I like cars. I did not really like my Element that much. It was okay, but not that much fun to drive. It had a bit more utility than I really needed, and my friends kept asking me to help them haul stuff enough that I had to make a frowny face. 3 years ago, I traded in my Element and bought this blue beauty: a MkVI Volkswagen R. I got the only options available: Navigation, Keyless Entry, upgraded Soundsystem, and Sunroof. I love it. It has a 256 horsepower 2.0 Turbo engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It uses a Haldex (front-biased) all-wheel drive system, but absolutely no torque steer is felt even under heavy driving. The brakes are from a MkV R32, with massive 4-piston calipers. Of course, it has a sport suspension and, as the pictures show, LED taillights. I am quite pleased.

Unless I'm mistaken, the GOG version won't have achievements right? So why not opt for that version? Out of sight, out of mind. -
Summary: How to determine the difference between Expert Mode and Non-Expert Mode. 1) Start a new game of the Pillars of Eternity Backer Beta. 2) The user will be taken to the game menu options. 3) Click on EXPERT MODE and complete character creation. 4) Begin the new game. 5) From the game menu, select Game options. The following will occur: All Non-Expert Mode options will be grayed out on the Game Options Screen. The user will then be able to observe specific changes from Expert Mode and Non-Expert mode.

So by the same argument, if turning a crap team into a playoff team (#8 seed at best) deserves an MVP award, how about turning a mediocre team (and possibly a borderline playoff team at best) into a great team (with historical implications: #1 Offense, #1 Defense, fastest pace, most assists since the Showtime Lakers, largest point differential since '96 Bulls)? With Stephen Curry off the floor, the Warriors are essentially a mediocre team (actually slightly negative +/- point differential). Doesn't leading a borderline playoff team into the league's most dominant deserve more MVP credence than turning a poor team into a borderline playoff team? Not to take anything away from Davis, Lebron, Harden, or Westbrook, but Curry is the clear choice. Davis and Westbrook won't win for the fact that leading a team to the 8 seed isn't going to cut it when there are clearly other deserving winners for contending teams also putting up very good stats. Lebron and Harden are solid choices. But their numbers aren't great enough nor are they more impactful than what Curry is doing with the Warriors. When a team is clearly the best in the league (and winning convincingly in terms of win totals and point differential) and their best player is putting up elite numbers --both in traditional and in advanced metrics, then Curry is the best choice.

Turning a bad team into a mediocre team doesn't make you an MVP. Being the best defensive player in an awful defensive team doesn't make you a legit Defensive Player of the Year candidate.

Good news for Westbrook. Allows him to pad himself some counting number stats! Speaking of which, I absolutely loathe PER. It's a deeply flawed metric that heavily skews towards well...counting statistics. Anthony Davis as MVP would be absurd. He's a top 5 player for sure (at age 22!!) but he's not impacting the game to the same degree as his stats would otherwise say. Ironically enough, he actually has more impact on the offensive end than on defense. If he's truly an elite defensive player, then why are the Pelicans only 23rd in the league in Defensive Efficiency? Why are they 22nd in FG% Defense? If he's a monster on the boards, why are the Pelicans only 13th in Defensive Rebound %?

Eric Fenstermaker (Lead Writer) on dialogue mechanics. Totally valid concern. A few things to know about this: - Paying close attention is important sometimes, but for a lot of our "optimal"-feeling options, a skill check will also be involved. So good for you figuring out that some character is susceptible to flattery, but if your Resolve is too low, you won't be able to flatter in a way that doesn't seem hollow. - It's often not the kind of logic that would require a high perception - just common sense in many cases. If you take the Perception option to tell the currier that no woman would ever lay with someone who smells as bad as he does, yeah he probably won't be as forthcoming with you. So maybe you want to think twice about choosing it in the first place even though it says [Perception] in front of it. Looking for some level of thought, not necessarily brilliant levels of deduction. Anything that requires a brilliant deduction will generally be gated behind an appropriate skill check. - I would urge any player to really roleplay his or her character. It's not something I can enforce on my end so much as encourage, but I would want players to choose options based on how they think and what they would say. There are a number of other systems choices we've made here (personality rep and background come to mind, as well as our companion interactions) to try to help the player to develop a character over the course of the story rather than to just play some empty, static avatar. Hopefully it gives a little more meaning to the overall experience. - I have to be careful with my use of "optimal" in reference to quest outcomes. What I generally mean is an outcome that avoids conflict, not necessarily the outcome with the most favorable end result. The idea being, if you're going to skip a fight, we want it to feel like it's a reward for both player and character ingenuity. Otherwise you've just missed out on gameplay. (Which I'll grant you some people prefer.) All that said, if you find that some interaction really forces you to metagame to get the option you want, and requires you to act out-of-character, that's a serious narrative issue, so go ahead and report that as a bug.
