    The only thing that is inevitable is that power tends to consolidate onto itself. The secret to the success of any monarchy with only the apperance of power and significance is pagantry, tradition and a powerful patriotic association, a wining combination. It's not there because we need it. It's there because it has played this game of careful consolidation for centuries and has gotten really good at it.

    It beats a guillotine. Their wealth all originates in an absolute monarchy. I'll gotten gains, however profitable the dividends are now.

    The royals are needed once every 5 years to ensure the traditional transfer of power from one leadership to the next and that the military is far removed from this event, just in case. Other than that one could well argue for the appropriation of their castles and lands.

    Yes, but it's an inherited government gig, and a really nice one at that. If anything like that could exist in a state that was fair to the tax payers the king would be chosen by lottery, or maybe a last man standing competition, like bloodsport.

    I just use a knife. I mean I'm sure there is cookery that can't be done spatulalessly. I just haven't come across it yet.

    There is no rule that says it can't have a decent GFX. Processing power doesn't mean that much for gaming performance, so it doesn't matter if games aren't optimised for octo(?) core processors.

    Define 'a good chance'. 15 year old school kid, not doing anything illegal at the time that we know of. A melee breaks out for whatever reason. Those things end in death a lot less often than than gunshots. We have Zimmerman's word that he was about to get beaten to death. Rather convenient. This was not a home invasion. What likely happened was that he lost his cool and it ended with a killing because he had a weapon he had to use for fear that it would be wrestled from him. Again, no evidence that Zimmerman was even in the right or who started it.

    And of course it would be sacriledge to suggest that the better outcome would have been for Martin not to have had a gun.

    A phone call can be a nuisance, a text you can see right away so you know what it's about. That makes it a good way to introduce yourself. I wouldn't hesitate to say texting is more polite.

    It was barely 26 yesterday and I had a blower on max setting pointed directly at my face just to get some work done. We don't have air conditioning. It's only hot 14 days a year, so noone bothers.
