One most certainly won't make back the atleast $500 ROI for gold level backers if the hope is to sell it off as profit.

I'd say I won my office Oscar pool. Why anyone would bet against Vegas is beyond me. Good thing no one else in my pool are degenerate gamblers like me and wouldn't know how to look up the odds.

Angry Joe LOVED Pillars Of Eternity
Leferd replied to kozzy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yeah. THIS. And...not anything else you've said on this thread. The fact of the matter is that when it comes to CRPGs, the broader the target audience, the more limited and watered down the RPG will be. And must be. Because average gamers don't like to read, don't like to focus on anything beyond the visual, don't like rule set complexity, and most importantly they won't be entertained by gameplay that is designed to be more of a cerebral experience than an adrenaline rush.We all want PoE to be as financially successful as possible. But there's a huge difference between wishing that the game does well, and wishing that it be designed to target the mainstream masses so that it sells a bajillion copies, like Mass Effect and Skyrim and other large-target-audience-RPGs.And this is precisely why I look at this Angry Joe Preview and rejoice. He might help this game sell well despite it not being targeted/designed towards his core viewership. Haha. Somehow, now I can't get this image of Angry Joe as the Anthony Kennedy of video game reviewers, for whom it's key to win over. -

Angry Joe LOVED Pillars Of Eternity

Angry Joe's reviews can regularly get over a million+ views and he has almost 2 million subscribers. His style is not similar to Totalbiscuit but they run in the same circles. Their pvp X-Com matches are pretty good. -
Angry Joe LOVED Pillars Of Eternity
Leferd replied to kozzy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yeah. Joe is not a console fanboy. He plays a ton of PC strategy games (turn based, grand, RTS) and has been bringing alot of awareness to indie projects. For all his over-the-top shenanigans, he still knows his business and is really fair and on point with both criticism and praise. *edit* From the video, the relevant PoE timestamps are from the 16th minute to the 20th minute. -

I would hope they are cursing backers for inducing a mass outbreak of non-productivity due to carpal tunnel from signing collector edition items. -

Kieran Yanner's art is cool. -
I'm really curious about this game. It's inspired by M.U.L.E. and its development is led by Soren Johnson, lead designer and programmer of Civ IV, the best in the series.

Cheatcodes for Project Eternity
Leferd replied to Eraydon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't know what's worst. Admitting to being a cheater or an achievement monger? Especially now that you have to choose since they are confirmed as being mutually exclusive. -
The map you are looking at is of the continent of which the Dyrwood, Readceras, and Eir Glanfath are located --which your protagonist has just arrived. It's roughly the size of Spain. Aedyr is across the Ocean towards the west and many of the colonists in Dyrwood and Readceras come from there. The Valian Republics, located south, are colonized from Old Valia, which is also across the ocean. The other regions are off the map.

Rome, especially the first season, was magnificent. Along with the Larry Sanders Show, it's my favorite HBO series. I like their attention to detail and love their matter of fact portrayal of slavery and different classes. The Battle of Alesia was a nice introduction to Roman military tactics from the Centurion POV.

Angry Joe's schtick is over the top and can be grating to some, but to his credit --he does his homework and he knows his stuff. In many ways, he wields his influence like a Roman Tribune of the Plebs.

I'm aware of what they have mentioned about dialogue options -- and I am still greedy and want as many as possible for my first go-round, ha. I know enough not to auto click them, but if if get a chance to -- as they say -- strike at an NPC's mental weak point, I want as many options as possible. Hence the super int/res/per character. As you say, if you want to min-max interactive options, that's your prerogative. But by doing so, it comes at the expense of the rich roleplaying element of the game --which the designers are focusing strongly on.
