  1. Dark Souls 2 Aching Bones trailer: Now that <Microsoft "sevice" which shall not be named> is officially dead (soon, anyway), I won't have to worry about this being saddled with that abomination and I can look forward to scooping this up.
  2. I got enough AD to upgrade my Acolyte of Kelemvor companion to purple. So now I set out to do the Sharandar stuff and she's gained 2 levels already (the quest reward XP helps a lot). 3 more levels until she's maxed out and becomes a full fledged Doomguide.
  3. I'll take a Bastion if you're still feeling generous. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197971335644/
  4. Exactly the reason why I stayed as far as I could from MMO's for years, got the impression from pictures like Agiel just posted that MMO's are aimed at people who use those hentai nude mods on Skyrim and the like. Playing SWTOR did teach me that most players aren't weirdos but still I find it disturbing to see people, who in all likelyhood are men, playing with characters who look like they spawned from some 14 year old's wet dream Sure, MMOs are the place where people run around in their underwear, you'll get that no matter what MMO you play. The stuff Agiel posted I can deal with. Tera, though, also has got some really disturbing furry and loli fetishes going on.
  5. I played it for a short bit. I found it way too creepy for my liking.
  6. Started playing Grim Dawn alpha again since the B12 release came. The B12 release fixes the framerate stutter, introduces new NPC faces, and has a bunch of balancing changes. The beta should be out in a couple of months, and the next mastery is likely only a month away (Squee!). For the time being, I started up a new character. I'm going pure Occultist with this one.
  7. Sawx beat the Os and avoided getting swept at home. Boston has owned every other team in the AL East this year, except the Os. They've been a thorn in the Sawx's side all year. Lackey took a big step toward earning himself a spot in the postseason rotation with an thoroughly impressive 2 hit, 1 run complete game. Also, the Sawx clinched a postseason berth, but that was never in doubt.
  8. Wow, that's... umm... wow. Remember how up in arms and doomsday people got with what happened with Broken Age (aka Double Fine Adventure)? And that was while people got all their physical rewards, and the game is still going to come out, and it's going to be significantly bigger than originally planned, it's just coming out MUCH later. I imagine people are/will be going nuclear over this.
  9. Intrepid adventurers Sven Bjorntorg, Anvilor von Hammerstein, and Grizzelda Lil'Rock encounter a vicious giant goblin After defeating the monstrous beast, they check its corpse for the spoils of war
  10. Counter-point: In a Kojima plotline, out of place technology ranks pretty low on the nonsensical list.
  11. MGS5 gameplay from TGS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9imLig0GrQA#t=251 Damn, that does look good and give me a bit of console envy. Not enough to get me to buy a console, mind you, but enough that I would likely scoop this up and deal with the standard ridiculously convoluted Kojima plot to play this, were it ever to come to the master platform. I always get a kick out of red barrels in video games (not just in MGS5), presumably packed with explosive liquid. I can just picture the goon squad form Evil Military Outfit X. Goon 1 - "Hey boss, we got a truck coming in." Goon 2 - "I think it's a shipment full of red barrels, boss." Boss Goon - "Yeah, we ordered a bunch from Explosive Red Barrel, Inc." Goon 1 - "Where do you want us to put the barrels, boss?" Goon 2 - "We have a secure, safe storage cage, over in the corner of the compund, away from heat sources and possible vulnerable str..." Boss Goon - "Shut up smartass! I don't pay you to think, I pay you to walk around, unload stuff, and occasionally shoot innocents. Now, here's what you two are going to do. Take the red barrels and distribute them around the compound. Make sure you put at least one barrel near each guard tower. Try to get some near support columns for vital buildings, and if there are any left, put them near barricades, on the side we would be on, in case we would ever get attacked."
  12. Basically yeah. GTA basically created a genre, GTA3 specifically, and that genre became synonymous with with GTA, and thus GTA became a well known brand name and achieved mythical status. A status not necessarily undeserved, mind you, as I thought all their games were quite good with the exception of GTA4 (can't speak for GTA5 since I haven't played it). It's the same thing with CoD or Halo. Once the franchise gains enough mainstream popularity, it reaches critical mass, then it become a self-sustaining hype machine. At that point, it almost doesn't matter if future titles are good or not, as once the hype machine is in full effect it's very difficult to derail, whether from external or internal forces. Usually once a game series catches fire like that and becomes a popular trend, the franchise will keep raking it in until the trend burns itself out and people move on to the next thing. I would say that Shenmue created the genre and GTA3 just made it about violence. Still I guess the GTA, the COD, and the Halos can be proof of separation between discerning gamers and casual ones, so I'm not so angry about them being successful (though I do get a bit mad when someone credits them with innovation, as is the case in point ) In the end its just evidence of the industry's growth and of how badly managed it is, capitalist nowadays expect opportunities to come to their door, knock, wait for them to answer and then do all the work. My mistake, but GTA3 popularized the genre anyway. Point is GTA was the franchise that became synonymous with the genre, to the point where other games in the genre are commonly known as GTA clones. Once a franchise becomes synonymous with a genre, such as GTA with sandbox, or CoD with modern military FPS, or Diablo with loot em' ups, it's nearly impossible for another franchise in the same genre to take over the top spot, regardless of which franchise is actually better (which is subjective anyway). It would take a massively terrible game to derail the hype machine, and even then, the hype machine may keep functioning on pure hype and brand recognition.
  13. No, it was a typo. Grizzelda is a priest. I changed the post to make it accurate now.
  14. Nice. Mine is: Sven Bjorntorg - Human Warrior Anvilor von Hammerstein - Dwarf Wizard Grizzelda Lil'Rock - Dwarf Priest If I could name the party it would be called Norse & Carnage.
  15. I found the best way to rack up points in TK Mayhem is to grab a ball, throw it, then grab it in mid-air and pull it back to you quickly, before it gets out of TK range. Once I got adept at it, it was as if it was on a string, like playing paddle ball with a really massive ball and stuff exploding.
  16. Finished up Of Orcs and Men on hard difficulty today. I enjoyed the game despite how linear it was. The combat system was the highlight of the game, that and the voice acting for the two protagonists, Styx in particular. I do hope they turn this into a franchise as the 2 hero party and the combat system worked quite well and could be turned into something pretty special if expanded upon and refined. Also, I would have appreciated more open areas so I could try to approach encounters from different angles and adapt different strategies. There are a few slightly more open areas or with multiple paths later on in the game, but for the most part it's single corridor city. There were a few difficulty spikes during the game where I had some real trouble getting through battles on hard difficulty. In particular the few parts where you were reduced to playing a single character, as all my strategy and skill upgrades were all based around the two working as a team and creating openings for each other. For the most part, though, with proper strategy the fights were manageable. I did like how proper strategy made a massive difference, to the point where you'd get obliterated if you just rushed into a battle without proper planning and teamwork, while the same fight would be fairly easy if you used proper tactics.

  18. Nothing is wrong, typical day at work, plus having fun playing Card Hunter during break.
  19. This success will likely mean bloated AAA budgets will soar even higher, thus speeding up the impending AAA game model collapse. I say let it collapse.
  20. Playing some Card Hunter on break at work. Pretty sweet that I can even play this from the ancient computer I use at work. I can now take my intrepid heroes Sven Bjortorg, Anvilor von Hammerstein, and Grizzelda Lil'Rock adventuring while I munch on a sammich at lunch or twiddle my thumbs on break.
  21. I'm at 94%, I want to get to 100%. I really suck at Super Power Fight Club, though, so it will be really hard for me to get Gold on those activities.
  22. Same here, but I also accessorized with the Gat shades. I do like the knife launcher. I mean, it's a big gun that fires knives, what's not to like?
  23. You want people to buy a game based on the amount of money the developer used to make it? Sorry, I buy games based on how much they appeal to me, I don't care how much they cost to make.
  24. Card Hunter - Who knew a browser game could be this freakin' good?
