  1. We have wolves now. Supposedly. Well one or two spotted. Enough for farmers to go crazy.
  2. That has been thrown around so often that people actually believe it. the scenes are in the book. But they are part of thousand pags long books. In that they carry far less weight than they do when they are put in tv episodes and suddenly have a far greater relative length to the rest content. The failing here is that of the HBO audience who thinks that to prove how progressive they are, they need porn in their normal tv shows. Well that's what I said - they are in the books, but sure they're disproportional compared to the rest of the content in the tv show. That's typical HBO **** and gibs policy. A bit of realism served the Wire well. I think it was well integrated in the theme. But from that point on, (or even before, I don't know) its become a feature of all HBO shows. Its the same drop in standards that happened when reality shows came about, a new low to titillate the crowds. The irony is that they're calling it progressive. From a western where a man keels over when shot to zoomed in stabbings of pregnant women in less than 50 years - yay for progress. One might argue that orientalism and outrageous sexuality is one of the defining factors of the genre. It's certainly common. It's a bit like blaming a dog for barking.
  3. I wouldn't call it large scale stuff in the book, after the dragon is killed. Maybe large scale as it affects the realm, but not the story arc.
  4. Couldn't be bothered with the age verification. Doesn't appear I'm missing that much. Witcher 3 is out for current gen consoles so no wonder it looks like Witcher 2. DA3, honestly the engine is very bad, rubber banding and wonky encounters, and they couldn't even be bothered buidling new locales, so every other cave is the same map. No reason to think they will do a decent job this time.
  5. When you factor in the properties of Volourn, up is down, black is white, he is usually extremely accurate.
  6. Careful Wals, we don't want to give them any ideas... Is Dredd still in print? Of course Dredd is still in print. The Galaxy's Greatest Comic still comes out weekly, with Biff Clenchteeth in almost every issue. Did you see the new Dredd movie? It was much better than the Stallone version. http://youtu.be/PifvRiHVSCY I read a piece on how the Stallone Dredd movie all but killed off the comic. Matter of fact there is very little spill over from the successful superhero movies. You might see an immediate spike in comic sales leading up to the movie, but it always goes away and you run the risk of doing permanent damage to your brand. Only a superhero factory like Marvel can afford to hit and miss. Daredevil anyone ?. Dredd is one of the genuinely cool things in this world and it's nice to see it was able to bounce back with a decent movie adaptation.
  7. I've just been asked to delete all of Felithvian's post in this thread as apparently they weren't written by him but by someone else using his computer.. So, I'm going to have a global mod do that. Just FYI. Hope it doesn't screw up too much unrelated content.
  8. Do we really know that it's being used 'for good'. What if the NSA happened to know something that would guarantee that a major order went to an American defense contractor over other bidders. Would they sit on that information. Would a closed senate oversigth comittee even object. Whenever national security is involved the normal rules don't apply. Arguably no clear set rules apply at all.
  9. It's something about the way they move that's disturbing, but really they are hugely preferable to flies. Large ones will still get evicted once discovered though. Jumping spiders are cute. They don't have the freakish long legs.
  10. Why are the lines in the Pacific so wonky. I mean the whole point is to make clocks work so you could navigate. Well before GPS anyway. You can't just pick and chose what time zone you would prefer.
  11. As far as I'm concerned Surperman is lame, so if they changed if up a whole lot that's all potential gain.
  12. It's a public sphere thing. They don't dress like that inside.
  13. Neighbourhood of 4000 DKK./ 500 Euro.
  14. So, I'm looking to buy a mobo, ram sticks and processor combination . For now my GFX, a HD7950, will be salvaged as will the case. The biggest question is what CPU to get. I don't upgrade very often. Aside from gaming I use it for PS and 3Dsmax, so more ram and processing power will be much appreciated.
  15. I don't have DotA 2. Know a couple of people who are into it. The competitive gaming with huge Cash prizes is a nice touch. Steep learning curve, which is nice, but I'm just not much for diablo type gameplay.
  16. I'm pretty sure sound is nothing like radiation and accumulated decibel equals hearing damage. Only decibel over X ammount does damage. That said I got the most silent of the HD7950, the Asus one, and I'm quite glad I didn't get one 5% faster and 25% more jet plane.
  17. You have to do some cleaning inside your vid cards and CPU coolers once in a while, dust will always get through. You need a set of small screwdrivers and a lot of patience and care. I use a small animal hair painting brush to get the dust off, then it's just a matter of putting things back where they were.
  18. Turkey was always the exception in Arab states, besides what do they want with another Arab spring. Isn't Turkey demoratic.
  19. What's crazy is that there are tracks, which means it wasn't a one off.
  20. Once Sherman started operating behind enemy lines it became obvious that the north could afford to replace their losses and the south could not. They were never going to win. As long as Lee could keep winning and then giving the same ground and keep the Union tied up the illusion could be maintained, that changed with the scorched earth campaign.
  21. I still play UT2004 with a mate with a prehistoric Mac. Can't run anything more recent, besides it's still an awesome game. I also recentlt played Homeworld and the Total war series again. I think I'm done with BG and PST replays though.
  22. There isn't really much to be said for the Confederate position. It wasn't a fight over ideology though, at least not at first. Lincoln was keen not to be put in with the Abolitionists which were seen as disruptive radicals. Later the slavery issue became a means to an end; unification.
  23. It's a shame when you have a real actor or two, I mean above the skill of good enough for TV, or suitable for the attention span of a 13 year old, that there is no time to let them strut their stuff.
