Ansalons Armor Tier List
Bit on the off-topic side but hiring someone full-time and being their boss is quite different from contracting someone for a time and being their client.

Are Fig and Pre Order Items going to be sold ?
AndreaColombo replied to Skett's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The Obsidian sword is actually a battle axe. If our experience with the first Pillars of Eternity is any indication, those items will probably not be made available otherwise (with perhaps an exception as a reward to returning backers as was the case with Gaun’s Pledge? If and when a third game is crowdfunded, that is.) I understand your sentiment as I’ve felt the same about other games in the past. If it’s any consolation, those items have either no in-game effect, or a rather unspectacular one.

Is Fleshmender really that much better than Garari Cuirass?

Beast of Winter impressions
AndreaColombo replied to handsomenat's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)The old lover thing was actually the focal point of the short story Eric had written about Edér. I thought it was a nice tie-in.

[Backer Rewards] Physical Reward Updates
Why would your tee be shipped separately, though? Sounds pretty inefficient.

Is there any efficient way to counter the Beserker's Confusion status?
After all this time, do you think the “less INT = higher DPS” shenanigan might actually be intended? I mean, after PoE there’s no way Obsidian could be unaware.

Beast of Winter impressions
AndreaColombo replied to handsomenat's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)For the base game, Eric Fenstermaker wrote most of Edér. Josh filled in the missing bits. For BoW, it was Josh and Paul.

So: Why Do People Hate Sorcerers And Thaumaturges?
I think an exception should be made for Tekehu: His Druid subclass is top-tier.

Essence Interrupter builds
Wow, both my bug reports from yesterday are already at the bottom of page 2 (and unanswered, but that I expected.) O.o

[2.0] Cap of the Laughingstock doesn't have partial hair
There are hats in the game that cover a similar portion of a character's head and show partial hair; looks like this one didn't make the cut.

Ring of Prosperity's Fortune?
Josh mentioned in a QA stream that their tooltips are generated by code that reads the item's properties, and he attributed inaccuracies to the code's shortcomings. I have no way to disprove this, although frankly it shouldn't be too hard to make the code read the specifics and give us the hard numbers. Clarity on these matters has been requested since the PoE days, and certainly during the Deadfire beta days. As for the thresholds, they should be visible in the JSON that has the ability. Let's see if kilay can tell us

[2.0] Frostfall doesn't benefit from Secrets of Rime
SAVED GAME: Link STEPS: 1. Load the attached saved game. 2. Select Tekehu and go to his character record screen. 3. Observe Tekehu has both the Heart of the Storm and Secrets of Rime abilities. 4. Go to Tekehu's inventory. 5. Select his second weapon slot (Lord Darryn's Voulge) and in right-click it. 6. Observe it deals the best of Slash/Shock damage: 7. Check Tekehu's penetration with this weapon. Observe it benefits from Heart of the Storm: 8. Now select his first weapon set (Frostfall) and right-click it. 9. Observe it deals the best of Crush/Freeze damage: 10. Check Tekehu's penetration with this weapon. Observe that it does NOT benefit from Secrets of Rime: Frostfall should benefit from Secrets of Rime in the same way Lord Darryn's Voulge benefits from Heart of the Storm.

Essence Interrupter builds
Guess we’ll need a bug report for Frostfall’s not getting the extra penetration point from the talent.

Essence Interrupter builds
Does Heart of the Storm work with this bow? Tangentially, does it work with the soulbound Voulge (and Secrets of the Rime with Frostfall)?

Viewing class trees outside the level up screen
AndreaColombo replied to RoiCohen's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think Brandon said in the last QA stream they are actively looking into it. Nothing further has been said about it officially, AFAIA.

[Class build] Lady of Pain - the b!tch is back
I did entertain the thought of going Devoted/Berserker on occasion, although Devoted/Helwalker eventually won out. The Brute can certainly be built to great effect, but it bothered me to miss out on +10 MIG (which is very consistent with the LoP concept) and +10 INT in exchange for a Carnage ability that isn't but the shadow of its PoE self. Granted, a Berserker brings more to the table than just Carnage, but especially at lower-levels I like Monk's abilities better. Helwalker/Berserker wouldn't, in my opinion, make a great combination. Helwalker really needs Constant Recovery (and any other source of HoT) to offset the extra damage taken while hoarding wounds, and a Berserker would effectively replace it with DoT from Frenzy. The inability to see one's Health while being exposed to 50% extra damage also hurts, whereas Thunderous Blows wouldn't stack with Frenzy and you'd miss out on +2 Penetration. Paired with how meh Carnage is in Deadfire, I would still favor Devoted/Helwalker by several orders of magnitude. A case could be made for the Devoted/Berserker build as mentioned above, although the Brawler just pushes all the right buttons with me. If you're willing to dual-wield, I suggest using sabres since you can always switch to the Monk's fists when facing highly-resistant or immune foes. Min's Fortune in your main hand, and any of the following (depending on availability and personal preference) in the off-hand: Scordeo's Edge, Grave's Calling, Beza's Toothed Blade. Since you would no longer need the Helm of the Falcon, you could replace it with Heaven's Cacophony for Avenging Storm, or Fair Favor (once you complete Serafen's quest) for extra damage with sabres. Two-Weapon Style instead of Two-Handed Style goes without saying. I personally still prefer 2-handers, though I realize in Deadfire they are overwhelmingly inferior to dual-wielding since there's no DR and no way to reach 0 recovery.

We really need to talk about XP
AndreaColombo replied to lord_wc's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)The second half of the game isn’t worthless—it’s when the real fun starts. Finally we get to enjoy the full extent of the power we’ve built I’m not saying the game doesn’t have a balance problem, because it does. However maxing out when only one encounter is left (or very close to the end of the game at any rate) is something that would personally put me way off. I want to spend as much time as possible maxed out, for that’s where the real fun is (at least for me.)

Seeker, Slayer, Survivor DLC leaks?
AndreaColombo replied to aksrasjel's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I’m also on Team Rekke, and honestly I’m slightly irked by the fact that most people want Ydwin because waifu. Rekke is from a mysterious monotheistic place nobody’s heard about, which in my book is as interesting and fascinating as it gets. Oh well.

First impressions after testing some of the new weapons
The Hylea gauntlets (not sure what the exact name is) aren't bad, either—though I don't think I could get them to apply the Raw DoT? May need more testing. The +5% Slash damage is applied to your final damage (i.e. roll + all modifiers); however, in the case of a critical hit it is actually slightly higher than final figure * 5%, but not quite as high as (final figure * 5%) * (1+25%). Not sure how the math is: The same is true for the funky new helm that looks like an auroch's head, and adds freeze damage to your next successful attack (10%, but slightly more on a critical hit.) EDIT: In response to a post in the previous page, I did get The Power of Money ring to proc a few times with 69k gold. Definitely working. EDIT II: The Raw DoT from the gauntlets actually works exactly as advertised, except it is not communicated in the combat log. It merely shows the number on the character's head, so it's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. I actually really like these gauntlets.

AndreaColombo replied to AndreaColombo's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Gonna give this another bump because, well—not gonna take this armor for granted if it's not confirmed to be worked on Bring on the badass red armor with the golden trims and fancy runes
