  1. I agree with Kark (and thanks for putting the comparison together, by the way.) The new portraits--and I mean the lot of them--are all consistent in style whereas those from the first game aren't. This is something I noticed while playing PoE as well; not necessarily a big deal per se, but style consistency is certainly very welcome. Indeed, it is the main reason I don't use custom portraits: They won't be in the same style as the originals. Regardless, the new ones aren't that bad and I could certainly get used to them. Sure, those from the first game were really good but the style would clash big time with the rest; they wouldn't show any change in the characters (including aging); and there's Pallegina's order problem as Kark mentioned.
  2. Amazing stuff, MaxQuest!
  3. IIRC Dimitri confirmed in the last Q&A stream that there will be more varied, cool-looking armors.

  6. I'm pretty sure whatever price you pay now is still going to be smaller than the full retail price when the game's released. It's Obsidian's way to account for the time value of money and be fair to their backers.
  7. I'm happy with it tbh but if they make it into an option, more power to them. Options are good to have.
  8. Pretty sure that's on purpose. It's called depth of field and mimics the inability of the human eye to keep everything into focus at all times regardless of its distance.
  9. Sail health, huh? https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/892178250209804288
  10. Yeah, Bobby Null mentioned that in the original Fig video. They've got a streaming system in place that loads interiors in the background after you enter an area so you won't have to sit through a loading screen each time. Graphics are absolutely amazing from all standpoints. My only criticism, and bear in mind this is very minor, is that the book that carries scripted interactions looks very flat. I understand this might have been done for readability, but it's still a little jarring to see pages in a tome like that be 100% ruler-flat. 00:49 - The whole scene is lovely per se, but those tables and chairs right under the giant watermill (which is clearly soaking the ground) make no sense! XD
  11. To say that the game looks beautiful would be an understatement. The new features also look like they're all kinds of fun! Love the luminous hair on Tekehu, by the way
  12. Unfortunately, yes. Josh confirmed in one of the Q&A sessions that there won't be unique items walled behind the RNG in Deadfire, so there's hope.
  13. ... and cyan circles for neutral characters. Let us not forget cyan circles for neutral characters
  14. First sighting of Serafen's in-game model along with a bunch of pets: https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/891713244548575232
  15. The beta hasn't been released yet; the game isn't even out of alpha at this stage as far as I'm aware.

  17. I like dragons very much in general, and I think PoE's take on their development is pretty cool and makes for some interesting unique ones (e.g. adra dragon and sky dragon.) I'm curious about what new dragon designs await us in Deadfire, though I agree it shouldn't be always just dragons when it comes to boss fights. I wouldn't like a completely dragon-free game, but more variety would be certainly welcome. Granted, PoE's peculiar take on soul cycle and cosmology pretty much rules out celestials and demons or devils, so that's a good chunk of cool monster design that's out of the question.
  18. You can still back the game and get beta access from the backer portal, IIRC.
  19. Very cool stuff! I love items with extra heavy metal points Also nice to learn that Maia has a unique subclass.
  20. It's a picture of Thaos by our very own Barbedbeat
  21. There's a pretty good chance that's actually a piece of fan art they received (that's what they usually hang on the streaming room's walls.) Also I think you'll have a better chance to get an answer from a dev if you ping them directly on Twitter
