Perhaps, but I think the alien card is a little further out. A good possibility that it'll be within our lifetime though.

Socrates’ criticism of democracy (i.e why its BS)
Valsuelm replied to Luj1's topic in Way Off-Topic
Today minorities are not getting favorable treatment. At least not in the US. You apparently are unaware of affirmative action and other government programs which do indeed favor certain people that are generally deemed to be 'minorities'. -
Hard mode is too easy.

There would be literally no way to reach the cap if they did that. I really, really hope Obsidian ignores you crazies... You really need to up your reading comp level. It most certainly would be possible to reach 12th level with what I'm suggesting. -

I'm going to add my voice to this: The XP needed to gain a level, in particular higher levels, is way too low. It currently it looks like: Level | Required XP 0 1,000 3,000 6,000 10,000 15,000 21,000 28,000 36,000 45,000 55,000 66,000 It should be something like: Level | Required XP 0 1,500 3,000 6,000 12,000 24,000 45,000 70,000 95,000 120,000 145,000 180,000 Note, that I don't know the total value of XP in the game, so the above values might need to be lowered. Max level shouldn't be obtainable without completing 80-90% of the game, and one should still be able to earn XP without hitting the XP cap, so the XP for 13th level should be high enough that one could complete 100% of the game and not reach it. -
Trap and secret detection should be a matter of perception coupled perhaps with whatever skill/attribute makes sense. ie: higher mechanics skill increases your ability to find physical traps, higher intellect increases your ability to find magic traps (dunno if this game has any), etc.. Entering a search/stealth mode could perhaps increase the likelihood you'll find hidden things, but it shouldn't be required. Stealth mode should be individualized. Walking should be the norm with a run toggle. The whole fast creeping everywhere in stealth or running everywhere out of it as things are is really really dumb. It belongs on the consoles in games like Final Fantasy, not in a good cRPG and what's supposed to be the offspring of the IE games.

Socrates’ criticism of democracy (i.e why its BS)
Valsuelm replied to Luj1's topic in Way Off-Topic
Whoever creates these cartoons you keep linking is one twisted ****. On topic: The nature of humans has not changed in all of recorded history. The outlines and answers to a lot of modern day insanities can be found thousands of years ago, or one hundred years ago. Socrates was right on about a lot of things that are very pertinent to modern times. So were a number of the other folks from way back in the day. Socrates' position on democracy is a matter of some debate however, as some think that Plato misattributed his own thoughts on the subject to his mentor. Either way, people were saying democracy had some issues in the land that is credited as giving us the idea for it, and correctly pointing out what some of them are. Democracy is generally great if you're with a bunch of friends and voting on which movie you're gonna see, bar you're gonna go to, or what restaurant to eat at. It loses it's luster the more people you involve in it, and is generally downright ugly when you start enforcing what the majority wants with guns. -
In original D&D and AD&D, clerics were forbidden from using all edged or pointed weapons. Crossbows were also a nono. Obviously a DM could override this if he wished. The reasoning behind this is that clerics were supposed to be reluctant to shed any blood. 2nd edition opened it up a little bit by acknowledging that some deities would allow for the use of certain edged or pointed weapons but in general clerics were still forbidden from using all edged or pointed weapons. (2nd edition is 1st edition for the most part without the nudity, demons (they just renamed them), and acknowledging some widely used house rules).

He is the guy who posted the logic fail video about shooting cops. So who cares.. NM, my mistake, I was thinking off Valsuelm. Logic fail eh? Please explain logically, where any fail is. Yea.... Didn't think so.

Places like this are far more significant than you think in the war of information and ideas. Taken by itself, pretty much any forum or bit of social media can be considered insignificant. Taken by itself nearly every conversation ever had in the history of the world can be considered insignificant. It's a mistake to look at things that way however. A hypothetical paid government troll wouldn't just be posting here, they'd be posting many places under all sorts of names. Oby puts maybe an hour or two a week into this forum, tops, he's got plenty of time to troll it up elsewhere. That said, I don't think Oby is a paid government troll, I just use him as an example.

One of the primary arguments Sawyer gave against pre-buffing is that it wasn't a no-brainer to a lot of players. There's a post around here somewhere from a year or two back where he talks about this. Count me in the there should be pre-buffing crowd. Arbitrary limitations such as not allowing it are bad for all sorts of reasons. It's not good game design. Not for an RPG based on the IE engine games or the legacy of AD&D anyways. A console game? Perhaps.

Oh, counting is wonderful! I will count with you. Can we count along with the count?

The Nazis and ISIS got nothing on the enraged SJW twitter crowd. They didn't/don't want to kill half the world's population, and I bet the average Nazi would get a good laugh, and if the ISIS guy didn't he'd be the poor chap jumping off the cliff. That said, this topic has been beaten dead, revived, beaten as undead to deader, revived, and beaten to death again more than a few times now. Let it lie. Dead. Please.

I wouldn't say he was ahead of his time. This retarded **** has been going on for decades. Remember who his next door neighbor was. It's just that the internet has given the manginas and SJWs of the world (and everyone else) a larger voice. As I said though, the pendulum is beginning to swing back around. Al Bundy is and forever will be an inspiration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKvuszF2ts4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zael-KPWOIg

Patch for GoG users?
Valsuelm replied to jowe's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Easy, the actual patch is only that big. Other things that get updated, like the soundtrack in this case (if you own it), can be downloaded separately on gog. On Steam, you get it all at once, whether you like it or not. -
Steam vs GoG redemption ?
Valsuelm replied to endruwiggin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This need to feedback to GoG not Obsidian. Once Galaxy client is out, i'm sure that could get sorted out i hope. No, it's definitely feedback for Obsidian. They're the ones that decided to only release their patch through their various digital distributors, rather than provide it themselves. They have said they are going to have a standalone patcher in a few weeks however, so the issue is being addressed. -
Steam vs GoG redemption ?
Valsuelm replied to endruwiggin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
1. Have patience. 2. Patches are not always good. The patch initially released on Steam yesterday broke a few things and a hotfix was needed. 3. The 1.03 patch is now available on gog. -
Any way to...

Patch for GoG users?
Valsuelm replied to jowe's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
An amusing yet dark bit of humor: In ~50 years when some of these folks who need insta-gratification, have the attention span of a rabbit on crack, and just generally freak out about little things.... people just might die from a delayed patch due to a heart attack or stroking out.... Put some of these folks into an even well taken care of 80 year old body and that's what's likely to happen. Hopefully somewhere along the way they learn a bit of patience and how to mellow out, or they probably won't even make it to 65, let alone 80.
