Steam Box, Nvidia Shield, Steam OS ETC: Not Supporting Controllers in 2014 Released Game Is NOT Forward Thinking
Yeah, you're forgetting that the only way to really play DayZ is to buy ArmA 2: Combined Operations and install the mod. That's not going to change anytime soon. Maybe no one will buy one of these specifically for ArmA but no one is going to buy one of these for the platformers that make up the bulk of native games, either. Also it's incredibly difficult to take Valve's word of titles available when their store stats count DLC as separate games.

Worse case? No. There are 287 games available through Steam that can be played natively on these things. Games streamed over a WLAN is the reality.

I don't think Microsoft would go that route but GabeN seems to think they will.

Valve is just giving itself an option to remain in business if Microsoft forces all software in all versions of Windows to be installed via the Windows store and bans other stores. Steam O's and the Steam Box will be shown to be a giant steamer, especially when anyone tries to play ArmA with that controller streamed from their PC over their home wireless network.

"Single-player gaming is our focus."
pseudonymous replied to intothedreaming's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)You forgot "achievements". It's all meaningless without "achievements". Without achievements you're just sitting in front of your computer pushing buttons. Where's the fun in that? It's called trolling.

Console commands / cheat codes, and why they are a lifesaving feature
So you would be against giving people a chance to work through a phobia and lead full, enriching lives? Pretty harsh, bro.
-
Console commands / cheat codes, and why they are a lifesaving feature
Wouldn't it be better for people to work through their problems by killing the little bastards giving them fits rather than cheating their way through it?

What do we know about children?
Nope, it's just an easy troll that get's some people's knickers in a twist. Remember, this is Obsidian, any child companion would have tons of emotionally engaging dialogue that would lead up to the character's death in a cut-scene and all of the resurrect scrolls in your inventory would be ignored because STORY.

What do we know about children?
They cry a lot and are expensive. They also go poo poo quite often. Gross. In some countries they are used as sex slaves. None of this matters as I am sure Obsidian wants to be able to sell the game and killable children tends to put a crimp in sales for some reason or other.

Should P:E have time limits?
pseudonymous replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)It can cause problems with certain databases and forum software, anything less than a technical problem is just people being people. On topic: Time limits aren't so bad in games. As long as they aren't like the time limits in Baldur's Gate. "Really Minsc? You're going to call me a coward and attack me even though we're on the same map as that mage you weren't good enough to keep safe?!? Screw you and your hamster too!"

If there are in-game books and other flavor stuff, will you read them or ignore them?
pseudonymous replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If the lore is done in the moronic way that Baldur's Gate did it, no. Who wants to spend time reading lore when your party is having it's ass handed to it by the nearest enemy because someone decided not to pause the game world when accessing the inventory? If accessing the inventory pauses the game world, sure.

About hate-mail and other online abuse.
I love these types of threads. You'd think that in 2013 people would have read enough of them to realize that they aren't effective in changing the tone of any discussion anywhere on the internet... but here we are.

How about free ice cream during a family fun day?

Chris Avellone on the KOTOR series
The UI redesign wasn't a waste of time. BioWare's UI sucked donkey balls, Obsidian's did not. It was a waste of time compared to what they could have been doing during that. Nope, Obsidian's UI made the game much easier to navigate, that is never a waste of time.

Prism Program ( Big Brother gone too far?)
Lol, and you subscribed to 200-year-old idea? Time is changing, the world is not the same since there's Internet and there are billions of humans today. There's not enough room for everybody if they all want to live like Americans. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_overpopulation) And you based your judgment on speculative fiction such as 1984? That's as reliable as basing your judgment from the Bible. The novel 1984 wasn't speculative fiction, it was Orwell's critique of Stalinism set in a fictitious England so his audience would relate to the characters. Not that the comparison is valid, no one is being black bagged, secretly tried, and brainwashed, they are just being monitored if they are talking to certain people outside of the United States. All of this came out in 2006 with the last leak. If you are really upset about it, stop whining and write your congress critter to get the law changed. But considering FISA has been around since 1978 and is effective at disrupting attacks, good luck with that.

Dragon Age did get at least one thing right though...
No, no, no, no, no, and no. I didn't give Obsidian money to play a remake of Knights of the Old Republic in a fantasy setting. Just no.
