  1. "It works either way considering the subject matter!" No.
  2. This thread is getting me mathematically rigid.
  3. If the tradeoff for being able to speak my mind freely without fear of government reprisal is enabling a minority of dumbasses to spew ****, then I'm happy to take that. Some people just need to grow thicker skin and understand creepy **** exist.
  4. I'm afraid disagreeing with your authoritarian leanings isn't trolling Bruce.
  5. So the only way freedom is acceptable is if they don't do anything you disagree with? Afraid that isn't freedom.
  6. Since we're already off-topoc, can someone explain foot fetishes to me? Never really understood the appeal of that.
  7. I think we are all aware of your distaste for freedom Bruce.
  8. I initially understood that more as hunger, but haven't read the book in a long tome. Will make a point to reread that asap.
  9. Actually, 'Tep, vampire stories have always had a sexual element to them. Dammit, Dracula is a love story, unrequited to boot. I've read cultural critiques of vampire fiction, from Anne Rice's Vampire Lestadt to True Blood as analogues for AIDS, BDSM and all everything else inbetween. Dammit, if Christian Grey had fangs then Fifty Shades might have caused the World To Explode. So Twilight, if you want to look at it's subtext as piece of stunningly successful popular culture, actually subverts what was traditionally a dark, adult trope (forbidden, dangerous, otherworldly lover) and dumps it smack-bang in the middle of young adult literature. You can't ignore that cultural baggage. I'm not suggesting the author intended to do anything other than write powerful YA fiction, but you need to know the clay from which you intend to fashion something better than she did. Admittedly I haven't read Dracula in a while, but can't remember the the romance angle. Will have to put that on the very long list of things to read. Will agree that vampires have always had a sexual element. Vaguely recall that early incarnations were corpses come back to life to have sex with spouses
  10. I suppose we get into that whole beauty in the eye of the beholder thing. For instance, never really understood why people like romantic comedies, but don't really care. Perhaps I'll have to reread the JMS run. I remember liking it less near the end, and disliking the three storylines mentioned by grom quite a bit, but was ultimately able to greatly enjoy it in spite of that. *shrug*
  11. I've always felt the Twilight movies had "rapey" undertones, having seen only the first and last. Besides, the acting is terrible.
  12. Amazing Spider-Man 2. Sort of meh. Wish they would have worked in more character interaction and reduced some of the action scenes. Not sure what to think of the Rhino.
  13. Went to a party for a few hours. Currently in an altered state of mind. Managed to get a girls number, but can't remember if she was hot.
  14. Was intoxicated for much of posts, so perhaps that is why they're haphazard. Not sure that saying I can deal with 3 godawful storylines in a 6 year run is makig loads of excuses, but find quantifying "loads" to be a difficult task. *shrug* anyways, find that good entertainment is often scarce across all media. Find most television serials, movies, comics, novels, and poetry we've sampled to be refuse.
  15. I made it through. Feel like the survivor at the end of The Cube.
  16. Preacher I kinda cheesey, in that over the top action movie sort of way. Part of the reason I enjoyed it so much, to be honest. I thought Sandman was great, but it did have some low points. JMS run on Spider-Man was largely fantastic. I'll agree with it souring towards the end, but don't know if I should pin that on JMS or editorial, who seemed to want a very different Spider-Man. *shrug*
  17. 'My ex made me take her to see Twilight. It was terrible. I'm surprised such a high budget film could feature such bad acting.
  18. ^If it makes you feel better GD, I'm young and vote in every election. Agree that more participation would be better, but find it very hard to convince some to get off ass. I don't need luck, I got madskillz.
  19. Am wondering if you've actually had New York pizza at this point. A slice certainly isn't the same category as a half-pound burger, but certainly more than an appetizer. Would also like to see what sort of toaster oven you have if it can cook a pizza that large. Not really offended, more....bemused, I suppose. Find preference for tomato covered meat pie a bit strange. Writers also worked interchangeably on Marvel titles. Don't suppose stressing that my preference is for the Marvel universe over the DC universe, not the publishers themselves, would clear things up. *shrug* As to Alan Moore and the most recent League volume, was simply stating dislike of it. Attribute that to a random thought. Huh, thought the analogy made perfect sense. Perhaps a general statement that applies to both would be acceptable. I'm able to enjoy entertainment even if they have glaringly bad aspects. Like the combat in PST or the story arcs Sins Past, The Other, and OMD in JMS' run on Spider-Man. Feel obligated to point out that the first was drastically changed by editorial and JMS has stated he wanted to retcon it, and the second was pretty much the EiC doing fan fiction. Doesn't exactly excuse such bad stories existing, but invokes some sympathy I suppose.
  20. Am not seeing how a bunch of ingredients plopped into a pie crust is complex. Will admit that New York pizza is simple, but simple is good. Would be interesting to see attempt at cooking it in a toaster oven, suspect it would go over as well as asking random women on the street to sleep with self. Personally didn't like that storyline, but was able to overlook those 5 issues out of the 6 year run. Course, was also able to deal with ****ty combat and balance in PST as well, so perhaps posses high tolerance for cheese. *shrug* Fair enough. Try to explain clearly. *clears throat* we prefer preacher to tdkr 'cause we prefer blatant outlandish obscenity to the hardboiled. we wouldn't call preacher the favorite, as you seemed to think it was, but definitely one o' top ten. we prefer tdkr to recent work o' alan moore, 'cause league o' extraordinary gentlemen century too pretentious. root o' all this is we saying marvel is better than dc. we don't think of vertigo titles like preacher and invisibles, which we associate with their creators, as dc titles. perhaps if we had said we prefer the marvel universe to the dc universe, point would have been much clearer. HA! Good Fun!
  21. Am taking last final in about an hour, then getting some sleep.
  22. ^I'm sure Batman could come up with a lightning repellent or something, but The Funk is a different beast. It masters you. @FH, yes we are off topic, but there are several other threads dedicated to PoE mechabics. Sides, those have become engulfed in Pedant analogy wars, which are boring.
  23. I wonder what mutated Kangaroos and Koalas will be like. Only mutated? ....I really wish they would work a giant Robo-roo into a Godzilla movie.
  24. Don't ruin my dream of blasting away Deathclaws in Madison Square garden! *cries* I wonder what mutated Kangaroos and Koalas will be like.
