Challenging lockpicking process
I'm on about the flawed logic of "Some people hate this, so it obviously has no reason to ever exist." What happens to be your opinion is also true, as an RPG can be made without lockpicking and it remains an RPG. Hell, you could make a game set in a world without the invention of locks. Do you know what's equally non-integral to an RPG? A lack of complexity in lock-picking. Half the people playing RPGs probably don't want to bother with a specific class, no matter how fun you make it. It obviously doesn't follow that we should only implement classes if more than 70% of the player populous wants to play them. Every class isn't integral to an RPG, and yet various ones get implemented in various games, and no one decides that their very existence has ruined the whole game while they play through without ever having to play a given class that they dislike. featurecreep.txt

Wizards with swords: Should wizards have melee capability?
More specifically, armour makes everything take longer to do. That's the basic tradeoff for survivability.

Wizards with swords: Should wizards have melee capability?
The Arcane Warrior specialization was arguably the most broken thing in the whole damn game.

"I think I'm gonna have to go on a KILL-ing spree"
Lines like the "ladder" one should be reserved for clicking on the same character a large number of times repeatedly. "Stop poking me, I am not an Orc!" and all that.

Inventory system
Tetris inventories with non-rotating items are Of Satan, Jodien. Personally, I really like what they've said about PE's inventory so far. I really hope that your in-the-field inventory is very small, though I'd be quite surprised if that wasn't the case. Now, for nostalgic inventories, nothing beats Ultima Underworld. I put the map inside the map case inside the bag inside the box inside the bigger bag inside the bigger box...

Small suggestions. Easily implemented ideas, quickfire thoughts.
Or just put them straight into your journal rather than the inventory. DAO did that, though they made the rather unfortunate mistake of making their codex god damn unnavigable.

Update #41: D&D: Dwarves and Doors
The faces in the OP? They look nothing like Jean-Luc Picard. I mean, like... what? I... what? Do all bald people look alike to you or something? I think Messier-31 is probably picking up on the similarities in the nose structures. But Patrick Stewart doesn't have as broad a jaw line and lacks the prominent brow ridges of the dwarf model. Hence they bare only a passing similarity, and I certainly don't understand why that is even a problem. Just a common troll, I expect. Listen, mate: JLP was just my first impression (not only mine for that matter, but don't ask me for a testimony, unless you are familiar with slavic languages), when I saw it, so it makes me a troll? It's not like I compared it to a Chevrolet Chevelle from 1965, or something. It would be unfair to the chevy (joke alert!). You guys can't stand when someone has a different opinion, or what? Now if you'll excuse me, I got some trollin' to do back in mah mossy cave. Cheers. Clearly you are just bald-people racist.

Update #41: D&D: Dwarves and Doors
I kinda doubt "smash open door" is going to be A Thing in PE. Same for "smash open chest". Lockpicking can pretty quickly become useless if your fighter can get through them simply by existing. And yeah, you can create mechanics to put greater emphasis on lockpicking (smashing chests destroys some contents, smashing doors draws more enemies, etc.) but those sorts of things are usually varying degrees of lame (Really? I broke a suit of armour busting a lock?) or irrelevant (Did you know that running through a door in the new Xcom is supposed to draw enemies? I wouldn't if I hadn't read it in an interview.).

Power of classes (Realism vs. Filling unlimited power)
I don't think they ever mentioned multiple EXP pools. Just that, when levelling up, non-combat skills will not compete with combat skills.

Mistakes to avoid -- lessons from Fallout 2
Wasn't... wasn't New Vegas their response to a lot of this? Especially the bits about armour making you a walking god and not knowing what an area is like when you start exploring it.

Dragon In Eternity ?
I'm not huge on dragons, but a giant angler fish-type creature would be pretty ****ing cool. Also, yes to werebears.

management of characters
Between this forum, Formspring, the Kickstarter updates (one of which is coming today!), and SA, I really could not tell you where I read that. Sorry. EDIT: Which means you shouldn't take it as gospel truth, because I am a stupidhead and I get things wrong a lot. But I'm pretty damn sure that was A Thing That Was Said, and ATTWS with great certainty.

My thoughts on project Eternity
Ah, but 'Tis not only I junior disciple. I am only the harbinger of the upcoming vexation. The time of vexation will soon be upon us. Heed my warnings! Forsake ye dastardly god and repent for your sins! Seriously? I believe BG2 is the best RPG ever created.(with P:T as a close second). It's kinda funny. Like, PST is my Favourite RPG Ever, but I could complain about pretty much every aspect of it. Same goes for VTMB or NieR or Ultima Underworld or any other Favourite RPG Ever of mine.

management of characters
It will be a mix of BG-style premade companions with unique dialogue and the IWD-style party. If you don't like the companions provided or you want a specific class combination they can't cover, you can just make your own. The party limit will be 5 companions plus your own character, and there is no multiclassing.

My response to "which game should PE be like" poll
Mask is regularly compared to Planescape Torment (in terms of writing and themes) or Throne of Bhaal (in that they are both epic-level campaigns). Of those two elements, don't expect to see the latter - Obsidian has said that PE will more likely feel something more like level 5-15 or so.

My thoughts on project Eternity
Obsidian, if you don't ignore this thread, I will nega-purchase a billion anti-copies of the game.
