivirus off an image here, I'm pretty confident it's a false positive.
  20. So were doing 'Why Germany lost the war'. In no particular order : Going into Russia while Britain was still in the fight. No coordination between axis powers such as a combined attack of Germany and Japan on Russia. Hitler made a lot of bad decisions, thought he was a battlefield commander. Failing to properly marshal the resources of conquered and home territiories. In Germany by killing such a large number of his own citizens, Jews and political dissidents, who could have contributed to the war effort and in conquered territories by comitting ideologically motivated atrocities turning potential allies into partisans.
  21. El oh el. Even OSCE agreed that Georgia attacked first and disproportionately, and that there was no Russian build up beforehand- and HRW state unequivocally that Georgia ethnically cleansed around 200,000 ethnic Ossetians in the 90s civil war. The west has no obligation to help someone who starts a fight, nor to help ethnic cleansers even if they are their friends. Georgian War of Wanton Aggression in South Ossetia was in August, 2008 Barack Obama, inaugurated January 20, 2009. Obama, so bad he retroactively turned the Bush administration into a bunch of peaceniks! I was gonna say that. It happened under Bush who was under pressure not to get involved. All the military adventurism the US could muster having been sucked out of them in Iraq and Afghanistan. It also seems pretty clear that the Russian involvement was a cynical power play and not some sort of humanitarian rescue mission.
  22. ...must resist obvious references... it's hard Edit to add: Still debating with myself whether to get the game or not. At the moment the nays have it. Maybe a few months into the new year. If she doesn't know that 'Nationalist Socialist' means Nazi as most people understand the term then surely that would be worth pointing out. Not really a mistake you want to continue to make.
  23. Isn't South Ossetia Russian now (or Russia recognises it as a soverign state rather) and was a breakaway province of Georgia. So who were the grabbers there ?
  24. The EU thought Turkey was too far away, although they probably meant culturally. Anyway doesn't Georgia hate Russia already and have been begging for NATO inclusion like forever.
