Stamina Regeneration
Sarex replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Your mistake is that people want real life in this type of game. That, to be honest, seems like a boring and tedious mechanic to me. What is next, stamina starts to fall off more rapidly if the character doesn't poop after he has taken a meal? -

What you are describing sounds like Sims to me. I don't like Sims. -
Go in the options check the heart of fury box and prepare for the butt hurt. XD

InExile is plotting to ruin Torment by making it turn-based
Sarex replied to khango's topic in Computer and Console
That is such a cop out, the only difference is that one group has the rights to the franchise and the other one doesn't. Both of the developers are using the names of the original games to get publicity and get public interest, otherwise the kickstarter would have said "from the creators of PS:T comes this and this game" and not "From the creators of PS:T comes the spiritual successor", but because one of the devs have the rights to the franchise and are working in a existing world they don't have the right to develop their vision of the game (change stuff). To be clear I am not defending Thief devs (never even played the game), but to defend Inexile because they are doing a spiritual successor is a lame excuse, especially when they are leaning so much on PS:T.- 343 replies

Won't go wrong with Dishonored, as for DMC, it's ok but DMC3 is still the best one for me. edit: Dark Souls on PC is unplayable without the mod, I can find the link for the mod if you want.

Finished Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag, and I must say that this is the best story line in the series so far, at least as far as the characters are concerned. I actually felt a little invested in them, so it was sad to see them die. As for the ship battles, they get boring after you defeat the legendary (strongest) ships. Anyways positive experience from this game.

There is a simple solution to this. Either you stop looking up builds on the internet (shame on you /joking) or we destroy the internet. Joking aside this is easily solved by post launch support. If a build is found to be OP it can easily be nerfed with a patch. As for the perceived OP builds, well no one can help you with that.

Combat is not bad in and of it self, but this action button mashing stuff is really annoying. It's like they want to keep one foot in the old style and the other in the new style. All that does is make the combat mediocre, because you know what the best of the old combat looks like and what the best of the new looks like, the different styles are holding each other back. I know bioware is trying to make a hybrid if you will, but from what I have seen(DA2) it isn't going so well for them.

edit:Moved to DA:I thread.

At least they are more upfront this time around. Now I know what to expect and will look to the more interesting parts of the game, such as upgrading forts and rebuilding the lands (also finding Anders and putting him in the ground again(because he is alive in DA:I even if we killed him in DA2?)).

Turn base always feels constricting to me, but I wouldn't be against it as combat is not the main focus in this game.

Ah but isn't that the problem now, from your point of view it seems like we are bashing the developers/game, but the simple fact is that while we may be advocating for the old xp system, never had we said "This is going to ruin the game", what was in fact said is that in our opinion it isn't going to be as good/fun as the old one. The problem is, when arguments arise they continue to a point where it seems like it's all or nothing, when in fact it just arguing on a segment of the game that isn't even the most important part of it. The simple fact that we are still here waiting for new tidbits of information show that we are all still very much interested in the game and don't think it's doomed to fail. Most of all what people seem to forget is that all of the things said are just opinions (good or bad) and they are going to change the more we see from the game. This is a forum where opinions are going to be had, be they good or bad and as long as everyone is being reasonably civil I don't see why that shouldn't continue.

No one here is saying that the game is going to suck or that we aren't going to play it, what we are saying is that some of the things being done are not exactly to our liking. But saying that, I think that everyone here is hoping to be proven wrong. What this is all coming down to is some people white knighting for the developers and defending every single thing they say and do. Well I think that the developers are big boys and can take criticism, in fact I think they welcome it (or they should) as it provides more information/feedback then someone just coming in to say "OMG, OMG you guys are great, so exited for the game, can't wait". This is a forum, people come here to discus things about the game that are know so far, so please leave the moderating to the moderators.

Let's Not Have Everyone Level At Once

I misunderstood your last sentence, I apologize. Didn't the BG series have xp rewards for learning spells and lock picking/disarming traps? -

What you described is a balancing of the classes according to how to book assumes the game is being played. That no one is doing it like that is another matter. My point was that the creators of the book did xp tables for a reason, not just to make the game more "complex".
