Mature themes you'd like to see in the game
Politics: not just the standard rebel vs. tyrant theme but more detailed plots. Tough decisions: sacrifice vs. greater good, killing vs. letting live... Justice points of view: Laws or feelings? Spirituality Concepts that are taboo at modern times but were held moral at past ages such as Slavery, Execution, Human sacrifices, Village sackings, Genocides, Inquisition, Prostitution. Love at tough times: not talking about give enough gifts and get laid stuff. Some romance in the middle of battles and adventures can be very interesting.

Concrete (and reasoned) ideas for HOUSING.
Uhm. Cool. Now maybe you will go back to your Sims. Or to watching Leliana singing at the campfire. What's wrong with Leliana singing at the campfire?...

Troops? Attacks? I didn't pay for an RTS. Amazing idea. Reminds me of Dr. Parnassus...

Dragon Age-style Tactics and other non-pause combat interfaces?
So something similar to the Total War series of games? Where there is a pause, a slow, a normal, a fast, and a doublefast option for gameplay speed? In this case I suppose you could scrap the double fast in favor of a few more slower options, but a slider would be ideal if it were integrated anyways. Starwars was the name of the poster who gave the OP the idea for the thread. The Old Republic was never mentioned. >.> Edit: I also wholeheartedly agree with the OP. The DAO feature was a godsend and I would love for something like it to make an appearance in Project Eternity. It was. It's hillarious when you can't spend 30 seconds to read a post but still feel obliged to answer.

Humor?
I love both humour and mature themes, especially when they're used together.

Healing
I could go for an adventure simulation. A more open world sandbox game with random missions and dungeons. Where you'd need to worry of all that stuff, wounded party members might die of infections or stay crippled. Don't want that stuff in a game with a strong storyline, but basically that'd be a new kind of game I'd like to see.* Flashpoint was awesome, btw, somehow I don't like Arma (or arma2) as much. *Mount & Blade is awesome as well, but not the same thing. I mean yes I respect your tastes but Obsidian's (or former Black Isle's) strong side is storyline. It causes so many things to be scripted which already leaves so little space for any kind of sandbox mechanics. While at it, why not just heal our party with the super-mega-but-somehow-only-usable-out-of-combat-5-sec-healing-spell?

Using Looted Clothes and Armor
Duh, please no more needless boring details for the sake of realism.

Dragon Age-style Tactics and other non-pause combat interfaces?
@OP; just for info, SWTOR is probably one of the least customizable games around. I'd rather give each party member skills that you can choose up to 4 or 6 (to avoid the complexity) and go on with pause-real time format.

Healing
This so called realism discussion is getting out of hand. First off, you have played many cRPGs that have instant healing after combat and I'm sure it wasn't this particular "flaw" that bothered you. What bothered me is the system in Icewind Dale: You fight with a goblin pack and you rest for 2 days in the middle of nowhere and continue your adventure like nothing happened. It kills the atmosphere like mad. It's like all the evil forces you fight are there waiting for you all the time. I really don't get this realism concept... If I can throw a fireball from my hands, or raise skeletons, why not heal all my party with a spell? You know what? I'd rather face extremely tough opponents that I can barely beat with a few members of my party dead and rest at 10% health and afterwards heal/res up in a minute, then face stupid minions that do minor damages to my party and force me to go back to towns to fill my health bars every few hours. What you guys are trying to suggest is more like an adventure simulation. You want to carry your wounds till the end of the game? You want to stop to eat and drink for half an hour? Fine, shall we add no spells or magical creatures since they're not realistic? Hey I've got a game for you called Operation: flashpoint. And no I haven't played it cause I hate realistic games.

Armour and weapon designs - a plea.
Again it's not about being historically accurate but BELIEVABLE. Ok then prepare to fight Komodo Dragons since they're the only believable species of dragons available. In short, if you want a game that has magic & giant creatures in it, weapons are armour need to match. Your warrior needs to be literally superhuman (or superdwarf) to be able to fight a, say, dragon and you can expect him or her to wield a large sword. I'm not saying I want anything tastlessly exaggerated. I'm saying we should be open to fantastic or even outlandish designs IF it supports the fantasy setting. In addition to that, none of that realistic armor and arms posted above are obtained through legendary quests or anything. They are simple forged stuff. Say, in later parts of the game, you're going after an optional quest to obtain the shards of an ancient artifact from millenia-dead ghost kings. Would it be more believable if that super-legendary sword looked like this sword fresh out of the town blacksmith? or, say, this sword from WoW?

Armour and weapon designs - a plea.
I completely disagree with the OP. If we're adventuring in a fantasy world, let the armor and weapon designs reflect it. If you want a historically accurate theme, you should play a historically accurate game.

Romances, yay or nay?
I'm all for romances but having to choose your partner out of your companions is flat out bullcrap. Why does my mage needs to date a warrior or a rogue? If I was a male hero it's much more likely I'll have a peasant girl or a princess as my partner. If I'm a female hero, my probable partner would either be a companion or a noble. I'll probably be ok with whatever they add but given we don't have VO or 3D cutscenes in P:E, I'd prefer it like this: -My PC has a charisma score or a built reputation with opposite and same sex NPCs (companion or not) and we can hit any of them when our reputation is enough and in case they are also interested in us. (I'd also hate if every single NPC is interested in us.)

Please don't ban exposition from dialouge
I love flavour text and what not, but I agree, too much exposition severely wounds the pace of the game. On the other hand, tomes and tablets thrown around the game areas are lovely.

The Chosen One
Being special is only good if there's no other way the story could've been written as in PS:T. Otherwise I'd prefer to work my ass off to become a deity rather than learning I already am one as in BG2. I'm quite alright with being the normal guy though.

What party selection system is best?
Well, it's just that I want to be relaxed about trying out a companion without risking losing one that I love.
