  1. The ludicrous prestige card from Nvidia (Titan or Goliath or something) can be powered with 250w if memory serves. Not that it will ever pay for itsef in power savings, but it's the first time ever that I remember that a more powerful card had a massively reduced power draw. That IS pretty cool.
  2. I don't know if there is a condition where one obsessively generalises about countries, if there is Oby is patient zero. I don't think I have ever seen a post of his not related in some way.
  3. It's almost always about teenagers and sexual and emotional tension. It's a formula that works both on teenagers and on older people wanting to relive their high school days.
  4. I heard game wardens have started injecting their horns with poison. Small enough doses to that it doesn't affect the animal. might be a good solution if you could ensure it was done to every animal the demand would go down to nothing.
  5. The US is not an occupation force, it's a strategic alliance and the Japanese are quite determined to stick with the post war constitiution. There is absolutely zero chance of Japanese democracy disappearing with the US bases. I thought it was rather interesting to hear American generals come out openly and declare that the US would not trade in Japan for China, even if it was the more logcial choice of the two, notwithstanding the historical relationship.
  6. So conversely Europe which had Hitler, Mussolini and Franco is demonstrating it's penchant for the rights of man in this same period. If the good guys hadn't won there would have been no democracy at all, formal or otherwise. If you are going to take stock of democratic tradition you need to do so after the deciding confrontation.
  7. You know Japan was a democracy before those authoritarians took over, like Germany. True story.
  8. Ram, mobo and processor go together, in the sense that it's very rarely worth upgrading within the same generation of those. The rest may be salvagable depending on your power plant. I'm thinking of getting an i7 when the new line of intel processors come out. This is a good stop to try out different combinations, it will alert you if you are making any obvious mistakes that might turn out costly. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/parts/case/
  9. He also told US base commanders that American soliders ought to use more prostitutes. You know for morale. A real charmer.
  10. This kind of rhetoric is bread and butter for ultranationalists, you can find those anywhere.
  11. He's like Shinso Abe, but he doesn't bother with allusions and subtlety. This kind of thing obviously gets a lot of play because Japan is still held up against its WW2 self by its neighbours and they have gotten tired of being told how to feel about it.
  12. If it only fires one shot wouldn't you be better off making a barrel in a workshop and a pen or full sized gun out of that. That's how they do in many slums across the world.
  13. The scene where Cruise takes his shirt off and she is cowered and overwhelmed like she was staring into a musculous sun is hilarious. Whatever the director meant that to be didn't work. I think the intention was for Jack Reacher to be an old fashioned man's man. Trouble is no one believes Tom Cruise is one.
  14. My grandmother is from a time when training to be a housewife was a vocation. She can cook anything well. The mean old battleaxe is still alive too, she'll outlive us all.
  15. I don't fall asleep as much as faint from exhaustion.
  16. Yeah but look at the pics. It's genuinely creepy.
  17. It's a blanket organisation for lobbying the interests of the gun industry. The article presents it more or less like the NRA all voted to show off their disturbing target dolls at their convention. The titile says 'NRA vendor'. The NRA doesn't sell anything. So, although they are mostly correct in their demonising of the NRA we like to pretend to be able to represent both sides when writing an article. Otherwise it's just an opinion piece. There are enough of those already.
  18. Exactly, I'm sure this is done just as much from our direction, but since the secrets we want to steal are goverment and not industry as well they have an easier time covering it up. I don't think western powers ever shied away from industrial espionage, especially involving military contracts. The strength of the economy directly affects defense after all.
  19. They want to be able to carry out power projection with aircraft carriers like the US and don't understand why they should not be awarded the same indulgences in their territorial disputes as Russia. As for the cyber attack stuff I imagine the same could be said about any number of powers.
  20. How is Mars Wars, is anyone playing it ?
  21. Note to self. WASD can not be used to navigate in excel.
  22. People can get addicted to just about anything it seems. I have long suspected that living a large portion of your life vi a digital proxy makes it more difficult rather than less to develop new meaningful relationships.
  23. The horse is really fat, or pregnant actually.
  24. Must be a bitch trying to breathe fire and not set yourself ablaze
  25. I think we should collectively decide to call them the Viet Minh. Nominal determinism like this irritates me, probably because it's true that it has some effect.
