The Weak & Unimagined Undead in Modern RPGs
I liked the vampires in bodhis hideout (bg2) because they weren't dead even when you defeated them in battle. You had to stake them to actually get rid of them. I think enemies which you can only partially defeat until you enter their sanctuary would probably work. Would ensure the player wasn't careless if zombies or skeletons could be reanimated due to the magic in a sacred space. Imagine the freakout if you see bones slowly moving back together and remending themselves into skeletons the longer you were in a location like that. Not one at a time but all of them at once. In the movie Dead Snow nazi zombies could reanimate and were relentless enemies.

The Weak & Unimagined Undead in Modern RPGs
I would like it if the ghosts, zombies etc provoked existential crisis in the players party. Certain soul conditions could provoke scares such as shattering or leaching of spirit. Contact with the undead could even change personality and induce visions and hallucinations. Lots of things game designers could do.

Obsidian's ideas for a new Kickstarter (3rd Part RPS interview)
Have to say I'm not keen on another skyrim like game. I mean haven't we heard this all before? "our new mmo is going to be better than wow!" "our new open world is going to be better than skyrim!" You don't beat the likes of wow or skyrim, all you can do is imitate like countless mmo's that have attempted to copy wow. It would be much better if they came up with an idea that the market isn't currently satisfying, that way they get first mover advantage. Did anyone know, apart from old-school pc gamers, that the infinity engine games were an untapped niche?

What's the ONE Thing You've Wanted In RPG's Over The Past Decade?
@Mor These are more wishes than expectations; but I think they would be neat. I agree with your reasoning about why they aren't generally implemented features. However I think a more simulationist approach should be apart of rpgs without question.

What's the ONE Thing You've Wanted In RPG's Over The Past Decade?
I want to be able to use spells and abilties creatively to change situations to my advantage rather than just conversation dialogue options driving the narrative. You could combine magics in interesting ways for unique gameplay possibilties; not just use magic in combat. For instance a telekinesis spell and a scrying spell combined could be used to push an object that is far away. Fire and ice can be combined to make metal brittle and break; maybe weakening someone's sword or prison bars etc. Perhaps I have a bluff skill and the scrying spell. I could use both to convince someone that something was true. Like showing only part of the picture to make something appear true.

Update #68: ART!
I would like to know the names of the areas that Twin Elms is split into; does it have a religious district? a market square? Seems like the perfect home city for druids and other nature loving folks and you just know there's some ancient city buried beneath waiting to be explored. BTW I agree with folks who think the forest screenies look like a park; certainly lacking a scattering of leaves or signs of any undergrowth. However, these images have yet to receive a paintover so I expect that will come. I think the drake skeleton should be scattered a bit. Consider the wings - the bones would be hollow like bird wings and would not stay as they were in life because they are so light as to allow the drake to fly.

GDC slides including new awesome screenshots
Does anyone know if the spell effects are placeholder or can we expect to see further improvement? Just thinking that the one thing I don't really like about the spell effects is the over-use of lens flare despite the glow being somewhat cool with it lighting up the environment etc Just don't want it to resemble a Michael Bay movie lol

GDC slides including new awesome screenshots
I hadn't seen the combat animations before; they look wicked cool! Especially the glow effects around the fire bolts and the magic shield thing. Also an overland map with four sigils interspersed in each corner; perhaps signifying houses like in game of thrones?

Save scumming
Shadowrun returns I have been told, will have a save anywhere system when the new Berlin content comes out January. Will apply to dead mans switch as well. HBS has let the backers know this first ahead of media which is a class act. As regards save scumming, sure discourage it but ultimately let players play the game the way they want to play it. I think civilization V and x-com discourages this by making sure that a roll for combat success is always succeed or fail so you can't just load back if you don't like the outcome. Although in civ's case I think that is a toggle you can switch off.
