  1. The main thing for me is to be careful with where you're placing a companion. It's not a lot of fun if there's this great companion but they show up so late in the game you barely get to use them...
  2. Stamina is very explicitly not "action points", unless you're using some different definition of the term than I.
  3. The internet is a creepy, neckbearded place. That was actually one of the more pleasant Twitch chats I've ever seen, even with its share of stupid ****.
  4. To be fair, "PC and companions at zero stamina = game over" and "all enemies in a group have zero stamina = dead group" is a consistent application of the rules as we understand them...
  5. Well, I assume they made all this "we'll build this game taking into consideration your opinions" talk for a reason ? At a certain point, it's their thang. Design-by-committee is a terrible, terrible beast. If the community had its way, PE would be a roguelike with no combat and romanceable asexual half-dwarf half-plants in a dark-age steampunk Byzantium in the middle of England. The game is set in an era roughly analogous to our 15th or 16th century. Some technology is a bit worse, some is a bit better, but that's about where we're sitting.
  6. I haven't read that, got a link? I have no godly idea where I read or heard that. Dunno if it was on SA or formspring or this forum or a kickstarter comment or from a livestream or... ... it just sticks out in my head as being something confirmed.
  7. Definitely Torment. The same widescreen mod for BG2 also works with Torment.
  8. Hopefully. Pray God they learned that lesson from (the mostly awesome) Bloodlines and its god damn sewer crawl...
  9. Ugh. It takes 6-8 business days to connect a bank account to PayPal. With Amazon's raging hatred for handling my money, I'm a wee bit nervous about all this...
  10. Twitch always saves its ****. http://www.twitch.tv/obsidian/b/335806140
  11. For those unaware, they have confirmed that subraces will exist. And as far as complaints about sub-races being kinda lame go, I'd love to see a subrace inspired by Canada's Metis people...
  12. where did they say that it didnt? i make the logical assumption based on what i read so far but even if your sp is not limited by the loss of hp, still you DON'T get back the lost hp in any way other than resting, and since you lose hp every time you get hit, even if you have endless sp in the end your character will die. more sp and its regeneration could allow you to keep fighting until your last hp without getting knocked out but it wont prevent your death much like the armor in counter strike. it absorbs a part of the damage, but not all of it. you can have 80 armor left and be at 1hp Note that in that example, he starts with more stamina than HP. They have said nothing about tying max stamina to present HP. Regardless, yes, someone running around with 100 stamina and 1 HP is a harsh stare away from dying.
  13. The reason many of us do not grasp `enhance the whole gameĀ“ is because we know very little of what is actually planned to be included in the game. You say greater variety in animations, well how would you know how many animations are in the game to being with? More quests/NPC's we do not know how many we have for that either. Fact is, it is really ambiguous and their is absolutely no way to know what is going to be enhanced until we are told. Obsidian will no doubt use as much of the money as they can to improve the game, but it would be nice to get details. "Another level on the Endless Path" is also meaningless because we do not know what a level consists of. "New Faction" is meaningless because we have no idea what that entails. Same for "New Region". In contrast to those, "make everything that already exists better" is pretty much my dream goal.
  14. Attacks of opportunity alone don't necessarily do it. It's still generally easy to lose AI on corners and pillars and what-not. Attacks of opportunity do damage but fail to tie up, so the guy gets one hit and then you blow by him. You can even drag the enemy by your guys to provoke attacks of opportunity from them. I mean, I like attacks of opportunity as a concept, I just... I really hope they've got more than just that to keep the kiting down. So we basically have regenerating health, but only renamed and reflavored. Basically they try to sell us the same casual and dumbed down mechanic under new name. Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment didn't try to sell us dumbed down casual mechanics. Yes, they are right. I miss those games. For sure. What Nameless One did you play?
  15. I... what? That's not the system they've described at all. Your present HP does not determine your stamina cap. As far as I know. ****, I'm not the one who can't read now, right? Right?
  16. Beats me. But mine failed. I've tried repeatedly to get it go through, but no dice. To PayPal I go, I guess.
  17. I'm in the same boat as you, ogre, and I know of a few others. Can't imagine them locking you (us) out of the rewards.
  18. Kiting is abuseable as hell no matter what HP system you use. If they can slay that particular beast, they can replace the HP bar with a god damn granola bar for all I care.
  19. At long last, my swimming-environmental training-aqualung Deus Ex build will be of use!
  20. Oh, God. The memories. The memories! Tamerlane's Off-Topic Time: The "Mitchell" episode of MST3k. Saw it for the first time this summer. I was working up in northern Alberta planting trees. Hard god damn work. Rain, sun, snow, hail... through clouds of mosquitoes and black flies, never knowing when you're going to stick your hand in a wasp nest, carrying 30-50lbs of trees through swamps and up mountainsides, jamming your shovel into rocks. A few cents for every tree you planted. Painful god damn job; every part of your body hates you for it. It's damn near physically impossible to eat enough calories to sustain yourself in the long term. The middle and ring fingers on my right hand still claw up in the morning. Nights off wasted on drinking. Days off spent lounging about in the sun or hiding in tents from the rain. Playing boardgames or huddled around a powerbar with a half-working laptop playing Mystery Science Theater and The Mighty Boosh. We spent the rest of that damn season singing the "Mitchell" song the robots created to each-other. Scrambling around in grass over your head in 35 C heat (and God only knows the humidity), shirt completely saturated in sweat ten minutes in to the day... **** somehow becomes a bit more bearable when your water break gets interrupted by a coworker stumbling up to you singing, "Heart pounding/Veins clogging/Mitchell!" ... Also, yay for no resurrection magic.
  21. Well, look at it this way. Weakening healing magic, aye, but making giant-blade-of-ice-to-the-face magic a good deal more dangerous.
