  1. Holy ****, a Spinebuster! Somewhere, Arn Anderson is smiling.
  2. Good lord, I certainly wouldn't want to be part of a forum where the only opinions of anything ever where all just lavish praise. That would be one disgusting giant circle jerk. As for playing a game you don't like. I agree, most of the time if I find a game crappy, I do indeed just stop and never play it again. There are times though, when a game is infuriating me, yet I keep playing it because it shows some faint promise of getting better, or the story pulls me in to the point where I want to see it through to the end. Case in point, Two Worlds 2. By all accounts, that's a truly bad game. Yet it got better through the middle part, opening up into fairly large areas to explore, and even having some halfway decent story progression and interesting side quests. By the time the game devolved into a horrifically tedious slog at the end, I had invested so much time in the game, based of the faint promise of it getting better (boy was I wrong), that I just wanted to see it through to the end. In hindsight, I should have stopped and digitally burned my copy of the game, but at the time I was holding on to a faint glimmer of hope that it would return to the somewhat enjoyable game it was in the middle part.
  3. Sawx broke out the brooms and swept the Yankees right out of Fenway. Buchholz struggled with his command a bit, but he battled through it and got stronger as the game wore on. I'm starting to think they may get to 100 wins. They'd have to go 8-3 in their remaining games, so it's unlikely, but definitely possible.
  4. Man, I knew the Seahawks defense was good, but holy **** they're good.
  5. Yeah, **** went down, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This whole season has just been amazing. They keep cranking the intensity knob up every episode. How is that even possible at this point? Where so many good shows have gone out with a whimper, Breaking Bad is going out in a blaze of glory.
  6. Ugh, it's so miserable being a Cowboys fan. They're so awfully mediocre. They have these flashes during the games where they look good and like an actual professional football team, then they go through stretches that make you cringe as you watch them. Just ridiculously sloppy and boneheaded plays. Case in point, the end of today's game against the chiefs. Cowboys are down by 1, 15 seconds to go, on their own 4, no timeouts left. Granted, they're not going to win the game anyway, barring a major miracle, but they should at least give a good effort. So what does Romo do? He throws a check down to the -1 yard line smack dab in the middle of the field. Winds up being a 10 yard gain or so and the clock runs out. Why the **** would you throw a check down to the middle of the field in that situation? What, the running back is going to get 101 yards after catch? Might as well pencil the team in for another 8-8 season. /headbutts wall
  7. I saw that on GOG. It looks very Rastan-like. Is that a fair comparison?
  8. There's already been a Firefly movie, it was called Serenity.
  9. Emperor Palpatine has been hitting the juice
  10. Still playing Of Orcs and Men, just killed the head foreman. I should have gotten Styx's focus skill earlier, holy **** that makes a big difference. When in focus mode he criticals 3/4 of the time, and since my skills and abilities (for both characters) are all built around criticals and inflicting vulnerabilities with criticals, obviously it's a good fit. The other good thing is that going into focus mode doesn't take nearly as long as some of the other modes, like sharpshooter, or carapace for Arkail.
  11. It doesn't help that they didn't air the pilot episode so many were a little put off by not having been introduced to the characters. Or that they aired episodes out of order (yes the episodes were mostly self contained, but they also had a running plot that spanned multiple episodes), or that they didn't advertise the show much, or that it got preempted several times , or that it got the Friday death slot. It was set up to fail from the start.
  12. I'll never stop being pissed about Firefly getting ****canned. Never.
  13. Using a deuglyfying mod for Oblivion is definitely recommended. Vanilla Oblivion has some shockingly ugly faces.
  14. Yeah, some people have this weird misconception that steroids made Bonds a great hitter. He was already one of the best hitters of his generation. And I don't need to see receipts or drug tests to know he was on something, my eyes do the job well enough on their own: I mean, you can change your body naturally through proper nutrition and hard work, but there are limits. In other news, Sawx got their 90th win last night. What's even better is that it came at the expense of the Yankees. Oakland is on a hot streak right now, so the Sawx need to keep winning to make sure they get the #1 seed. It would be nice to get that all wrapped up with some 3 or 4 games left in the season so they can rest guys and set up their rotation for the playoffs.
  15. Holy ****, it finally happened! Good gravy, that took a long time. In other news, they changed the picture on the gateway login page: For once it's something that doesn't include gratuitous cleavage. I mean, even Valindra was flashing some cleavage. Who wants to see lich boob?
  16. Oh that tricky Brian Fargo, fooling people into thinking that this wouldn't be a new Wasteland by calling it Wasteland 2 and expressly saying that it's a follow up to Wasteland. Nefarious.
  17. Agreed. It should be noted, however, that he rushed for practically nothing the entire rest of the game. Still, that run was fun to watch.
  18. The level scaling in Oblivion in general is one of the worst things ever put to code. Just utterly awful. You could eventually outlevel the level scaling, but because Shivering Isles was an expansion that started at level 20, the top of the scale was higher. I think in Cyrodiil the level scaling stops somewhere around level 25 or so. In Shivering Isles I think it's closer to level 35.
  19. I've played Oblivion more than any other Bethesda game, probably the tune of at least 350 hours. I would estimate 75% of that time was spent in the Shivering Isles. Once I got that expansion whenever I would start up a new game I would either cheat or grind my way up to level 20 just so I could go the the Shivering Isles and mess around in there. Heck, I probably spent 50 or 60 hours in New Sheoth alone, mostly in Crucible. For whatever reason, I generally preferred the dementia side to the mania side of the island, particularly of New Sheoth. There were some amazingly entertaining quests: Inserting yourself into utterly ridiculous paranoid conspiracies, pushing a guy off a building, operating traps to kill adventurers in a dungeon. Good times.
  20. Yeah, by all accounts the flash forward is somewhere 6-10 months into the future.
  21. Shivering Isles is the best thing Bethesda has ever developed. True story. If only the Oblivion main game was even 50% as good.
  22. They kind of are. Guinea pigs are their closest cousins. It's possible to keep a squirrel as a pet temporarily, when it's really young. Occasionally people come upon baby squirrels that are in peril and will probably not make it on their own in the wild. You can take one of those in and take care of it when it is young. Once they mature, though, they need to be released into the wild. They are not suited for living indoors. They may well come back to your yard from time to time, though.
