  1. To be fair, Original Sin has a metric boatload of recycled dialogue.
  2. The game was started in 2009. It is currently 2014, and even with a successful fundraiser, the game still acts like an alpha. And yet people say the above quotes and yet condemn Obsidian for doing something horrible such as market their game?
  3. This isn't real life. It's a game.
  4. http://www.obsidian.net/jobs/open-positions They don't seem to be hiring writers, and even then, you'd need a resume.
  5. So, Divinity Original Sin kind of just won this thread. Been playing with people for days.
  6. In a DLC for New Vegas there are members of an unnamed religion that is never specifically labeled as Mormonism and IIRC Josh Sawyer has said it wasn't exactly Mormonism. Yup... I painted it for fun.. I did Keldorn and Aerie too but Minsc's is my favorite. josh made very clear that new canaanites developed from mormonism... even the name, honest hearts, is coming from a Brigham Young quote: "Honest hearts make for honest actions." HA! Good Fun! Hearts is the DLC I'm going to next, Good to know.
  7. No it doesn't. You are an outsider asking them to put in something "just 'cause". Whatever they put in their games is there for a reason. It's not window-dressing.They are not going to put in sexism just because some people find it offensive that it's not realistic to reality. It's not a hard concept.
  8. If they want MP in the game, it will be given due resource management.
  9. No matter how many big and fancy words you use, at the end of the day you are advocating for sexism in a video game for the sake of sexism in a video game. You can't deny that. You really can't. You can't say Pillars is based on some real life feudal system. You can't say the devs are keeping it out because they are victims of social warmongering. Both of which are your positions that you have stated. You're arguing for sexism for the sake of sexism. For what reason? So you can feel good about how intelligent you are and so you can perceive to win an Intellectual Victory. What a load of socks. I can certainly understand why some may prefer avoid exploring and discussing the various kinds of oppression but don’t think your feelings are uniform for all women or any other oppressed group. I personally make little money; live in a tiny single room in a downtrodden neighbourhood rife with dilapidated buildings, drug dens, half a dozen homeless people, prostitutes and so on. This doesn’t stop me from having an invested intellectual interest in class inequality. Did you seriously just compare being verbally and physically harassed due to your gender with.... not making much money? And besides that, did you seriously just brush her off with "well, just because you feel threatened by men daily does not mean all women do. Be a better woman". Next, you'll probably tell me that me having Asperger's is the same thing as you stubbing your toe.
  10. I'd like to point out we are discussing the "strength differences" of a fictional work.
  11. And the lurker takes the shot. Because The Witcher's immaturity has to be justified somehow. So let me get this straight. We need sexism in video games because it would be politically incorrect to not have it. What. Are you smoking. And you say Obsidian - let's just assume for one second that they are going to make the male and female characters equal because, oh I don't know, it doesn't matter either way what gender your main character is? Are you seriously accusing them of being "weak" for actually having morals? You do realize that by advocating for sexism in a fictional world, you yourself are being sexist? Don't even bother giving me that "feudal setting" ****. That's just you hiding behind some vague pre-conceived notion of "the rules" in order to spew your ****. Don't think that you're any better than the users that argue against female main characters or ladies being warrior classes. You're not. You're so not. You're the kid asking why they can't say the N word "if blacks can call themselves that". As for everything else you wrote.... I should stop writing lest I write out some extremely harsh words.
  12. Never played C3. By the way, guys, this may come as news to some of you, but apparently you need to keep expanding your food intake as your population rises. I guess I know how to get past a population of 40 now. Also, do not build more than you have people designated as Builders. There is no Que system, and they will just run around like morons.
  13. Banished is a city building sim that is so much more than that. It's basically a 'try to not kill your entire village that you're starting from scratch' sim. You were kicked out of your old group/tribe/civilization, and now are forced to rebuild your own way in the wilderness. Imagine, if you will, Civilization, but instead of just building junk in one city then moving on, you need to micromanage everything. Your citizens health, their education (which is actually amazingly important), their general happiness. Oh, and make sure they don't freeze the death. Or hoard food (they do that). Or friggin' murder one another. Or drown. Or die in fires. It sounds pretty basic, much like Sims, but it is much more nuanced and in-depth. And unlike Sim City where you are rather limited in how your towns look (after a while, they all just end up becoming blocks of houses and electric poles), you can really create some impressive villages. I was able to split Gabentown up into residential, commercial, and industrial fairly early on. I could set my coal mines to the side, away from my core settlement, and place a line of fisheries along the coast. Up to my north was town hall, and all of the crops and pastures. But in all honesty, it's as if FTL decided it wanted to be Sim City. It's still on sale on Steam. Not as cheap as yesterday, but still discounted.
  14. Wasteland 2 is awesome. What's your issue with it?
  15. It makes sense for the pre-made PCs to be the only ones with story attached. Otherwise, there would be no way (or it would be extremely messy) to have custom PCs have dialogue, etc.; so yes, if you so please, you can ditch the female warrior for a male warrior.
  16. Kind of, but the concepts are different. VO: "If X is taken out of the Y mechanic, the Y mechanic will improve!" MP: "If MP is in the game, then X can't be!" See how they are different? Both are logical fallacies, though. So you're complaining about how other people play. Gotcha. Of course I am; because they are inherently not me and thus play differently. Complaining about multiplayer because it is multiplayer is redundant. ... you're adorable.
  17. Everyone go see Chef. Dear God.
  18. Again: separate swing sets on the same playground for different functions. Really, what it comes down to is this: "they *might* put X in the game, but because they already announced multiplayer, they won't!". It's absolutely no use arguing that something that does not exist was cut for an actual announced feature.
