  1. I can only imagine that after 12+ years of IE modding they are desperately seeking something new but similar to sink their fans into.
  2. I'm thinking the wizard will have something similar to the DnD warlocks arcane blast (which is just raw magic) as a base attack and anything more complex than that will require the different grimoires and thus need to be "recharged"... so hopefully a "charge" based grimoire system with some cooldown mechanics when switching between grimoires.
  3. the.game.is.moddable! UNF-UNF-UNF.....HNNNNNNGHH!!!!!! now all i need is the cipher class and i will die in a disgusting pool of my own ecstatic juices!
  4. man, if this guys ever actually leaves I know for sure I will miss his great capacity for unparalleled butthurt. and here's something you might not know...it's not that us more moderate "traditionalists" (or should i say less insane?) like the way the gaming industry is evolving, it's that we have no goddamned choice or say in the matter...our day is done, aside from a few small projects like this, it's OVER. Learn to move on or just quit gaming.
  5. I think the soul is a great way to hook into a sequel...transmigration anyone? ...oh god... this is why I keep my geek interests private, so I'm not in any way associated with morons like this... it's a fantasy setting jackass!
  6. let's give credit were it's due...everything about NWN was bad except the one thing that mattered: it's ability to allow hideous little nerds like us the ability to make custom content. NWN gave us an age of glorious fan modules with stories, and sometimes even gameplay innovation, that beats the hell out of most RPG's since that era.
  7. BG's had charm, dire charm, domination, control undead, control monster, control animal and Bhaal knows what else...its been too long.
  8. I dont think i've ever even played Throne of Bhaal without the famous Ascension mod...
  9. i'm gonna be a terrible person: Eternal: VaporWare
  10. ah the old Jedi vs Sith debate....both sides never realizing they are completely insane, hopeless and deadlocked in an un-winnable battle. Meanwhile, us Greysider's are living it up, sipping on tiny umbrella drinks and experimenting with different play styles while the other 2 groups destroy the galaxy.
  11. I think it might just be the classes...but you never know. I don't mind a barbarian character but I might have to murder a Cipher character on sight, otherwise I won't be as unique!
  12. new dungeon level here we go...its gonna be a durlag's watchers severed hand keep! the local library...its got 2 things: internet access and an abundance of homeless and unemployed people. watch out for the crazies though!
  13. an elven mage with a sword and the key to his heart on his chest hyuk hyuk hyuk!
  14. *mobilizes the homeless legion*
  15. hahaha this is what happened to me but he calls me a filthy BioWarian because if i played DA:O it must mean I like the cooldown system...which is really what this whole factions nonsense boils down to in his head: Fancy-man Vancian magic system versus the cooldown crap.
  16. Eternity: "that's how long you'll be waiting for this game"
  17. Nope. But perhaps I want to read one selcted preview sentance or anything. I'm fine with not revealing much, but I'm not fine with not getting anything and having only mechanics take the spotlight. Perhaps it's just in the nature of how they set up the pledges or what they feel comfortable talking about in the updates at this point. But you would kind of expect them to talk about stuff that get you excited rather than the opposite. hahaha i can only imagine the perpetual rpg-codex like butthurt that would swell into a cacophony of anguish if they started giving away parts of the story as "preview"...because then, imaginations will do as they do, and build expectations to unfathomable heights and all that we're left with will be enduring disappointment. no way man, let's just stick to whining about concept art and whether or not cooldowns will be in the game and how we can't get everything we want. we'll all be happier that way.
  18. and the expansions will be called: 1 guy in the overlight and Face of the Loyalist
  19. the core game is getting made, it was getting made by day 2 of the kickstarter...the rest of it is just extra stuff, if you don't like what a stretch goal is you don't have to pledge for it. personally don't care about houses, adventure halls or barbarians...but I want that f*cking Cipher in the game. So I give a few bucks in hopes that we make it. its impossible to please everyone, and if you even bother trying you will end up pissing everyone off...just focus on what you like about the game, and if that's nothing then leave...no need to be sad about what doesn't even exist yet. edit: Oh, and if you guys are expecting the devs to spoil the story to see if you'll like it, regardless of what the rest of us who don't want to be spoiled think? F*CK YOU.
  20. oh I see what the problem is...you wanna read the last page of a book before the first is even written...gotcha.
  21. I think you misunderstood my "good enough for me"...I loved that real time with pause mechanic in the IE games because, as I recall, right there in the options menu it gave you the choice to have the game pause after EVERY CHARACTER ROUND, meaning if you wanted you could have the best of both worlds: a system very close to turn based or just pause whenever you need to strategies for those of us with no need to plan an attack against a horde of rats (I don't need to waste an hour doing this each time) as for what I will pledge? i'm currently raising as much funds as can since i heard about the project...but if i had to do it last minute i'd pledge anything that wouldn't leave me homeless or starving.
  22. bro, I don't know anything about this or that faction...all i can say is that i've been playing 'puter games since i learned to walk back in the 20th with the old text based rpg's. From what i know combat is gonna be pause, issue commands and play, very much like in the IE games and that's good enough for me. If I had the testicular fortitude for a criminal's lifestyle I'd join a stick up gang, rob a bank and pledge all my cut to fund this bitch! oh and I liked Dragon Age: Origins, even if most of you didn't... **** DA2 though if that makes me a BioWarian rather than a codexian then so be it, so long as this game gets made.
  23. ^ i don't think there is multi-classing but think there are going to be cross class abilities and skills available judging by how mages can purportedly wear plate-male and wield two handed swords now... so a cipher with rogue-like abilities sounds quite possible...and very intriguing.
  24. I just see it as introducing a nearly identical mechanic. Using psionics to persuade someone rather can casting Charm or Friendship. It's science fiction vs. medieval fantasy. I would rather them spend their efforts creating spells which influence the mind, rather than an entire new class and mechanic to achieve the same effect. look man, it all boils down to this: Ciphers are cool cats who wield guns and swords, wear long black trench coats and get all the wimminz just by being cool as ice... mages are nerdy pocket protector types that wear dresses, glasses with tape in the middle and who are friend-zoned the instant they meet a co-ed npc...
