  1. I installed last night and played for a bit before I hit a bug and quit for the night. Rolled a human Mage playing on Easy. I brought all attributes to 10 then maxed out Might to 19 and Int to 18. I dropped the last point into Con. Gathered the quests and the dialog is fine if a little glitchy (sometimes it would just state which skill check could be used but not the actual line of dialog). Left town to go to the Ogre area and that's when Beetlepalooza started. Those first three trash mobs are less than 100 yards from each other and I think mook placement needs a rethink. The fighting is a little frantic imo and on the third mob my BB Priest got "stuck" on a pile of loot and entered some endless loop animation. I couldn't move her from that spot either by selecting the entire party or her individually so I quit for the evening. Also, the mage I rolled could not display his 2nd or 3rd level spells. I click on the spell level icons and just an empty area appeared. Strangely this was not a problem when I took control of BB Wizard. The spell descriptions leave a lot to be desired and I couldn't find any way to see the damage range of the spells. The skills seem very limited at only 6 choices and none of them seemed great for my Mage so I just dumped everything into lore for lack of a better choice. I had a good long LOL when I saw the Camping Supplies were 100x the cost of almost everything else for sale from the innkeeper. Im also a little confused about the synergy between the bottomless stash and the merchants. They put in the bottomless stash to counter the "degenerative gameplay" of walking back and forth to get all the loot. This creates a problem of becoming too rich too soon by selling everything you just looted. So they had to put purchase limits on the merchants. So whats the point of being able to loot everything if you cant sell it?
  2. I notice that you do not yet have your Backer badge. Have you completed the Pledge Management process?
  3. NooooOOoooooo! Im a chronic re-loader, Im going to be naked before I even clear the basement of rats.
  4. Now that's something I can get behind. Ill get my coat...
  5. Same buff for everyone? Meh. Did you choose Might 100% of the time?
  6. Well, the good news about the beta is that 1) it starts you off with camping supplies and 2) You're never far away from the village inn. Here was my playstyle for the first wilderness map: 1)Fight an encounter. 2) Rush back to the tavern to rest. 3) go back and fight another encounter 4) Rush back to the inn to rest. and then in that map's dungeon: 1)fight one encounter 2) set camp 3) fight another oncounter 4) set camp If Josh thought he could eliminate or even reduce rest-spamming with his crap design ideas, he was horribly mistaken. I think rested more in this 3-map-beta than I did in 7 chapters of IWD1. Speaking of resting in inn's, what did you think of the buffs they provided you? How long did they last? Were the buffs different for each class?
  7. I think it's more fair to say he was leaning towards kill -xp but had an open mind.. I fear the beta will close his mind wide shut and brace the doors with any furniture he can find. My cross to bear was the "rest spot". I definitely prefer kill XP but Im not married to it unless the alternative sucks. I thought objective XP worked in Shadowrun but it really sounds like a stinker in PoE. You guys are worrying me. I want to love this game but I already see myself walking away from it. Maybe I shouldn't play the Beta.
  8. Shhh. If you say that then they will be "fixing" the game for eternity. I haven't played yet but I plan to install PoE tonight after work (thanks to the generosity of a fellow poster gifting me a key). I am concerned about the things Ive read and seen so far (constant resting, no kill xp is wonky) but Ill give it a fair shake tonight.
  9. Unfortunately, a lot of the mechanics of the IE games have been deemed "degenerative gameplay" and have been removed in favor of the systems you see now.
  10. That's delicious.
  11. Ug, you guys have demotivated me to play the game and I haven't even installed the Beta yet.
  12. Marine boot camp.
  13. USS Theodore Roosevelt Conducts Combined Manned, Unmanned Operations.
  14. The little red bar on the left was Stamina and the main portrait area was Health, right? I could have sworn I saw something replenish the Health area but I could definitely be wrong.
  15. Maybe it was just how he was playing. It looked like there were a few ways to mitigate Health loss. I know I saw the Paladin use Lay on Hands and the Priest fired off a couple Mass Heals, but I cant remember if the Priest spells restored Stamina or Health.
  16. Obviously. I was more thinking if there are "objectives" that are considered "met" as soon as soon as you accomplish it. I cant imagine every single "objective" will require you to go somewhere else to turn in.
  17. What about a party member that only reached zero Stamina and was knocked out? Do you figure they will still earn XP?
  18. That's hilarious.
  19. Yeah, I don't really care about the protest. I just loves me some weapon technology.
  20. Deployed by drone. That would be AWESOME. Im a little bummed that I didn't think of it. Although, they do have a LRAD Sound Cannon which is pretty badass.
  21. Ill reload a battle if even one party member dies. The reason being is that you don't earn XP if you're face down on the dungeon floor and I want every party member to be at maximum potential. Although now that I think of it, that may not be required in this wonky system. Since I wont be rewarded any XP until I complete some "objective", maybe dead party members will still earn XP because they will be back alive by the time I get rewarded. Hmm...
  22. So your entire contribution to the conversation is to say that you wont be contributing to the conversation?
