Noticed that Witcher wild hunt has 'won over 160 awards' and it's not even out yet. I guess that's more a comment on the inflation in internet gaming awards than anything else. I mean I could set up my own gaming awards in an afternoon.

Boko Haram and the kidnpping of the school girls
NATO bases, long leases. Their presence affects the local economy, you can't just have them up and leave even though they are not needed at all.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt [2014]
I think I have the Radeon HD 7850, or 7950. Can't remember the difference. Higher is better ?

Ukraine Discussion
The EU is planning to set up its own TV station to rival RT. Can't find a story on it atm. The level of deliberate misinformation and Russian trolling is getting to the point where it's hard for people to make out what is really going on. Of course there is every chance that it will succumb to the pitfall of becomming anti-Russian rather than anti-misinformation.

The General Fitness Thread ( Part 2 )
Maybe I should try something like this. I can't get myself to excercise just for it's own sake. I need to be actually doing something. Not many 90 year olds look this cool.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
MY BOSS ACTUALLY ALL CAPS IN EMAILS IF THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT. CLEARLY THAT MAKES IT EASIER TO UNDERSTAND AND DOESN'T AT ALL COME ACROSS AS THE RAMBLINGS OF A 13 YEAR OLD CHILD. IF THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY CRITICAL, HE WILL TAKE IT ONE STEP FURTHER AND COLOURISE KEY PHRASES.

It bothered me having skulked about stealthily for the first hour or so of gameplay and seeing lots of guns lying around dropped by dead looters that I was unable to pick up because apparently that was not something the engine knew how to do. Had to wait for a cutscene. Later it became apparent that you can only really play the game by being stealthy all the time and it gets tiresome. You start dying because you get bored and start running around nosily to cover ground faster. The game never takes it to the next level and lets you fight an alien. The most you can do is to scare it off briefly. It's like a horror movie in the buildup waiting for the big scare moment, only it's like that the whole game. After the first few near heart attacks you get immunised pretty fast.

Toddler shoots mom in a Wal-Mart
I know there are certain arguments that certain people here are psychologically programmed not to accept, but it is not the natural state of modern man to be carrying around concealed firearms. IF, and that's a big if, it is necessary it is because something has gone horribly wrong in society. I suspect it's more a matter of identity, of projecting a certain aura of rugged self reliance, and of course the sense of security it gives which is perhaps more important than the practical application.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
The engine is very old by now. Can't really compare it to Arma.

Kickstarter in-game item / Pre-order in-game items
The retailer/backer/whatever DLCs and goodies are usually insignficant, If that is indeed what you are talking about. Just jumping in here out of the blue and not bothering to read the thread. A pretty far leap to say that they 'necessitate piracy' anyway. All of them together don't really represent the 'full game' if there was no such thing envisioned, rather a bunch of different flavors to chose from. I have yet to encounter launch bonus content worth bothering about actually.

Even the ludicrously priced mice which I have been guilt of buying myself often are all made of the same cheap plastic components glued together.

Bioware, a return to former glory ?
There is nothing good about lazy MMO/Ubisoft storytelling where they spend time on the main mission and all the other open world stuff is just copy/pasty. It's not really 'open world' if everywhere is the same. Awkward sex scenes can be pretty funny though, and it looks like they haven't ruined that tradition. Lot's of potential in transgender (what were the bull people with the horns called anyway)
