UK PC Gamer article
Prometheus replied to motorizer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
A Paladin is devoted to a cause or organization. There is no restriction that the cause needs to be good. Pallegina is a paladin and member of the brotherhood of the five suns. see quote below(source could be behind a paywall): -
'Rolling' attributes
Prometheus replied to magicwallis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Pc world interview(last paragraph) Zero times because we don’t roll for stats. We use point-buy and it’s really straightforward. -
Shapeshifting Request
Prometheus replied to Stasis_Sword's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I wouldn't expect to much information on spiritforms. The ranger didn't have any specific information on animal companions. Imo the best option is to have a few "usual" Lycantrope(but not the variants of them) and additional "unique" forms. So have a werecat and werebear but no weretiger, werelion or polar bear instead have something different e.g. a form inspired by a bird,a form inspired by an insect, a form inspired by a shark or whale etc. -
Shapeshifting Request
Prometheus replied to Stasis_Sword's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Druids change in anthropomorphized forms of existing animals/creatures. See quote below: I like shapeshifting, but sometimes I have a problem with the strength of the forms. e.g. the forms are not strong enough and it's better to remain in caster form or you use the forms only to get a hp bonus and just cast normal spells because the forms attacks are to weak. -
I think he said that it's too early to give specific numbers and that he will give the time he needs to play through Pillars of Eternity. see quote I don't think we'll know for quite a while. I know that's not the answer you were looking for, but I'd rather wait give out times. Based on previous experiences, what I am likely to do is give out the time it takes me, personally, to play through the game. Individual times vary too widely for me to speculate. a newer quote from an eurogamer Interview:

I think it's difficult to count the number of endings, because first you have to decide When an ending is different from another ending. Do you only count big changes(but when are changes big) or do you count all changes. e.g. how many endings has fallout new vegas 4 for each big faction or is an ending different if the fate of a minor faction is different? how many endings has Dragon Age 2 two for mage and templar or one because the result is the same. talk about endings in a eurogamer article about an interview with Josh Sawyer. (only the part in quotation marks is from Josh Sawyer) I agree with this statement.

Thoughts on damage types
Prometheus replied to ItinerantNomad's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
That's not true, armor is only the body part so you could wear non metal shoes/helmets etc. Also most armor will cover only 3/4 of the body. -

what is your worst rpg game ever played?
Prometheus replied to darthdraken's topic in Computer and Console
I think that would be Witcher 2. But I don't play all rpgs, if I don't like the setting/gameplay I won't play it. So there are a lot of rpgs I never played and they could all be worse than the witcher 2. -
Animal companions
Prometheus replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
From the known bestiary, I would like to have the cat in front of galawain,(see cropped picture of galawain below ) I think it's called Staelgar and an (adra) beetle as animal companions. -
They are not a distinct race, there will likely dwarf death godlike etc. see quote below:

No, most people believe she is a godlike of Hylea, who is a goddess of birds and the sky. Can the player also be a godlike of hylea or is this subtype only for pallegina/npcs?

Extra digital downloads
Prometheus replied to muad's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You will get keys for each digital copy you have and you can either use those keys yourself or give them to a friend. e.g. for gog you would get 3 gift codes if you have 3 digital copies. source -
Have morning stars both two damage types and high Interrupt or have you changed the bonus from two Damage types to high Interrupt?

1. Because they use the attribute system to try to make all attributes equally important for all classes, attributes shouldn't differentiate classes. 2. Attributes are the most commonly checked stat in conversations and scripted interactions. All classes can invest in every skill. stats that are checked in conversations and scripted interactions are class, race, culture, skills and attributes (and reputations and disposition). from gamebanshee interview: "example" for cipher:

character customization
Prometheus replied to stuba654's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
You can change the hair colour and skin colour(They are both shown in the inventory screen so I think you can change them (source)) and secondary/primary colour of your clothing. They also have mentioned in Update #41 that you can change hair and facial hair style. I think the most recent post is this post from november: You'll be able to change all of those elements at a basic level, but we're not doing anything wild for facial customization or anything. Your characters are pretty small, even in the "paper doll" view. -
Hidden Experience
Prometheus replied to Mr. Magniloquent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't like systems that try to hide numbers from me. The problem is that one option is always better as another option, you don't solve this problem with hiding numbers, you solve it with making most/all options have advantages and disadvantages. If you just hide the numbers from the player it doesn't change that all players should take the best option. -
I don't like random drop rates for unique/good weapons and armor. But I have no problem with random drop rates for less valuable stuff like consumables and weak weapons and armor. I think a better way to achieve this goal is, to make it impossible to get all unique items in one playthrough. E.g. for the different ways you can solve a quest you will get different unique items. With random lists for valuable stuff you will just increase reolading to get the items you want.

That's right, if your accuraccy is the same as the targeted defense. If the accuracy is lower you will miss more often. e.g. if you have accuracy 5 vs deflection 35. You have a chance to miss of 35%.

I'm not sure, but I think Josh meant that barbarians have great personal defenses against groups of enemies(could work like this: if there are many enemies nearby the barbarians dt will increase or after a barbarian defeated an enemy her defense will increase ). So they would have a weak defense against one strong enemy, but strong defenses against many enemies. quote from Something Awful:

Attribute theory

Have they confirmed that strength governs damage? I think it's the most likely stat, as you said in your opening post.- 483 replies

Dual Class / Multi Class?
Prometheus replied to Co0n's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Are you sure about this? I thought gromires are unique to wizards, fighters would be able to buy a active talents, that is like magic. But this would be a single "spell".
