I think it's an "and". Lore for the tribe name and Intellect for the good argument.

1)It's likely that there will be more. Each culture that was shown had individual backgrounds. (Philosopher and scholar for ixamitl Plains and slave and clergyman for aedyr). 1a) E3 previews said that you could be a ''mercenary'', ''bodyguard'', ''adventurer'', ''doctor'', ''soldier'', ''criminal'' or ''sherrif'. But the e3 presentation was without the character creation, so either Josh mentioned them or it was an answer you could give Calisca for a background. So it's likely that you can make a soldier. Also from a e3 summary from a user:

what are the min attributes per class
Prometheus replied to Arden's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I think in NWN2 8 was the starting point for all attributes and you could decrease it further. If you go by this wiki the minimum in baldurs gate is race specific. e.g. an elf minimum charisma is 8 a human minimum charisma is 3. -
In Update #74 Arcane Veil and Blast are starting abilities and Familiar was in Update #20 a starting ability, but a caster class has only two starting abilities + access to 1st level spells. So it was either removed completely or familiar is now an ability that you gain on level up. They could also have changed the ability familiar to a talent or spell.

Random Seed on Reload?
Prometheus replied to dwight_schrute's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I think they said that you can't save inside of combat. I doubt that there are any random rolls outside of combat( We know that dialog checks are fixed skill checks, stealth and finding hidden objects are also not random). Josh Sawyer also said that stand alone random rolls are pointless in a game with reloading, see quote below: -
Robes
Prometheus replied to LordofBones's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
In the gdc presentation you can see a few low level robes: -
Cooking with Tim ?
Prometheus replied to wargamer234's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
He has already written the book. source(behind a paywall): The book will have some recipes in it, that you can also craft in the game(source): The base food items are very straightforward (e.g. cheese, cocoa, egg, fruits, meat, etc.). The recipe foods (that you typically have to craft) have more specific names and give more/longer bonuses. Yes. -
Building Constructs?
Prometheus replied to Kogorn733's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
We know that dyrwoodan animancers can make constructs(see quote below) and that defiance bay has many animancers. So I think it's likely that we will get quests about constructs. But I doubt that we will get a construct companion. It could be possible that you can make construct hirelings for your stronghold. e.g. sacrifice a prisoner to bind his soul in a construct. There is also an Animat(engwithan constructs) factory dungeon in the game. from the wiki. -
I think we should make an extra thread for all previews, but here are two more: http://www.joystiq.com/2014/06/19/obsidians-pillars-of-eternity-looks-old-and-thats-good-news/ http://www.pcworld.com/article/2365287/pillars-of-eternity-preview-spiritual-successor-to-rpg-classics-turns-promise-into-game.html

Warrior AoE attacks?
Prometheus replied to ljbo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
The fighter has the ability to knockdown groups of enemies. known fighter abilities see here If you want to attack group of enemies with weapons barbians are the best choice. They have a passive ability that does damage against enemies near their main traget. They also have a frenzy ability that has something to do with fighting against groups: from Something Awful forums: -
Influencing reputation with donations?
Prometheus replied to ljbo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
There will be similiar Reputation mechanics to Fallout new vegas. You have two scales for each faction, one for positive and one for negative reputation. Imo there should be no way to reset the negative( or positive) scale. I have no problems if you can increase the positive scale through donating money, but there should be limits. e.g. You can only donate four times or after the fourth donation you gain no reputation anymore. -
The 8 Companions
Prometheus replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Sworn enemy is an active ability, that gives bonus damage and accuracy to one enemy. See wiki article -
The 8 Companions
Prometheus replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I thought this first too, but on the top stands <Playername> Reputations. I think it's unlikely they use one time a nickname and the second time a variable. -
Moon Godlike
Prometheus replied to Chilloutman's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't think there is much more information about Ondra. The dyrwoodan renamed a district of defiance bay after her, because a phenomenon associated with her, helped them to destroy many aedyran ships. So it's likely that we will see some Priests of Ondra in Pillars of Eternity. See quote below from Something Awful forums(behind a paywall). -
Moon Godlike
Prometheus replied to Chilloutman's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Here is the quote: In the npc backer survey you could also choose moon godlike, that's the reason they are called moon godlike in the wiki. Edit: the quote is from the current thread in the Something Awful forums. here(behind a paywall). -
Really minor detail is that boreal dwaves have epicanthic folds and mountain dwarves don't have them. There is also a quote from update 20, that could mean that mountain dwarves have dark skin. But more likely is that the quote only means the ocean humans. Do we know the difference between aumaua subraces?

I think this is the first time we've used it in an update. People in this part of the world commonly call the world "Eora". This general region is called The Eastern Reach by colonists. And what is Norwaech? The name of the continent or something different?

We have seen some cheap/beginner robes/clothes: from update 61: and from the gdc presentation:
