  1. ^ I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume it boosts either stuff that has the Poison keyword, or stuff countered by anti-toxin (just like Alchemy boosts stuff countered by anti-toxins.)
  2. ^ it makes sense if Eothas stomped on it and shattered it to pieces, like he apparently did with Whispers of Yenwood (which was always whole in the first place.)
  3. Agreed. Hopefully the Watcher will get some style too in future updates
  4. ^ Personally, I’m not a fan of giving the player everything the companions have. It cheapens companions and makes them feel less special. Granted, clothing are not the same as giving the player the marine godlike subrace or the watershaper subclass, for example. There would be no reason to play Tekehu anymore once you know his story as he wouldn’t bring anything special to the table. Even then, I like that Xoti’s looks are unique to her. It’s part of her character. If I could go around looking the same it would feel less special—kinda like buying a piece of pret-a-porter clothing and running into someone who’s wearing the same
  5. Fleet Feet would serve you better than DAOM; DAOM’s pretty crappy in Deadfire.
  6. No idea about achievements but they are balancing abilities now.
  7. I, for one, would love for Xoti’s starting outfit to be unique and have its own enchantment path. This would keep it viable for the entire game; it looks great and I’m reluctant to give Xoti anything else.
  8. Odd that they would gate the bonus behind a specific dialog path with Eothas. Once it’s out, it’ll become the go-to dialog path because it’s the only one that gives an in-game bonus. There goes my hope for an elegant solution to the “evil pays” conundrum.
  9. My pet theory based on the above: In the first game it paid to be a jerk as it got you two permanent bonuses (gift from the machine and effigy’s resentment.) People who wanted those bonuses to carry over got what they wanted, as you get them when Eothas gives back part of your soul in Hasongo. However, some people complained that being good got you nothing—and the devs must have thought (rightfully) that getting back a portion of your soul without any in-game effect would have felt underwhelming and unrewarding. So here’s to catching two birds with one stone, and that’s the bonus you get from your soul if you were a good guy who didn’t absorb souls from the machine and sacrifice someone to Skaen. Woedica’s bonus is a must-have if it affects all party members. Otherwise, it’s a must just for caster Watchers.
  10. Why, what’s controversial about it? I agree there’s no challenge in the game in its current state. Even the devs agree. I don’t have a problem maxing out earlier than the end of the game because I enjoy the apex of my power more than I enjoy the process of acquiring it. But when I reach the apex, of course I want appropriately high-level content to go through that can challenge me. EDIT: I’ve run a completionist game on PotD and I certainly had less than 2/3 of the map unexplored when I maxed out. Game stopped being a challenge after I reached level 12-13 but that’s a general issue with PotD, rather than with my leveling.
  11. Me too You can buy all the brains you need at the Dark Cupboard, one per day. Bit tedious but it works.
  12. Reaching max level when the game is over makes no sense. Max level is when the real fun starts. If there’s no content left to enjoy the power I’ve worked on building up, then I worked for nothing. But yes, PotD is too easy as already openly admitted by the devs.
  13. IIRC, you can buy one at the Dark Cupboard in Neketaka and two at the Fampyr location to the bottom right of the map (splintered something something?) Stock should replenish everyday.
  14. Tekehu’s rod gives +2 PL with Water/Frost spells and I don’t think it’s restricted to him.
  15. O_O Possibly a bug as I don’t see how the armor’s backstory can make sense if she was sacrificed to the blood pool. I know what I’ll be doing until it’s fixed... +1 PL from Woedica is potentially the best if it applies to all party members. If it’s Watcher-only, it only really makes a difference for casters.
  16. Now I’ve got to know where Gift of Hope is from! It’ll be easier to test these once they implement the “skip intro” button, though. I strongly advise against sacrificing DoC to the blood pool as that would prevent you from buying the best armor in the game once you reach Neketaka.
  17. I think you guys are clinging too much onto a single sentence meant to be an example of what the team are doing, rather than exhaust it. Josh has already mentioned on SA, Twitter and Tumblr that he’s revising class abilities and weapons, and that they’re reducing the impact of Empower. They said they’re listening to the feedback and they have telemetry data to top it, so there’s no reason to assume increasing the number of enemies is all they’re on to. With that said, facing a higher number of foes than on other difficulty settings was a staple of PotD in the first game so it makes sense for it to a thing in Deadfire too.
  18. In PoE I just cheated to give myself camping supplies so I wouldn’t have to sit through all the loading screens
  19. Retraining wipes all Watcher abilities. The devs are aware, AFAIK.
  20. I’ll see what I can do about the files when I’m back from my holiday next week.
  21. I don’t normally bother with achievements. I did this time because of the in-game effects.
  22. Amazing news! Looking forward to the patch and any future content for Deadfire. I loved the game and I love to see how dedicated the Obsidian crew are to making it the best it can be
