Ron Paul is the only candidate on the national scene in my lifetime that actually deserved my vote. Unfortunately I think he misread the last election. He should have run as an independent after losing the primary. Unlike previous elections, the landscape was ripe for him. Would he have won? Unlikely I think, but possibly. He certainly would have made a larger positive impact on the nation if he had, and even better exposed the fraud and corruption of the Presidential election process and most of the media that covers it. Sadly, I think he bowed out as to help his son's chances in the future. Problem is, Rand is not his dad in many ways, and just about all of them are for the worse. Alas. I do not foresee another candidate that deserves my vote any time soon. There certainly isn't one currently on the national scene that's looking like they may run for President. The current field is all bad to demonically heinous. You are right in that a major problem is that too many people in our nation are happy to suck on the government teet. Most Americans are socialists at this point, and don't even realize it. It certainly helps when the school system we have by and large trains them to be by selling things like the New Deal, Great Society, World War 2, and so on, like they are and were all actually good things. Cracking that ingrained 'education' is a challenge. But that's just part of the situation. Also, the way the system works now is that even if you oppose it on fundamental grounds it's very hard to not have to engage in some of that socialism (downright illegal now given the 'Obamacare' ruling, and of course there's been the IRS situation for a long time now). Insofar as voting. As I stated previously in another thread, voting for 'the lesser of two evils' is worse than not voting. Far worse. It's one of the major things that's perpetuating the evil insanity that's sucking the U.S. into hell. Solution? Well... that's complex. Part of the problem is that most people don't have the attention span to deal with or think complex. Trained with sound bits, short news blurbs, etc they have been, and this is getting worse all the time now with the twitter/facebook/text messaging generation. In short though: Do one's best to wake people up. As you stated, most people are completely unaware of what the government is doing to them. Even of the people who half or more pay attention a majority of them are naive of the history, why, and how we got where we are. Without that knowledge fixing it just about impossible without some kind of miracle, the kind of which there is none in all of recorded history, so I certainly wouldn't count on it. One thing that would go a long way to fixing the voting situation is a 'none of the above' on all ballots. That way those of us who are engaged in the political process as well as pay attention, can send a message. That's a message that the current powers that be do not want to be heard though. They need to keep that illusion of choice and that 'democracy' is working going. The evidence is overwhelming that it doesn't work (the system was hijacked long ago, and most don't realize it.), and that whole voting for the lesser of two evils is a huge reason why. Bah.. .I could go on and on about this. Oh.. and as for the Green Party. I like Nadar as a person and for his consumer advocacy. As a Presidential candidate? No. Hell no. He's basically a commie, and the Green Party's platform is largely naive of international affairs (as well as Marxist in many ways). He'd never have gotten my vote for President. Nor would any of it's other candidates. Might I vote for them for a local or non-executive national office? Possibly. In my state the Green Party hasn't even fielded a candidate worth more than rat manure though.

You must have some inside information if you're positive that FO4 will be announced at the next E3. If you know that for certain, you should know the answer to your other questions. For me, I think Obsidian would be unwise to ever work with Bethesda again, but if they do, they should negotiate a much better deal for themselves than they did last time.

Your RPG system sucks!

I think you are doing something wrong dude. My rogue, playing on hard: Alright, so.... having not played the game yet, how does one increase their attributes beyond what they initially are (I note you have 23 points spent on Attributes, more than is possible on character generation)? Items? Do you get to increase attributes on level up? (there's surprisingly little info on what exactly happens when one levels up) Something else? (if it's story related please no spoilers other than simply saying 'story related') I ask as it'll influence my character creation. -
Which makes it marginally less safe than caffeine. Still perfectly safe to consume the amounts that people were exposed to on a regular basis. Not really. Just because something doesn't kill you right away doesn't mean it's perfectly safe. Also, consuming caffeine is generally a voluntary thing, being exposed to Glyphosate and DDT is generally not.

Dated art style

My thoughts are that anyone who ever calls any art style 'dated' in any context is a moron.- 27 replies

This is how most people vote. This is major reason why we have the **** we currently have. Continuously voting for the 'lesser of two evils' continuously gets you evil. Voting in that manner puts your rubber stamp of approval on the process and for whatever candidate you vote for. You contribute to perpetuating the evil. As messed up as the U.S. system currently is, I'll take it any day over any of the Parliamentary systems most of the other 'democracies' out there have. 'Democracy' in the modern world is for the most part a bad joke. The illusion of choice is what the situation is almost everywhere. And that said, as a whole nations get the leaders they deserve. 'If voting changed anything they'd make it illegal' sadly applies in most nations these days at the national level, including my own.

I once dated a Canadian goth chica. She was lots of fun, super hot, but unfortunately also super crazy. Best thing that came out of the relationship was she introduced me to The Birthday Massacre (by singing Kill the Lights to me ). Love this band. Possibly my biggest musical disappointment last year was not being able to get away and up to Toronto to catch them live there. I'm hoping to remedy that later this year. 01. Before Dark 00:00 02. Pros & Cons - Steam vs GOG which will you pick and why?
Valsuelm replied to wanderon's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
A tip to all those who suggest you can play in 'offline' mode if you wish on Steam. Note that this does not apply to PoE specifically but to Steam in general, in particular games that are Steam only (which PoE is not, but if Paradox had their way I'm sure it would be). Awhile back I was in a closed beta for a certain company's AAA title (I shouldn't say which as it would break an NDA). It came to light in the closed QA forums that some aspects of the game's AI did not work in offline mode. After some insistent prodding by some of us in the beta one of the devs finally admitted that the AI code was actually somehow tied into the Steam code associated with the game, and that the AI would not work properly if the game was in offline mode or Steam had been uninstalled (something the developer assured the players of it's game that did not like the company's transition to Steam could do (this company had previously taken a public stance against DRM, and insists that Steam isn't DRM)). That's probably about all of the detail I can go into without breaking an NDA, but the short of it is that for Steam only games (again, which PoE is not), it's possible that the offline mode very well may disable or break certain aspects of a game (and not just multiplayer). And all that said. Gog of course. -
Why do people play divinity: original sin?
Valsuelm replied to mrmonocle's topic in Computer and Console
I've only played a few hours so far due to lack of time for a game at the moment, but so far it looks better than almost everything else I've played single player RPG wise in the last 10+ years. That said. OP, you suck, as does anyone else that ever start a thread in such a manner. The Obs forum community lets immature loser trolls start and control conversations all too often... -
If you want to get technical, we're both right, and we're both wrong. The https is only an issue with the youtu.be links on Obsidian forums. You can use https with youtube.com urls. I just recommend avoiding using the shortened link all together as it's not just an issue on the Obsidian forums, but many others as well, as not all forum admins everywhere have set their sites up to auto recognize youtu.be as a video link as most have youtube.com by now (as well have taken into account the https aspect), but to each their own. The forum admins here should be able to address this issue so the https isn't an problem with the youtu.be links and is automatically recognized as a video. I imagine they likely will at some point in time. Perhaps a moderator or someone else with a direct line to the forum admins could suggest the https issue in regards to youtu.be videos is rectified sooner rather than later.
