  1. You never know, he may still celebrate it on the 7th. Not really sure how popular that decision was with Ukrainians as the Julian calendar isn't really connected to Russia. Most Orthodox countries celebrate it according to Julian calendar.
  2. If I can spot the 5070ti for under 1k, I may very well get it. I am currently a sad potato playing Pacific Drive with the 970.
  3. I was laughing my ass off seeing all the news articles regarding China's 6th gen prototype flying, especially because not long before people were saying it was just a ground model that was for show. Either way it seems that the future may not be so bright for the production of the F-35 jet.
  4. Merry Christmas everyone.
  5. I mean historically protest and civil movements have not gone well in China and caused pretty high death tolls, or to put it a bit differently "protests hit different in China". I think China is very careful not to allow history to repeat itself. Also culturally they are just different, the people have a different mentality. As to the rights in the US/Canada, I do not see what you are talking about. In the US the jails have become a business and it's been documented multiple times that judges willing help fill them. If anything the difference between the rich and poor is huge, in their standard of living and their treatment in court. As for the indigenous people, I really don't know what else to say other then you are wrong. They have been ethnically cleansed and marginalized to the point where giving them any rights/allowances is laughable at this point. Again, for the 10th time, I am not saying the West is evil, but what I am saying is that people tend to have different rules for China and other countries which are not considered allies. Shouldn't China be given the same opportunity to better itself socially as the west was given. People forget how recently China was in the depths of poverty, their focus now is economy and the security of it's borders. Once they get to the same level as the US, where the economy is no longer in question as it's too big to fail, I'm sure the people will start focusing on social well being and improvements. edit: Also let's not forget Guantanamo bay and what happens to Muslims there.
  6. I know of it, I was expressing doubts to the validity of what was reported in the western media. Ok, but then let's realize if we only want to buy things from countries that have done no wrongs we would not be buying anything at all. I never thought that China was a leader in computer sciences, but it's a cold fact that had the west not had access to cheap/slave labor to manufacturer said electronics it's a big question if PC and mobile phones would have been as common as they are today. I think computers would have been restricted to companies and wealthy people and gaming as a whole would have looked much different today.
  7. And that isn't moving the goal post? If that is true it's absolutely condemnable. So we should also stop buying from Canada for their treatment of the indigenous population (forced sterilization, poor medical treatment, racisam) or from the US for their treatment of Muslims and black people (fyi the US has the largest slave population in the world, ie. the prison system)? Everyone was ok with China's slave labor when it was building the west and when China was weak and under their control, now that the power balance is at risk we keep hearing about the bad guy China. Funny how that works. There would have been no computer advancement then, or at least nowhere near to this extent and the economic gap we have between the US and the rest of the world wouldn't have been anywhere near as wide as it is today. @Zoraptor There is that too, but I think it's mostly down to economics. The telco business is big and Huawei was starting to push out the western alternatives even in European countries. Their networking gear is just as good if not even better than what Ericsson has to offer and it's much cheaper.
  8. Again they can do it, in an unfair arena, but they can still do it. How are they valid, because China is the evil enemy? There was no shred of proof shown to corroborate that claim. To me it just seem like they had the better and cheaper product that the west couldn't compete with. Same as what is happening with the car industry nowadays. Every country is fighting to keep their industry alive and thriving, there is no playing fair in that game.
  9. The article is from 2020, Huawei is on a banned list in the US, along with some other companies from China, for "national security" reasons. No company from the US can do business with them. Hence why the phone don't have google play services anymore and why they are not sold. So yes, in my example they are actually prevented from doing business in the US/West, while in yours they are not. Per your article they will face fines not a ban. So yes, they are not equal. I would even go so far and say that China is being much more measured compared to what the west has been and is doing to them. Especially when you are willing to ignore and downplay anything to support your argument. It is what it is. My whole argument from the start is that China is not doing anything special, it's just playing the same game the US/any other powerful country is playing. The whole of west is trying to suffocate China's progress and economic rise and you what, expect them to just play dead and take it? It's just going to get worse and worse, as they become less and less dependent on the west.
  10. How so? Both lead to the same thing, a loss of profit. The US one is worse still because at best it damaged the companies reputation and forced it out of the US market or at worst it came down from the goverment to ban it for civil sales too. To this day no proof was provided that Huawei had backdoors installed. Let's not even go in to the google services being forbidden on Huawei phones. Again to me that is worse anti-competitive practice than patent infringement, because with the latter you still have access to the market. I'm going to repeat myself here, I am not saying China is the good guy here, but neither is the US, or other countries for that matter. It's all about interests and what you can get away with.
  11. Something to the effect of https://edition.cnn.com/2020/02/19/tech/huawei-us-lawsuit-rejected/index.html Depends, very much, where you are looking from.
  12. I am not familiar regarding the cases you are talking about (feel free to send me the links if it's not too much trouble, I would like to read about it), but if that was the case I would imagine those companies would be banned from selling to the west. There is a big push in the western news machine to promote China stealing IP (and I am not saying it doesn't, but I am trying to say that it isn't any worse than other countries), but I haven't actually seen any companies being charged or embargoed. You have Huawei, but that was done for "security reasons" and certainly not because it was going to overtake all other companies in the communication market and now you have tiktok for "stealing" user data for which I still don't understand what the difference is when compared to google or facebook. I'm sure there are other entities that have embargoes but these are the bigger cases and I haven't found one for IP theft.
  13. An example of rule breaking being? Collecting data? I mean tiktok is operating in EU still even though it's much more strict regarding user data than the US and I don't see it doing anything special compared to other social media app, other then not being owned by a western company. It's a myth that China is somehow special regarding this, the US has engaged multiple time in corporate espionage and stealing of technology, from its allies even and it's not like they are the paragon of respecting other countries rules either. It all boils down to profits and the ability to enforce the rules, there is no "justice" just interests. You would be surprised, people here are fascinated with Trump too.
  14. Happy new year everyone.
  15. Because they want to do business there and because more than likely China has investments in the company. Why should Chinese companies care about the US rules, the answer is more than obvious.
  16. The only joke was Marija Popic, made a mistake on the actual name. It's a common joke here in Serbia that most famous people in the world are just Serbs who changed their names to sound more western. For an example, Elon Muskovic.
  17. Excuse you, but we are really passionate about Merry Poppins, or Marija Popic as she is better know until they westernized her.
  18. Such is life. If I were to type some key words here, I would probably get banned instantly. Even though no one cares about them in my country. Wanna do business with a country respect their rules.
  19. Dandadan manga seems to be getting to the meat and potatoes of the story and is departing from the formula it used up till now.
  20. CL number should be lower, frequency should be higher. I have the Corsair Vengeance too, dito on RGB and they are low profile so my NH-d15 can clear them.
  21. Yep, similar price for the philips. But from the reviews I read the philips race vision is noticeably better than the Osram Nightbreakers. But both of those are sub 4k temp color. The only ones above 5k are the Osram blue light.
  22. I wouldn't let her drive with an improper cutoff line, but I still fear it would be **** for other drivers. I was going to get her these ones https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/12972RGTS2/racingvision-gt200-car-headlight-bulb which seem to be the best ones on the market right now from all the reviews I read. There are also these ones, which are a less bright but offer a cooler color https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/12972WVUSM/whitevision-ultra-car-headlight-bulb, although they are nowhere near 6k. Which brand/model are you using?
  23. @LadyCrimson Just pay attention to the latency when getting new ram. If it's cheap and high frequency, it's usually high latency too. Sister "inherited" a car and one of its headlight bulbs gave out. Do I go to the dark side and put in LEDs, or do I get a high output halogen... There are issues with both, the high output halogen last about 6 months to a year, but they pass the tech inspection. The LEDs are much brighter, but there are some fitment issues if I go with high quality ones. Also they would need to be taken out before every inspection, or she would need to find a place to do it with them in. The biggest thing is that I hate drivers who ****ing blind me with their low beams like they have high beams on... Now why I am considering LEDs in her case is because she has projectors for low beams and I would get some high quality Philips ones which have a good cut off line. Idk... will probably go with high output halogens and see how good they are. Either way the lights she has in now are crap.
