  1. only the most veteran of BG players ever realize that the Rogue is in fact the most broken, OP and fun class to play... between the stealth skill, backstab x5 (x7 for assassins), invisibility potions and haste potions/boots of speed, FEW mages could survive more than a few seconds against a well prepared rogue...even Irenicus was turned to mush by well placed traps before he could even get his contingencies off. Dealing with fighters was just a matter of speed/poison/backstab/arrows and everything else was just fodder. so as to the question of stealth killing in a game? HELL YES, NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.
  2. please add it...especially if you're gonna hide diamonds inside random tiny tree holes just outside of candlekeep <_<; either that or make a search skill that serves the same purpose...kthnxbye
  3. I want my rogueish character to have the option of "chunking" an annoying brat if he so chooses...or simply busting a cap in his ass. don't put limits on my morality dammit!
  4. I still remember the first time i played an IE game...BG2...the sheer awe I felt traveling through Irenicus's dungeon culminating in his "battle" (more like massacre) of the cowled wizards who stood in his way, no modern game has ever captivated or intrigued me so much with a opening sequence. I was SO impressed that I stopped playing that game IMMEDIATELY and went and bought BG1 so i could start the saga from the beginning. By the time i finished ToB and became a god i had a sense of satisfaction that none of these soulless 3D worlds has yet to replicate. I later played Planescape: Torment (wow) and IWD1-2 also masterfully done... IMO Neverwinter nights was a step down but forward at the same: down in the sense that it didn't feel as rich as its predescessors but forward in that it spawned a bright age of story/quest fan modules that no other game series has ever come close to matching. the ONLY modern game that has even come close to recapturing that old style flavor is Dragon Age: Origins...and sadly, we know what that series devolved into with its sequel. so to answer the isometric vs 1st person view, my answer: F-U-C-K FPS and all these supposed graphical advancements, use updated tech to make my glorious ISO something that BG, PS:T and IWD would envy and be proud of!
  5. That is like saying that a story does not have a point... Pretty sure the story was about being the son of Bhaal and Irenicus's plot, but okay. They were completely optional and you had to actually mine conversations with the companions to get them. You could avoid them completely and it never affects the story one bit. I just thought they were silly little minigames, and what's worse they didn't actually change anything after (apart from the companion staying in your party), which made them even more jarring. it changed the epilogue and the "farewell" they give you if you choose godhood or not at the end of ToB...the romances also added in some small personal quests of their own
  6. if they use a bleeding edge engine where we can see every detail (also zooming)...then what's the point really? oh no, i'm not talking about a bleeding edge engine...i'm thinking more along the lines of an Infinity engine on steriods: All the goodness of IE but buffed up so that my warrior avatar can have more than one swing attack in combat you know...or rogues adopt a sneaking posture when sneaking instead of merely "fading out" magicaly etc. things like that, nothing too major or bleeding edge, just some logical updates for added flavor. i'd never opt for giving up thise in game descriptions though, no way.
  7. everything ypu said plus: if this sh1t is as good as its IE predecessors i'm hoping for sequels and expansion packs to carry my character through to the bitter/happy/glorious end!
  8. me having more money...i'm broke ass motha****er man /sad
  9. man i can't even believe what i'm reading on that first page (couldn't even make it to the second)... the Jaheira romance and Viconia romance and redemption in the BG series was freaking awesome and only served to flesh out the world and your party members. You people have no soul. I'm all for anything that adds flavor to the game and the characters.
  10. I'm just curious. I loved all IE games, but if you guys are working with a new one (eg an "Eternity engine") that improves upon the old ones goodness I would really like to know... super duperly excited for a game like this either way! I hope you guys can recapture the magic of that brief moment in time when IE reigned supreme in the cRPG world!
