  1. That's true, but at the same time there is something satisfying about looking at each and every building and knowing "I can go there!". Fewer arbitrary restrictions make the game feel less "gamey" and more immersive.
  2. A big city is good, but what kind of big city? The Athkatla model of discrete "zones" within a larger city, or the Baldur's Gate model of one continuous city that you can explore every inch of?
  3. Please provide evidence that millions of customers are "lining up" for BG:EE. Because that's the amount of people you need to sell to for publishers to be interested. It's not a matter of millions - the game is being developed (or at least overhauled), and it's being released nov. 30. If they can make it happen, and they enjoy doing it, why can't Obsidian? Do you understand there's a huge, HUGE difference in required financial resources between touching up an existing game and making an entirely new one? They can make a profit on BG:EE with a much smaller number of buying customers. Also why the **** am I arguing with a troll

  5. I think game developers shouldn't make promises they can't keep. If you're going to retcon our decisions from previous games, don't allow us to import saves. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a "canon ending". Importing just your character shouldn't be a problem, though.
  6. Where do you have that info from? I did not get that from any video or info on Kickstarter... I did get that they would like to re-create a similar experience to those old games. A Kickstarter comment by Feargus Urquhart himself:
  7. Just FYI, with bigg's widescreen mod, you can unlock just about any resolution in the IE games: http://www.gibberlin...net/widescreen/ But high resolutions do make everything very small.
  8. Absolutely no reason not to choose "all of the above".
  9. Duh. Lack of portraits was one of the worst things about NWN2. Those disembodied 3D heads looked rather horrible.
  10. I doubt Obsdian have the resources to do multiplatform development for this game even if they wanted to (which they don't). I imagine if it's a smash hit there's a chance of a port to whatever consoles are around in 2014.
  11. The most important thing is that if there's a slider of any kind, it should be HIDDEN FROM THE PLAYER. No metagaming for influence points!
  12. Storm of Zehir system is good. You had to get hit very hard to die there, because after knocking somebody unconscious your enemies generally chose another target.
  13. Hahahaha no EA aren't about to allow their employees to aid a future competitor, anyway.
  14. Actual published books are silly. I would like to see books containing short stories inside the game world, like in the Elder Scrolls games. Those really add depth to the setting.
  15. Warden's Keep? Not to mention the sequel. That was optional DLC, though. Was there player housing in DA2 ? I didn't play it to completion, truth be told (what a letdown to the first DA, imo)...however I wouldn't call the house of your Uncle player housing -if that's what you are referring to. It was more a base of operations. Potato, po-tah-to. Anyway you get your own house in Chapter 2.
  16. Warden's Keep? Not to mention the sequel.
  17. Multi-language support is a must for every major Kickstarter project. It's about accessibility. It's in the same category as having a DRM-free release, and releasing on Mac and Linux.
  18. That's not the only reason not to have full voice acting in a game.
  19. I can say with a high degree of certainty that it won't make ten million. The schedule is already very tight. Adding more money will in fact give Obsidian more reason to extend it. More money = more months of salary that they can pay. And that's precisely what they should be doing. More time = more polish, better game. There's no way around that.
  20. I for one despise randomized loot. I love the feeling of exploring a world that's been hand-crafted right down to the smallest detail, where everything "fits". Baldur's Gate was beautiful like that.
  21. This poll shouldn't have multiple choices.
  22. New Vegas DLC = expansion packs by another name
  23. Who says this will have races at all? How about a humans-only (or humans-mainly) world, Game of Thrones style?
  24. That's not necessarily true. On the contrary, now that the game is a "sure thing", many more people may pledge so they can get their copy when it's released.
