  1. Where is the version of Aloth with feathers? I don't think I've seen that one yet.
  2. might be kind of interesting to have a falcon pet, I'm not sure how they would work it in though
  3. That's not really the case. There might be more choice, as far as the devs changing the dialogue along the way and maybe writing up more options for dialogue, but I don't think you can prove that it will necessarily mean more depth. Part of what makes a line of dialogue memorable or "deep" for me is hearing the power with which it's delivered. One of my all time favourite video game lines of dialogue was the "would you kindly" speech from bio-shock (sort of a spoiler if you haven't played it) that dialogue really stuck in my mind because of the way it was delivered. If it was just a line of dialogue I probably would have just skipped through it without a second glance. Whatever happened to imagination? Good point but why don't we all just take it a step further and imagine we're playing a computer game? We could save Obsidian the trouble of having to make PE at all! It can be whatever you want it to be and I'm sure whatever you come up with will be far better than anything they could.
  4. right there with ya bro. This was funny. But it also raises a moral question, is it okay to laugh at Minsc for being mentally challenged or is it just perpetuating prejudices? Is laughing at retards in a VG kosher or should we all be ashamed?
  5. False, Bilbo Baggins, didn't want to draw attention to himself and he wasn't hiding anything(besides a pair of giant feet and a crippling pipe-weed addiction). He may just not want to draw attention to himself because he doesn't want to be bothered, doesn't mean he has a secret
  6. This is going to sound like blasphemy to a lot of you but most of the "humor" characters in BG always came across as kind of corny to me and I usually kept to the more serious ones. I guess at the end of the day it's different strokes for different folks but I'm not really a fan of vg humor(especially in fantasy) unless it's really good a la portal.
  7. You keep posting about how awesome it is that Edair looks kind of boring and generic, because you assume he's hiding some kind of shocking secret...but what if he really is just boring and generic?
  8. Okay just no. Nothing about that dude looks proud or majestic. Let's not forget the "furry race" thread had to be locked and that is exactly what Aumaua will be if they turn into cat people. Obsidian, please keep them mostly human and if you have to give them bestial traits make it subtle. Yeah, also lets not forget cat people have been done before (khajit, among others) so I really hope those were fish stripes and not tiger stripes.
  9. If it has a subtitle it's going to be X: requiem or X:rising. That's literally every subtitle ever.
  10. All we've seen of them are two pictures which ( I'm not sure what orcs you're looking at) don't look very orcish. The two defining characteristics of your typical fantasy orc are greenish skin and tusk, and these have neither. What were you expecting exactly? Well remember dolphins and whales are aquatic and also mammalian,so its not that far out there. Imo they would look better bald, I don't know about the fins though.
  11. min-maxing is the devil's work and should be purged within the fires of RPG purity. it's the black and white pictures, not the two cat-like pictures <Tamerlane> posted beneath them... I know, I read the post. Tell me you don't see a striking resemblance.
  12. That's what Aumaua look like? Jesus Christ they're thundercats.
  13. I think Aumaua are filling the "humans but bigger" role. So I doubt they will go that route, but I agree with you that it would be better.
  14. The point is though, that older cRPGs are the "new kind of cheese." Gouda and Cheddar? That's all the newer, more modern games. I don't think you're not getting the analogy here. The cheeses are the Crpgs emphasis on the C as in classical, we aren't talking about dragon age or mass effect at all. Crpg's had a distinctive style and focus when compared to modern day rpgs, it wasn't just the fact that they were old that made them good, they were their own genre. He is saying he wants a new and updated crpg hence "new cheese" not the "Gouda and Cheddar" that are PS:T, BG, ect. There all still cheese's though, the newer more modern games would be like, c0cktail weiner's or something, nobodies eating weiners at this cheese festival.
  15. This never really bothered me before. I suppose it would be nice if they matched up, but I can't say I really care either way.
  16. Now you and me are probably the only two people in the world who actually liked that movie, but I agree with what your saying. A similar feeling to the world would be kind of interesting, perhaps they could relegate it to a certain area though to keep things from being too post-apocalyptic, as I doubt that's what they are going for.
  17. Okay I admit it, I only voted yes because I liked how you typed everything in a pirate voice.
  18. Is there any word on druid animal companions? That might make this discussion kind of redundant.
  19. Ech, yeah very true. I mean I think the dev's had a list in one of their updates, about what they thought were like the main things that made crpgs appealing(Isometric view, good story, ect.). And yeah, If they preserve that stuff but update the rest, I'm thinking OP will probably rekindle his crpg love, heck it'll probably bring in quite a few new players as well.
  20. To be fair, it may be that he isn't expressing boredom with crpg's in general but instead, with the crpg's themselves. True PE is inspired by these games, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to copy them exactly it's still a new IP. To use your cheese example, if he went to a cheese festival and said, "Why do we keep eating Gouda and Cheddar over and over again I want to eat a new kind of cheese", I don't think it would be so bad. If everyone here just wanted to play the same three or four games over and over again, we could, they're still there.
