  1. Chris Avellone wrote the manual. So yes, there will be a manual.
  2. Moving from BG to PST took some initial adjustment for me as the presentation of narrative text was certainly different. When you sit down and really immerse yourself to this style, you'll get used to it and I imagine you'll appreciate the extra writing.
  3. This discussion may help: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/71117-what-will-be-your-first-player-character/
  4. It worked very well in Planescape: Torment and these descriptors provide nuance and tone that you otherwise wouldn't have from straight prose only --let alone from awkwardly animated cutscenes. Plus I like reading film screenplays, and it gives off nearly the same type of aesthetic.
  5. Obsidian on the ocean. Obsidian's children, their faces wet.
  6. Whereas the IE bard was fairly useless (especially in combat), the PoE chanter is one of the better classes, hands down.
  7. To reiterate, you can choose a digital download copy for either Steam or GOG. Your physical backer disc will be DRM free not tied to either Steam or GOG. However, retail discs will be tied to Steam.
  8. I Wow! That's super cool. And this is a reveal. We know from the very first gameplay demo that Calisca would be asking your character some background questions and that your answers would fill out your biography. But they never said anything about this process being ongoing until the end of the game. Yeah. That's a cool feature.
  9. That was a really good interview/write up! Yes please to a Tim Cain Turn based RPG.
  10. Why wouldn't they? If you are playing a game only with hired adventurers, why would they block you out of content? Other than story bits and such, I don't foresee any mechanical difference between companions and adventurers, because to do so would be to punish people for choosing their own preferences. Because the stronghold may be balanced for only 3 companion "agents" by midgame. If you can have 3 companions and up to 8 extra adventurers acting as agents, this could potentially cause exploit issues with the stronghold mechanic. Now if there is a cap, then this could work.
  11. My understanding was that these missions applied to idle companions. I didn't hear or read anything explicit whether this also applied to hired adventurers.
  12. Right. We know that idle companions can be sent on stronghold missions and guard duty, but how much of it, if at all...can be applied to adventurers? Maybe this should have been one of the questions asked for the Q/A thread.
  13. Just to be clear --there's a difference between hirelings and hired adventurers. Adventurers can join your party and hirelings are specific to the stronghold.
  14. I'm curious about this as well. Will hiring additional adventurers increase the efficacy of an optimally run stronghold?
  15. Perhaps Volume 2 will come out with PoE 2?
  16. LordCrash, You've said your piece, and restated again and again ad nauseum. We get it. You're pissed. Let's not beat the dead horse any longer. Look, Obsidian don't know jack about shipping and logistics. They have no experience with it, and likely no legitimate consultant for it. They are an independent video game studio composed of twenty and thirty year olds, a majority of whom have never worn a collared shirt in their professional life, let alone been inside a shipping and receiving warehouse. They made lots of mistakes with kickstarter and logistics. That's to be expected. They've probably made tons of mistakes in customer service as well. They don't have trained personnel in dealing with these type of issues. I feel bad for Brandon, Rose, and whoever else is doing the background work in getting kickstarter rewards out the door. They are human and I'm sure they feel bad at your disappointment. They have a lot on their plate that is out of their realm of expertise. When they made the pitches and came up with the rewards, I guarantee you they thought they could do all this not foreseeing the routine SNAFU's that are bound to happen. Why? Because they are video game developers who have absolutely no experience with manufacturing and shipping logistics. Brandon probably made the best mea culpa he can make, or knows how to do. They probably shouldn't have come up with some of the rewards they came up with. It would have all been a lot easier if everything was digital, or atleast narrowed the scope of physical rewards. Speaking of which, these are exactly what they are. Kickstarter rewards. Kickstarter is not a store. You agreed to back Obsidian with your hard-earned money to Obsidian not to purchase a Collector's Edition of Project Eternity, but instead to help fund a game in the classic infinity engine mold, and in return, you'll get a Collector's Edition reward. The spirit of Kickstarter is to help crowdfund these ideas and dreams into reality with the promise that you'll get something in return for your pledge. Yes, technically Obsidian is late on their promises. Yes, they made mistakes. But they are doing what they can to make the best of their situation. In the end you'll still get your reward, and you'll still get to play the game on release, and hopefully take pride in the fact that you helped make this dream into reality. tl;dr --Dude, step off. Obsidian is out of their depth in these matters and are doing what they can. You'll still get your rewards. Enjoy the game!
  17. I feel like there is a game of chicken going on between Tartancyo and Luckmann. With Eldoth at stake.
  18. Nah. This is as good a place as any to gauge the fanaticism of the party base.
  19. They don't need to blame anyone. http://www.draftexpress.com/ They have their Tank Commander.
  20. I would absolutely back another PoE Kickstarter. Good news is, they already have a functioning engine and wouldn't have to start from scratch. That in itself would allow more of the funds raised on actual game content, as opposed to prototyping. There's also the bonus of not having to go through trial and error as much and a better understanding of the workflow pipeline for more efficient use of resources.
  21. I was about the post the same thing, the basic premise of the Black Hound is basically the same premise as Eternity.... so maybe we did get that story after all? Also that stained glass is very nice, great style to it and I have been really happy with similar small details you see in game like paintings and shields and such. They are all very nicely detailed. As for that backer..... seriously they dropped that much money then never responded? Insane. And if pillars of eternity does well, who knows, maybe Josh will decide to make another game with the same engine but with TBH scenario We'll probably be regaled of the tale of The Black Hound at the inn. Who knows, there may be some plot foreshadowing included as a bit of an allegory of sorts.
  22. ... Just some random thoughts. 1) it's not appropriate to be rumormongering 2) this isn't the gossip pages 3) what purpose does this serve? 4) so what if they don't (or do get along)? How is this an issue? It's normal human dynamic behavior. 5) you're probably looking too much into it anyway.
  23. This tells us some things about yourself actually. It's a good joke actually.
