I have an instructor that says 3ds is easier than Maya. - granted, I'm still trying to figure out the menu's, though I think I have them down, at least to an extent. Part of the reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking of purchasing an education version (much cheaper) and from what I can tell 3ds is being used more, but I wanted to make sure before I put more time and money into the programs. :D

I know on the old BIS boards, and on the Iply boards, there were more than a few times when the mods/admins would have to tell people to place others on their ignore list, because they would have such problems. Yes, I think that being able to block from PM is a great help, as there have been times when I've seen posters being perfectly civil in public, but are total jerks in private - to the point of being downright rude.

I was under the impression that it was multiple positions, but I think that might just be the way I read it, and probably wishful thinking on my part.

but are you willing to move just for a job? (or are you close enough that you wouldn't need to?)
-
I dont' know, and from talking to Missy, she doesn't know either. But she is trying to fix everything. - I just hope she has a good backup. :D
-
Poor Hades. yeah, its a bummer that Missy's is down, but strange things have been happening too...

^ I don't think you said it enough... you really need to work on that.

I can see this is the way you post, but I would suggest using a spell checker on your webpage, and using English punctuation for your artists statement. This might not be a big deal (the punctuation) if you already have some sort of an in into the company you are submitting to, but it can be detremental for companies you don't, as often it isn't just artists looking at your portfolio. The mis-spellings can be detremental to you no matter who is reviewing your portfolio.

...hehehe...sneaks up on us, eh, lad...dunna let these diaper-wearin' snot-noses git ya down...a bigger number jus' means we be battle-hardened... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... I knew that it must mean something... thanks for letting us know what. :D I like doing the QA part, though sometimes it gets rather boring... but it is still a good way to get your foot in the door, especially if you have skills which can transfer elsewhere.

The other night I found out that Everquest is done with Maya (at least someone that I know who works on that is using Maya), but I also keep seeing 3d Studio being reqested... and there is another program that I can't think of... so what programs are actually being used the most? and are they all being used pretty much across the market?

^ that takes you back to this forum, but I can see where it would be nice to be able to jump back farther with one mouse click. - or maybe a box at the bottom where you can jump to the various fora.

if they were out to get you, wouldn't you have a job?? The other thing I would say is if you are serious, then keep checking the jobs board, because I'm sure they will post there.

I'm not sure that it is a case of Obsidian being big enough or not, I think that currently they don't have a set QA staff because they aren't far enough in the projects to use them effectively. I hadn't thought of checking out the temp agencies.... good idea though.

The only reference I have to North Bay and East bay are in the SF/Oakland area.... but South bay always confused me, as we have one in San Diego, San Jose area is considered South Bay, and hunington Beach (or is it lower?) is also considered South Bay... so many places.

From everything that I know, or even think I know, I doubt that the van buren that we have come to think of as something great to play in the next year, won't happen, certainly not with Interplay in the whole senario. - Unless something is changing (which is possible), Interplay probably won't outsouce the game, and they seem to be much happier with only producing consoles for now -- so... as I said, I doubt that the game will happen.

Volourn - wouldn't it be easier for you to beg for a job from Bio?? how far are you from them (and yes, I realize that canada is a very long section of NA)
-
What part of your job do you find most satisfying??? and what part is most challenging?
-
What if Delaware project isn't Kotor2?
Magena replied to ramza's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
^ I second that. at this point I'm not nearly as interested in what the new game is (since it looks like it is console) as I am that it is done in a way that people are happy, and Obsidian can get more work... something that the rest of us can play. :D -
rofl. I would think that like other gaming companies, that Obsidian will send out emails. I'll admit though that even with companies like Bio and Sierra I tend to get a bunch of mail at once, and then nothing more months on end. - though I think I heard Volourn say that he gets quite a few mailings from Bio, so who knows, even with those big companies.
-
^^ agreed!! I can't wait until we find out what the game is... mostly because all the speculation is getting me antsy to play SOMETHING. -- I've even gone back to playing the original BG just for something to do. :D
-
I would hope that even if the rumors end up being false and most people get upset over it, that they will also be excited by whatever game ends up being announced. I really wouldn't want to see people ranting about how horrible a new game is going to be because it isn't what they expected in the first place.

I find this statement horrendously sexist. You would be equally offended if a male said that 90% of females are brainless, and if they didn't start off that way, the bigger the diamond the more brainless a woman gets. ah yes, but the wealthier she gets. :D the point of my comment was more that although someone thinks that 90% of any group is brainless, there are those who aren't, and there will always be something that makes them seem so. - and making general statements like that is bound to get someone upset because they feel they don't belong there, or that they can come up with numbers to state something different. talking about getting brainless, there has apparently been research done which shows that once someone gets their PhD, thier IQ drops.

s'ok, today there has been lots of people working hard to recreate those posts. B)

on the bright side, I haven't seen any good fights or trolls that ended up being deleted because of this little problem. :D

My understanding is that whereever the IP is, that they were suppose to be doing daily backups, but .... no one seems to know why that wasn't being done.
