  1. you remember Hrothgar in chapter 1 of Icewind Dale? its basically a place where adventurers who haven't been chosen by destiny go to die...
  2. BG2 style, no more, no less...not EVERYONE has to be romanceable, perhaps one male, one female and that'll be that. The rest can be handled by modders /shrug edit: I do want player friendship though and npc banter, that is a MUST...otherwise whats the point of joinable npc's?
  3. classes are well and good but i kinda don't want to be limited by them... why is it that my fighter can't learn lock picking again? anybody? If my fighter has nimble fingers and is plenty dextrous whose to say he can't learn a useful skill from a street thief? its little things like that that irk me about rigid classes.
  4. quest based XP works superbly in low magic, low wealth worlds because everything is more easily manageable...you simply won't get rich grinding for droppable items from fodder because even those items will only fetch you the bare minimum at the market place. for example in BG2 it was possible to collect 20,000 gold without doing a single quest, all you had to do was loot barrels and dead bandits/goblins...something like this can't possibly happen because in a low wealth/magic world people don't throw away gold in random barrels. You will only get rich through quest completion and proper skill development at higher levels.
  5. some of the best NWN mods i played had a quest centered XP system...you still got 1 or 2 points for killing fodder but your bulk would come from quest completion. That's not to say that if you encountered a unique high level monster you wouldn't be rewarded XP for killing it, it only meant that the XP you actually get becomes that much more significant. i approve of this direction. also, OP, go play Fallout 1-2...
  6. i just want to have a large party (at least 6 people) who bicker and banter and call each other out on their BS...why, why is that so hard?!
  7. shh...keep it down. you're liable to loose your head if you keep talking all this heretical claptrap. I mentioned something similar in another thread and it was none to popular a suggestion. edit: judging by the things you want i don't think this game will appeal to you friend-o.
  8. man oh man, Stun is fervently "anti-clock"... I bet you show up late for everything bro, Just to prove a point! I suggest we drop it guys, I think he might hurt Feargus if there's even a hint of a timed event in Eternity. I don't want it nearly as bad as you hate it.. Let that little boy burn in his house for months on end, see if I care.
  9. level scaling? is that when those cellar rats you kill as part of your first quest can still hurt you when you're a demi-god because they "scaled up" to your level? sounds like some ole bullshlt to me!
  10. god i love that trope... ah, nothing like hearing broken Brittanian to make me feel like I'm walking amidst the unwashed masses. "Oy guvnah, trouble you for a pence!" <~~~~lol whatever that means!
  11. haha yeah i remember i could actually hear the voice of a harlot propositioning me every so often in the background...**** was great.
  12. ...Why did the thought of Feargus Urquhart in a swimsuit pop into my head when I saw this topic... edit: oh god, thats exactly the point of this thread!!!!
  13. hold your horses there young'n! I don't want an entirely silent game... I can't even fathom a BG2 with a silent Irenicus. Blasphemy i say!
  14. I'm thoroughly uneducated in the economics side of the gaming industry--but isn't producing an Infinity Engine style game a Gajillion times cheaper than it is when producing something that uses one of those bleeding edge 3D monster engine games that make your circuit boards cry out in agony every time you fire up the game? I mean, if you commissioned a studio to make Baldur's Gate or Planescape in 2012 would it really cost as much as the Witcher 2 or Dragon Age 3 to produce?
  15. I like the way you think my friend, living worlds are where its at... Like i said a lifetime ago (a few hours) in a thread long forgotten: I'd like to have a rival character that appears to make things move, at least from a narrative perspective. It would be almost like an active personified agent of the environment (from the Player vs. Environment term) working against you that wasn't in any significant way tied to the main villain or conflict in the story but had his/her own goals that occasionally clashed with your own. This character or group could serve any number of roles but I think it would be nice to have them as a "fist-shaking" agent that frustrates you and seems out of reach until the end. there really is no end to little things that could be scripted in to make the world feel more alive...
  16. my +5 godslayer would preclude the need for such a triviality... it whispers to me that somethings should be solved with violence.
  17. i think most people shy away from that kind of story telling because it may hurt feelings or some other PC nonsense...psshh... I'm all for mobs running me out of town because some human raped my grandma 50 years ago. Bring it!
  18. wait a minute...a player house reward implies i start off as a homeless man... does that mean i've made poor life choices or have my parents decided to disinherit me? oh no, I'm an orphan with a mysterious past aren't I...
  19. look guys, if i can't be a beautiful and unique snowflake I don't think I wanna play anymore...so there...
  20. i want to assume that 6 people either have shaky hands due to a terrible drinking habit or they just hate life and all the good things in it...
  21. ^ wait so you want a private jet? wouldn't that, you know, break immersion?
  22. good god, my eyes are bleeding... hey man be nice...I'm sure whatever he said can't possibly be bad enough to warrant such a reply. I, of course wouldn't know, apparently my brain has somehow blocked his comment...some form of instinctual self defense mechanism to protect me from brain damage perhaps? edit: no but seriously...no sims <_<;
  23. -oligarchies centered around an elite class of people with supposedly divine blood -Matriarchies were men are 2nd class citizens -tribal and clan based societies (the lower tech ones) -Magocracy, rule by those with superior magical powers and frankly how about a good old fashioned attempt at a democracy in the greek style? to name just a few edit: oh god and definitely a slave based society, how the hell could i forget that? (us evil scoundrel types wanna own people every now and then)
  24. npc's should only drop what they have on them (stuff they use)...that includes all equipment and things like keys to chests (for any extra loot)
  25. i think its a cool perk but i never really saw the point in it except as a huge storage space for packrats...personally I'll be too busy questing and smiting to be playing homemaker so this is a take it or leave it option to me. Now if there are interesting quests (even minor personal ones) tied in with home ownership then i'm all in. At the least i hope they throw us a few crumbs like they did with the strongholds in BG2. edit: Crossroad Keep in NWN 2 and SoZ was badass i'll admit....but this is a player HOUSE, not player CASTLE haha
