I have been cleaning out my appartment all day and I found myself procrastinating and reading this again . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgJT4eQOIoI It's a grimy fantasy thingie set in war torn medieval France. It's very text heavy, but in a good way. I bought the series ages ago to try and improve my French. Francois Burgeon was always really good at 'taking you there'. If that makes any sense.

I briefly thought about reinstalling New Vegas but I realised I have already done all there is to do. Yeah I'd like to find a classic RPG I haven't played as well. So many games are just **** nowadays. That, and I'm an old grumpy bastard who doesn't like change.

Yep. I want something portable that's good enough to plug a set of propper stereo headphones into, there is nothing that truly fits the description. Earplugs are a compromise for size and battery usage, the difference is like night and day. My phone is close to being good enough but I don't use it because all the headphones still have the large stereo jacks (I don't think I've used one in over a decade) and the converters are bulky and break easily. There are bluetooth options, it really would be nice to do away with cables altogether, but they are either cumbersome with seperately carried transmitters, or too expensive.

I found it problematic when you were being scolded or taunted for choices you never made, especially when you finally meet Comstock. They were still dangling the plot over you at that point and at one point the game commandeers the PC into just another agent for telling the story. When you have no imput at all the sense of disconnection from the advancement of the game is pretty overwhelming. I don't recall any choices except false ones, that is with cosmetic or no consequences at all.

Tablets are stupid as they aren't really mobile. If it doesn't fit in your pocket might as well bring your laptop. Aside from lounging on the sofa doing web stuff I don't see any use for them. I have a galaxy s3 which I actually prefer reading e books on over a tablet, especially since I got the cracked screen fixed, but that has to do with my vision. Sentences tend to jump around after a while when I'm reading a standard book size source. Even worse on an A4 format, used to think I was a little dyslexic but it went away on a small screen. So horray for the larger screen sized mobiles.

Private initiative is our new religion. NGOs are an industry now, with expert knowledge in how to set up aid programmes in third world countries etc. We seem willfully unable to consider that making money on charity could easily lead to one's priorities getting mixed up.

There was a forum software update recently, I'm not exactly sure what's new and what's not myself. Don't think they would roll back just for quotes though.

Ahh, new people can get access if they donate. I guess that makes more sense.

One might question the wisdom of making a promotional film available only to people who have already bought the product. I realise that without all the tiers the math doesn't work and much less funding would have been raised, but at some point it all starts getting a little ridiculous trying to maintain these artificial barriers.

Installer should automatically update redistributables as the final step, although sometimes it's manual and you quit rather than update DX and lo and behold C++ came after.

That's one hell of a necro. Thread started in 2008

I see Tweihanders pike formations and Halberds. I'd say right around late 15th ct. to early 16th ct. Possibly around the 30 years war where superior cannon were starting to become a dominant feature on the battlefield. They made a tabletop game out of that ?

I thought the supernatural angle worked really well in Deadly Shadows. We have a genuinely sinister main protagonist and some really scary places like the Shalebridge Cradle, but you're right. They didn't overdo it which is why it worked.

You know these trailer thingies have seperate producers and only relate to the finished product in a general sense. The tone should be steampunk though, not AssCreed clone. I dunno

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSUAJeq90Qw&list=PLD2DE02A1CF443AA8 New EPMD thingie for 2013. Last installment was 1999. Ended in bad blood and death threats so this is actually kind of a big deal for those that are old enough to remember. It's on spotify btw.

The problem of course is forcing multiplayer and always online down the throat of a game that doesn't need it. Many FPS games have little other appeal than multiplayer, not so with Sim City.

Divinty and Larian need your love KS
Gorgon replied to mieu's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I would suggest that this discussion belongs in Computer & Console where there is already a thread for this kickstarter. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/63563-divinity-original-sin-kickstarter/ -
For me Homeworld was primarily a multiplayer experience. Competitive RTS for bragging rights. I don't think Homeworld Tychoon tm would appeal to me, or the social media angle. Still if this becomes a hit maybe they will be able to make another Homeworld.

Wow. That sounds remarkably like something I would never glance at twice. Too bad, they have put out some good games over the years. I guess this is where it ends, with the always online/microtransactions trend.

My Galaxys s3 has a cracked screen. Can't be replaced without changing the touch panel as well which is very expensive, like half the cost of the phone. Pretty stupid. At least you can change a cracked sceen on an inphone. But there is no way I would do without file handling and installing from any source.

Yeah it gets better. Too bad they're afriad of dialouge options. Would have added that extra layer with all the effort that went into the scenery and the background.

I've played 30 mins and I don't like it. Can't believe I called in sick for this. . Mediocre shooter with magic and such, and a story I don't care about so far. It's pretty though, but that ain't enough. I dislike the way you have to hoard mana to cast spells, stopping to loot every trashcan. Find some other way to balance it. Not familiar with the Bioshock universe so I don't really care how well it ties the rest of the games together. Still, it will probably get better. There must be something to all this enthusiasm. PS: Is there a way I can get Iron sights to be the usual configuration for shooters (hold right mouse to aim) instead of being a toggle ?

Divine Divinity didn't have turn based combat, the later installments were pretty uninteresting to me at least. I don't see how this is a return to the roots. Old 3d games really show their age and are often unplayable. The Isometric 2,5 D like the infinity engine with pre rendered sprites are still playable so that's a plus at least.
