A pair of staletto-healed-strappy-sandles. But for most everyday wear, I go with lower heals or with tenny-runners.

I've never played over team speak. I have been in some fun games via IRC though.

one of my fondest p-n-p memories is having found out that jem stones we had taken from a dungeon were jinxed. Sooooooo... the party goes into a tavern, and I look for someone that I think looks like a thief. I put on my most waifish look and holding the jems loosely in my cloak, slowly walk across a tavern past the guy .... and voila! the gems are mysteriously gone by the time I make it to the bar. The guy never saw it coming.

Will Obsidian ever make Handheld games?
Magena replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Obsidian General
I think if i get handhelds, other than my palm, then I will be more interested in finding out if Obsidian will make handheld games. For me though the screen is usually too small to do any kind of RPG games, so again I'm not that interested yet. -
The thing that I'm confused about is how the game will be played. There are two options... well three actually that I have participated in before. 1. using IRC and getting together at a chosen time to play. 2. start thread(s) so that we are playing in the thread here... this can make it more difficult for some as we would need to really map out what we are doing as opposed to just saying we are doing something. -- show vs. tell. 3. via email. The second can be well done, but there is a great chance of having people who aren't part of the game jump in on the thread and either spam or act as though they belong. I would love to get involved in a game... actually my husband was telling me a few days ago that he really needs to get me into a game. :D

When I was learning I had been told that C was a good start because it gave a good base, with C++ there are some shortcuts that can be used which are great, but programmers can get sloppy with them and well, then it isn't as helpful to know them. I would be amazed if in 10 years C++ is still the program that is primary, I'm sure that it will be something else entirely.

I can't tell enough about the math classes from what you have listed. I would suggest either talking to some of the more knowledgeable teachers and/or a councilor. -- I have found that the knowledgable teacher can often be a better choice. - also don't limit yourself to math teachers, talk to ones in the computer science area and find out what aspects of math they find the most helpful, and find a class that deals with that.

I was happy to hear that his ashes will be scattered in space. It seems such a great befitting of him. The original cast is getting smaller and smaller.

I have a question, someone take a look please...

If you are in school, there are a few places which sell software for students at considerable discounts. - some of the places might not even ask for proof. This is a great way to learn the stuff, and often the only downside is that it does put a watermark on your work so that it is obvious that it is from an educational version. Another option is Swift 3D. The program is about $100 and you can do many of the same basics as you can with 3dsMax. I have actually seem some really impressive stuff come out of Swift 3D. -
Just make sure that you keep up with the industry norm. That is a problem that happens to a lot of people, where they get comfortable with one thing and don't want to deal with something else until they have to. At that point, they are unemployeed and don't have the skills to get a new job against those just coming out of school. In most industries, C is pretty much a legacy thing, but learning the basics can be helpful as other languages are based on it.

My favorite color is Yellow... and I can't stand most tints and shades of purple or for that matter orange. My second favorite would be teal.

considering how long this has been off topic I'm sure it will be closed soon, but my two cents on the issue are that there has been medical research done that shows that there is a medical difference between people who are homesexual and those who are heterosexual. I'm sure there are some who take on the lifestyle not because they have the medical variation (good enough word) but because they want to do it... just like there there are some who are biologically alcoholics and those who really enjoy alcohol to the point where they keep that bottle near them as a lifestyle choice. I would much prefer people be happy in their relationships than for people to be spouse abusers because they are doing what their families and society feel is correct - and they can't stand whatever about the opposite sex. I knew a guy who would get physically sick when he was near a woman who was on the rag because the smell was that repulsive to him.

I thought about if I should go with this. I tend to get too much sun to be a Goth, but then again, I have been indoors an amazing amount during the day trying to kill myself with school, so I figured yeah... go for it. Goth Name: Bloody Angel Not bad... maybe I'll use it next time I need to come up with a user name.

school has been really stressful, so I've been lurking more than posting, but I'm still around - and still female, and waiting for games to come out. - back to pretending that I'm playing attention in class.

When I use to hit imperial beach, we would swim out past the breakers, and swim with the dolphins... sometimes we needed to check and make sure they were dolphins. I won't go to IB anymore though because it is sooooo trashed.

yep, that is what you get for going to the touristy beaches. -- granted, most of san diego's beaches are pretty dirty now a days. La Jolla Shores, Torry Pines and solana Beach I think are the cleanest... but the shores is wayyyyy too crowded during the day and much dirtier than 10 years ago. ... the comment about Blacks Beach, is that is it between the shores and torry... you have to either walk up or down from one of those two, or hike down the bluffs. the bluffs are dangerous though, and more than a few fatalities/serious injury have occurred from people taking that particular option. I like the beaches in laguna (farther north than san diego) but they seem dirtier than when I was in high school alsol

In this case, it is hard copy. I hadn't thought about having thumbnails as part of it, but that does make sense. luckily I think I know where most are. I need to have a portfolio together for a program that I am in (I present next friday) and still have no idea what I'm doing for this/that. so much stress. This is especially true, since some of the pieces that would go in are in the county fair right now (which opens next weekend)... so those items are missing.
-
I've noticed that some places request a portfolio when you apply, and for school, I need to be working on one. what I'm wondering though is what is the typical set up of a portfolio for the industry? or is there pretty much a "whatever you want" type of standard?
-
I had heard of mini games from the site... but I dont know if those are still being looked into or not.
-
Maybe a bit bigger, but I wouldn't want them much bigger. As it is the er... black space isn't bad, but when you take into account the people who are putting in images to their sigs also, that makes a lot of bring up every time.

It wasn't leaked, it was emailed to insider members. According to that, the big unveiling is TOMARROW to me this was leaked, as it was posted on the internet, and people who aren't in that inner circle have seen it by the tons. --- but we it shouldn't matter in the next 18 hours anyway. :D

You "forgot" to use the force? oh, come on....
Magena replied to Meshugger's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Am I the only one who read the CGW article and thought "PS:T"? not that they are going to be the same game, but that there are similarities. -
rofl... oh how I have thought of that for years. :D I just hope that we don't get mucho threads about the same exact thing. -- of course anyone new isn't going to have a clue about the questions which were asked before. I'm sure that we picked up more new people since the mag's hit the street.

don't know if anyone has noticed, but Lucas hasn't announced it yet either. Both of the magazines which have announced the game are JUNE issues. And there is always information "leaking" -- which seems to be as much of the industry as anything else. With a page from Lucas that was leaked to the internet today, I would expect an official announcement by the end of the week. the other strange thing to me is that the first website (that I know of) to make the announcement of what the game is, is a warez website. --- really makes you wonder.
-
probably. Though that page which we have read now, isn't suppose to be announced to the public.... at lesat that is my understanding of how these things work.
