Coins in Project Eternity

A little bit of shameful advertising of my old thread. About Economy in cRPG -
A special "playground"
DocDoomII replied to pid's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Witcher 2 arena style? I'm not that interested in such a feature, but seems kind of cool. -
I know it's still not a reality, but I'm pretty confident we can get to 2.6 million before the Kickstart ends (and we still don't know how the paypal section is going), BUT I had an interesting Idea. As I gather the Hall of Heroes will give us the ability to create custom companions much like Icewind Dale saga did. But, what's the main difference between IWD dale companions and BG and P:T companions? Party banters and personal quests! So... how about this: When creating a custom companion we can choose a prefabricated 'story' for him and that will grant us banters and quests! It doesn't need to be too specific, like an only rogue past, or only elf past and such. There could be maybe up to five 'story' and they don't even need to have the same detail and complexity of normal companions. They just need to give the feeling that the custom companion is not 'lifeless'. I know that this is well beyond the scope of the 2.6 million goal and will probably need more founding, but I think it is a much needed addition for all of the players that don't plan on using the Hall of Heroes for how 'blank' the companions could end up being. Thoughts?

Translations
DocDoomII replied to jerf's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
No need to recreate the whole translation, I'm sure that you can use the official translation as base and work from there.I've had some problem with official translations too (I'm italian), that's why since Final Fantasy 7 I started playing in english whenever I can (seriously, I even bough Deus Ex: HR two times because the one sold in italy had only Italian and French dubbing. The horror.). -
I love Candlekeep... but!
DocDoomII replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't dislike Kandlekeep at all, even now. The only thing is that the area is rather big but the content was rather "small" and all of it was intended for tutorial purpose. And all those tutorial monks around were rather silly. I'd like a tutorial a la Withcer 2, short, placed in a place not too big (so less dispersive) and optional. You do it the first time, and then skip. -
You are wrong their main focus is not 15 years old kids, it's casual players. And that's way some publishers stated that they are starting to go down the road of 'free to play' games. The kind of games born on platforms like facebook and now are commonly called apps and are supported by any kind of mobile handled device. This approach encompasses a vast amount of people and the games, are full of microtransaction options to progress inside them for people who are too impatient to play normally (or because the games are created to force you to spend money) , or just game-greedy and don't understand how much they end up paying because each transaction is just 0,99€/$.

Graphics style of Project Eternity

Uh? Having more pixels on the screen doesn't mean that the details will be smaller if you play fullscreen. -

The new kickstarter update mentions that they will release translation tools for the community. Everyone should be happy now. -
Why Death is important
DocDoomII replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Uh, a horrible though crossed my mind and I felt a chill down my spine. You know, thinking about souls and how they are important in P:E world, about reincarnation, 'body-pooling' of souls... I hope that to defeat the last boss the game won't pull a Saint Seiya on us with party members sacrificing themselves to boost our soul with their... -
Or how people would strip Khalid in BG and send him to fight alone so he'd die and they could have Jaheria without being forced to have him. I wasn't the only one who did that? Uh, actually if you split a couple by bringing the one you don't want into a different area (a house for example) and remove him from the party, then you don't need to kill him.

Why Death is important
DocDoomII replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think something like falling unconscious to the ground when HP is 0 and then you have a certain amount of time to be healed or you'll really die. If everyone get knocked out then is game over. By getting unconscious you could get a permanent injury that require something more serious on the healing front to be fixed. -
Not telepathy but maybe something like the axii sign in conversations in the witcher 2?

2.5 mln goal question
DocDoomII replied to GrayAngel's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I thought they said godlike races. They could be organized as subraces though. -
Or maybe with patches / expansions (not DLCs)

That's true. They need a group AI for each group of enemies and an Alarm AI for nearby groups.

They may have differences like being both able to charm a person but:Wizard: can only command him to do something for him and not armful to himself or his friends Chiper: can completely bend his will into doing anything (I think there is such a difference between 2 "charm" spells in Baldur's Gate saga, don't remember about IWD saga)

2.5 mln goal question

I would be cool if there was at least a companion for each class though.
