  1. To be a fly on the wall when @Bartimaeus saw the kiss scene. At this point I think Chainsaw Man is a victim of its own success, the second part of the manga has been very underwhelming for me. Fire Punch seems like an overall better story, but we shall see. It looks to be like Chainsaw Man is ending soon so maybe the buildup is worth it and the ending surprises me.
  2. It do be like that. The manga kind of edges you until the final climax and then Saitama shows for the smackdown. It will only get worse as the story progresses and I can't say any of the side characters are that interesting.
  3. Finished Lies Weeping. That ending though...or lack thereof... Also it seems like it would be a good idea to read Port of Shadows as it's not just a side story, or is potentially not just a side story.
  4. I am finding them more interesting than Murgen and Sleepy tbh. There is a meta part in the book where Croaker criticizes Murgen for the way he is writing the annals, being too focused on himself and unimportant details. I was like, "yeah that is exactly what I don't like about these books". I don't know if Cook was trying to be funny and poke fun at the readers who complained or what.. For me personally, I never got attached to most of the characters that died. He never managed to flesh them out enough for me to be fully invested in them. I decided to skip the Port of Shadows. Definitely, even though he does it on purpose it doesn't make it any better. But the story is interesting so far.
  5. Finished Soldiers Live. I don't know, I think I like the original 3 books more. There is a dip afterwards that does get better with the later books but it never quite comes back to the level of the first 3. Saying that I will continue reading the new books as they come out. I started immediately with Lies Weeping. Another thing I would say is that while Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen is pretty heavily inspired by the Black Company he does a better job with his characters. You are way more invested in the non PoV characters of the Malazan world.
  6. Shadow Games is back to par with the first 3. On to Dreams of Steel.
  7. Finished the Silver Spike. So far the weakest book for me. Although I liked the epilogue very much.
  8. Ah, I'm ways off from that but yeah I imagine I will be grouchy too.
  9. Still an empty spoiler. Now you can add the spoiler title and spoiler content. That got me the first time too and I had to edit.
  10. @Malcador I think the forum ate what you wrote, or I don't understand it. I started reading the Silver Spike and am not feeling it so far, but everyone says it's better to finishing before starting the books of the south.
  11. The ssd (samsung 9100 pro w/ heatsync) arrived aaaaaand it doesn't fit. So now I'm waiting on an aliexpress special for an extender, which was not cheap (60 eur).
  12. Book spoilers The cop-out ending, where everyone lives? Or something else?
  13. Finished the second book and the story is getting better and better. Ended up buying the whole anthology. I guess I wasted 20 bucks, but still a lot cheaper then getting them all individually.
  14. That does indeed solve it. Thanks again @SChin !
  15. Another change I don't like (I'm assuming it's a change and not a bug) is that clicking on a thread no longer brings you to the first unread reply. That is very useful. I can live without the page numbers next to thread names, but I don't like that the only choice now is to navigate to the first page when clicking a thread and clicking the last page icon next to the thread name.
  16. Better now!
  17. Finished book 1 of the black company. On to book 2. Considering when these were written I can see the influence they had on more than one author.
  18. Oh wow, so Steven Erikson was very inspired by Glen Cooks writing style in The Black Company.
  19. Thinking about starting Black Company or Broken Earth. Also want to get this https://www.dragonsteelbooks.com/collections/leatherbound-books/products/the-eye-of-the-world-leatherbound. But I don't want to pay something like 350 euros for it... Need to find a mule to get it to me from the US.
  20. New Dresden Files book "12 Months". It's alright, I would compare it to Ghost Story quality wise. Like Ghost Story this one wasn't planned originally, but due to some big things happening in Battle Grounds he wanted to have a book where Dresden could recover and reflect. The good news is that Mirror Mirror should come out relatively soon at least according to Jim, writing done by March and book out probably beginning of next year. Here's hopping.
  21. We had a bunch of fog here too around the same time. The issues come when the air starts to smell when you open the windows... I promptly went and bought a couple of more air cleaners.
  22. Rereading the Dresden Files before the new book comes out.
  23. Was undervolting a new laptop (asus proart p16) with a AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 cpu and when I was stress testing I did a benchmark to see if there was any performance gain (minimal) and for ****s and giggles I did a benchmark on my PC to compare. I was kind of floored to see the laptop get a 2.5x better result...
