He's like Shinso Abe, but he doesn't bother with allusions and subtlety. This kind of thing obviously gets a lot of play because Japan is still held up against its WW2 self by its neighbours and they have gotten tired of being told how to feel about it.

If it only fires one shot wouldn't you be better off making a barrel in a workshop and a pen or full sized gun out of that. That's how they do in many slums across the world.

The scene where Cruise takes his shirt off and she is cowered and overwhelmed like she was staring into a musculous sun is hilarious. Whatever the director meant that to be didn't work. I think the intention was for Jack Reacher to be an old fashioned man's man. Trouble is no one believes Tom Cruise is one.

My grandmother is from a time when training to be a housewife was a vocation. She can cook anything well. The mean old battleaxe is still alive too, she'll outlive us all.

It's a blanket organisation for lobbying the interests of the gun industry. The article presents it more or less like the NRA all voted to show off their disturbing target dolls at their convention. The titile says 'NRA vendor'. The NRA doesn't sell anything. So, although they are mostly correct in their demonising of the NRA we like to pretend to be able to represent both sides when writing an article. Otherwise it's just an opinion piece. There are enough of those already.- 100 replies

Exactly, I'm sure this is done just as much from our direction, but since the secrets we want to steal are goverment and not industry as well they have an easier time covering it up. I don't think western powers ever shied away from industrial espionage, especially involving military contracts. The strength of the economy directly affects defense after all.

They want to be able to carry out power projection with aircraft carriers like the US and don't understand why they should not be awarded the same indulgences in their territorial disputes as Russia. As for the cyber attack stuff I imagine the same could be said about any number of powers.

How is Mars Wars, is anyone playing it ?

Note to self. WASD can not be used to navigate in excel.

People can get addicted to just about anything it seems. I have long suspected that living a large portion of your life vi a digital proxy makes it more difficult rather than less to develop new meaningful relationships.

Military debate - winning wars, winning battles

I think we should collectively decide to call them the Viet Minh. Nominal determinism like this irritates me, probably because it's true that it has some effect. -
Military debate - winning wars, winning battles
Gorgon replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
Wars are won by the side who wants it the most. This has certainly been the case in the many asymmetrical military interventions by western powers. In the case of two major powers battling it out, you kill the civilian population to destroy their industrial base until they can no longer support military operations. The political environment will often dictate what is possible though, so the reaction of other powers is the great unknown. -
So I had to do the bars. My script blocker killed my attempt to post though. I got 7. I knew some of them didn't look like they should be adjacant but I coudn't figure out where to substitute. I bet I could do better if I had used longer than my patience allowed.
-
Yeah now that I look at them the last two bars don't look right.

I thought that was the test. It's the answer. Good. I'm not colour blind then.

I sortof have the reverse problem. I'm stuck in a crummy job because I like the people there. It's comfortable and familiar which eats away at my ambition.

In Denmark you take a hunting license. You actually learn to track as well as gun safety and the whole thing finishes with a marksmanship test. If you don't score well enough that's an automatic fail. It's a good way to weed out those who just want a toy.

In case anyone was wondering, it's wrong both to give a 5 year old a gun of any kind and to make 'my first rifle' trainer guns with less kick for children.

Making overclocking harder, well riskier anyway, will also make it easier to get away with selling more or less the same chip but either over or underclocked to meet different price ranges.
