  1. Aside from DRM and quicker patching, Steam has achievements.
  2. And just like that, Iowa State is out.
  3. It could be that they are simply in the process of building the framework to have the mass download functionality built in to their website and servers and this won't be ready and fully tested until Monday without crashing their system?
  4. I am not sure what you are referencing, but Chris didn't write the manual. All digital copies of the game will come with a digital copy of the manual. Hmmm...whoops. I must have misremembered the exact quote. http://www.rpgcodex.net/article.php?id=9733
  5. Yes they are. But each weapon type also has unique properties that differentiate it from others in the same damage class.
  6. College Hoops is not pretty basketball. Outside of Fred Hoiberg's Iowa State, or Rick Pitino's Louisville teams --most major programs are barely watchable. I'll take Hawks - Warriors all day. ... UC Davis knocked out by Stanford in the first round of the NIT. There goes that...
  7. Chris Avellone wrote the manual. So yes, there will be a manual.
  8. Moving from BG to PST took some initial adjustment for me as the presentation of narrative text was certainly different. When you sit down and really immerse yourself to this style, you'll get used to it and I imagine you'll appreciate the extra writing.
  9. This discussion may help: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/71117-what-will-be-your-first-player-character/
  10. It worked very well in Planescape: Torment and these descriptors provide nuance and tone that you otherwise wouldn't have from straight prose only --let alone from awkwardly animated cutscenes. Plus I like reading film screenplays, and it gives off nearly the same type of aesthetic.
  11. Obsidian on the ocean. Obsidian's children, their faces wet.
  12. Whereas the IE bard was fairly useless (especially in combat), the PoE chanter is one of the better classes, hands down.
  13. To reiterate, you can choose a digital download copy for either Steam or GOG. Your physical backer disc will be DRM free not tied to either Steam or GOG. However, retail discs will be tied to Steam.
  14. I Wow! That's super cool. And this is a reveal. We know from the very first gameplay demo that Calisca would be asking your character some background questions and that your answers would fill out your biography. But they never said anything about this process being ongoing until the end of the game. Yeah. That's a cool feature.
  15. That was a really good interview/write up! Yes please to a Tim Cain Turn based RPG.
  16. Why wouldn't they? If you are playing a game only with hired adventurers, why would they block you out of content? Other than story bits and such, I don't foresee any mechanical difference between companions and adventurers, because to do so would be to punish people for choosing their own preferences. Because the stronghold may be balanced for only 3 companion "agents" by midgame. If you can have 3 companions and up to 8 extra adventurers acting as agents, this could potentially cause exploit issues with the stronghold mechanic. Now if there is a cap, then this could work.
  17. My understanding was that these missions applied to idle companions. I didn't hear or read anything explicit whether this also applied to hired adventurers.
  18. Right. We know that idle companions can be sent on stronghold missions and guard duty, but how much of it, if at all...can be applied to adventurers? Maybe this should have been one of the questions asked for the Q/A thread.
  19. Just to be clear --there's a difference between hirelings and hired adventurers. Adventurers can join your party and hirelings are specific to the stronghold.
  20. I'm curious about this as well. Will hiring additional adventurers increase the efficacy of an optimally run stronghold?
  21. Perhaps Volume 2 will come out with PoE 2?
  22. LordCrash, You've said your piece, and restated again and again ad nauseum. We get it. You're pissed. Let's not beat the dead horse any longer. Look, Obsidian don't know jack about shipping and logistics. They have no experience with it, and likely no legitimate consultant for it. They are an independent video game studio composed of twenty and thirty year olds, a majority of whom have never worn a collared shirt in their professional life, let alone been inside a shipping and receiving warehouse. They made lots of mistakes with kickstarter and logistics. That's to be expected. They've probably made tons of mistakes in customer service as well. They don't have trained personnel in dealing with these type of issues. I feel bad for Brandon, Rose, and whoever else is doing the background work in getting kickstarter rewards out the door. They are human and I'm sure they feel bad at your disappointment. They have a lot on their plate that is out of their realm of expertise. When they made the pitches and came up with the rewards, I guarantee you they thought they could do all this not foreseeing the routine SNAFU's that are bound to happen. Why? Because they are video game developers who have absolutely no experience with manufacturing and shipping logistics. Brandon probably made the best mea culpa he can make, or knows how to do. They probably shouldn't have come up with some of the rewards they came up with. It would have all been a lot easier if everything was digital, or atleast narrowed the scope of physical rewards. Speaking of which, these are exactly what they are. Kickstarter rewards. Kickstarter is not a store. You agreed to back Obsidian with your hard-earned money to Obsidian not to purchase a Collector's Edition of Project Eternity, but instead to help fund a game in the classic infinity engine mold, and in return, you'll get a Collector's Edition reward. The spirit of Kickstarter is to help crowdfund these ideas and dreams into reality with the promise that you'll get something in return for your pledge. Yes, technically Obsidian is late on their promises. Yes, they made mistakes. But they are doing what they can to make the best of their situation. In the end you'll still get your reward, and you'll still get to play the game on release, and hopefully take pride in the fact that you helped make this dream into reality. tl;dr --Dude, step off. Obsidian is out of their depth in these matters and are doing what they can. You'll still get your rewards. Enjoy the game!
