  1. Hm. Y'all... played New Vegas, right?
  2. Boob plates do indeed suck. But... given the camera we're going to have, will we even see it?
  3. Even Rowsdower. Zap Rowsdower. gave $140, and that dude lives out of his truck.
  4. Humanoid enemies don't necessarily have to drop their armour, or even sometime their weapons. After three fireballs and two dozen swings of a warhammer, that armour probably wasn't in very good shape, y'know?
  5. I'm with the modron. BG's weapon-making thang was awesome. Finding ore deposits to make a sword or berries and flowers to make a potion is not.
  6. Of course it should go to the sword skill. Why should your magic skill benefit from you wielding a sword...? Collecting XP then distributing it however you want is dumb, overly simplistic, and unrealistic. As i've said in a previous thread, Bethesda haven't really implemented their skill systems well in their games (for a number of reasons), but they definitely have the right idea with skill progression actually being relevant and tied to the actions your character performs. this a bazillion times... I hate the notion that i kan kill a 100 kobolds with a dagger or staff and i can somehow "store away" that killing XP for my magic skills...how the hell does that make any sense? of course i'm only ok with growing cross class skills i use if there is no silly level cap that says "sorry chum, you seem to have maxed out you XP tank...too bad, maybe next time you will run away from those kobolds so you can kill them with magic like a good mage." Your argument goes at the window when you realize you can throw fireballs from your fingertips, tell me what is realistic about that. Its a game, I want to have control over how my character evolves, I know it *MIGHT* seem more realistic to have the game level up based on what you use, but it forces you down a particular path you do not want to go. Also, how do you level up skills that you do not use a lot like charisma? Speech? sneaking...etc. In skyrim, you had to do the horrible "grinding" of skills that you did not use just to level it up. like constantly sneaking, or throwing fireballs in the air, over, and over, and over again just to level it up. Autolevel was not created to make the game realistic, it was created for the dumb masses who do not play RPG's. Give me skill points to distribute how I want, do not make my choices for me. Urgh. There is realism as it pertains to our world, and realism as it pertains to internal consistency. Please don't try to use both kinds interchangeably. That said, although taking EXP from roasting 100 kobolds and pumping it in to swordplay is unrealistic in both senses, it becomes substantially less so if most EXP is earned from non-combat thangs. Quests, personal character growth. That stuff. And **** "improve thing by doing thing", yo.
  7. Everyone gets a Newfoundland or Nova Scotian accent. Everyone.
  8. Pure or race-based point buy. Random rolls? Really?
  9. Blood and guts? Sure, whatever. Exploding gibs? Only if I can turn it off. And since someone mentioned the DAO blood spatters: my favourite part of that was early on when Duncan knifes that one guy in the stomach during the Ostagar section. Blood bursts from him so violently that Duncan is not only covered in blood head to toe, but it's all over his back.
  10. First one: Good in theory, but beware! This typically results in "Whelp, I should be getting on with things, but I think I'd rather spend twelve hours in the pub here so I can talk to that one questgiver again." Second one: I'm not opposed, but you have to make sure it's clear to the player that time actually matters. Every other quest-giver says "You must hurry!", but if only one of them actually means it - lookin' at you, Paladin stronghold guy from BG2 - the player ain't gonna take it seriously. Third one: Things like random lightning strikes? Heeeeeeell naw. Something like, say, fire damage being lessened during a rainstorm? Sure.
  11. Poll 1: Voted "Mana", though I don't particularly care for it. Just... not vancian. Poll 2: Individual spells. C'mon, everyone voted for that. Poll 3: Voted "Other" because... well, whatever. Don't care.
  12. No, but I won't be heartbroken if they're there. EDIT: I should say, "I'm not heartbroken that they will be there."
  13. Inventory management is good if: it forces you to make difficult choices. Do I dump these spare shotgun shells for these healing herbs? Inventory management is pointless if: it forces you to drop vendor trash because you're full up. "Whelp, time to drop the items with the worst space:cost ratio."
  14. I had a lot of fun with it at times, and I thought it was lame as hell at others. And my mages were pretty ballin', if you're wondering. EDIT: Freezing: like I said, "Don't fall in love with something that isn't." That's all.
  15. So here I am. Eight and a half hours until I can boot up Borderlands 2, and an unknown but undoubtedly short number of minutes before I have to run off to the bathroom to heave over an open toilet for the fifth time today. Shivering in my two sweaters despite the pleasant temperature, I figure I might as well kill some time with this thread.
  16. You and I have been on vastly different adventures, comrade. EDIT: But srsly, there's some real "Twilight was bad, therefore A Farewell To Arms was, too" **** all up in here. Though I wasn't actually a big fan of A Farewell To Arms, save for a few scenes...
  17. This. I just can't say it better. D'accord. The man whose name mysteriously appears everywhere is absolutely correct.
  18. Or just... don't do that. I'd rather they don't do that. I say this as someone who considers himself a half-way competent actor.
  19. I really hope Obsidian sees this post. This is how I hope they will handle voice acting They've specifically said that they plan to use voice acting sparingly. "Punching up" major lines and what-not.
  20. Want some Styx water there, Merriman?
  21. Dragon Age had a lot of dwarves without beards, seen some in WoW as well, so it's starting to become a bit more common. Bearded female dwarves however is a bit more rare, unless there's a few games I've missed. The more varied all dwarves are the better, make them more like humans in terms of differences between individuals. Really? I only recall, like... two in Dragon Age. But regardless of that, beards are the stereotype. Except on women. That would be awesome.
  22. So... wouldn't you want no beards, then? Or at least, none on the males?
  23. I've a rather terrifying mental image of a "waterfall" actually made out of maidens now. Thanks.
