  1. Tempted to but then I'd need to drive 5 hours down I-5
  2. Just water. I hate getting my hands greasy/sticky and having them get all over my precious IBM Model M keyboard.
  3. Obsidian hasn't posted anything in the comments section over there in 2 1/2 years. They are provided a link after every update with the explicit invitation to comment on the official forums. If they really care, they should you know...maybe do the sensibly proactive thing and gripe where they are invited to gripe? Otherwise they can just continue to air it out endlessly over there. Which is probably what they want to do, or else they'd be all sensible-like, no? But whatever...makes for less clutter over here.
  4. Totally valid concern. A few things to know about this: - Paying close attention is important sometimes, but for a lot of our "optimal"-feeling options, a skill check will also be involved. So good for you figuring out that some character is susceptible to flattery, but if your Resolve is too low, you won't be able to flatter in a way that doesn't seem hollow. - It's often not the kind of logic that would require a high perception - just common sense in many cases. If you take the Perception option to tell the currier that no woman would ever lay with someone who smells as bad as he does, yeah he probably won't be as forthcoming with you. So maybe you want to think twice about choosing it in the first place even though it says [Perception] in front of it. Looking for some level of thought, not necessarily brilliant levels of deduction. Anything that requires a brilliant deduction will generally be gated behind an appropriate skill check. - I would urge any player to really roleplay his or her character. It's not something I can enforce on my end so much as encourage, but I would want players to choose options based on how they think and what they would say. There are a number of other systems choices we've made here (personality rep and background come to mind, as well as our companion interactions) to try to help the player to develop a character over the course of the story rather than to just play some empty, static avatar. Hopefully it gives a little more meaning to the overall experience. - I have to be careful with my use of "optimal" in reference to quest outcomes. What I generally mean is an outcome that avoids conflict, not necessarily the outcome with the most favorable end result. The idea being, if you're going to skip a fight, we want it to feel like it's a reward for both player and character ingenuity. Otherwise you've just missed out on gameplay. (Which I'll grant you some people prefer.) All that said, if you find that some interaction really forces you to metagame to get the option you want, and requires you to act out-of-character, that's a serious narrative issue, so go ahead and report that as a bug.
  5. And the thing is, the complainers are thinking that they are speaking for the community and that Obsidian should give US more special treatment. I don't see any long time posters or regulars making the same claims.
  6. Pretty much all Kickstarter updates provide links to this forum for the specific purpose of discussing said updates, and the game itself. If they can't be bothered to take the explicit hint....
  7. Not quite. Companions can and will interject at times.
  8. The FB invite reads like an open invitation to me.
  9. The hints are that all three will not be renewed by the BBC. I can almost guarantee that there will be a lucrative bidding war for all three should they decide to create a new program.
  10. May as well party it up. The game won't go live until 09:00 PST Thursday morning.
  11. Obviously I'm framing it to my own interpretations: 1) Why do reviewers and streamers get to play before backers? Obsidian doesn't care about us. 2) Why can steam preorder customers preload before backers? Obsidian doesn't respect us and so therefore I will badmouth Obsidian to everyone. 3) Physical goods and update 89-91. Why does Obsidian hate the international community? 4) We are badmouthing Obsidian. Why can't they bother to communicate with us and answer my loaded questions? Why, Why Why??
  12. He definitely plays up his homophobic misogynist act and is a certifiable ass, but he is entertaining and I like Top Gear.
  13. Pillars of Eternity rewrites the rules... http://www.polygon.com/2015/3/25/8284763/how-pillars-of-eternity-rewrites-the-rules-for-role-playing
  14. Hi Curunwe, please try again. Is it still not visible? Mine is now back!
  15. Man. All this fuss and now we have to wait for 33 hours?? Obsidian should have just released the keys the day of.
  16. Sup.
  17. I read the PoE General Discussion forums throughout the day. Good entertainment if you like internet drama.
  18. The "PLUS" stuff is tied to your Obsidian backer portal account and is separate from the individual Hero Edition keys that you can generate.
  19. Brandon, don't think that all your and the team's long and hard hours don't go unnoticed or unappreciated trying to get everything done by the deadline. Thank you.
  20. That's certainly one way to interpret it, I guess. And while I agree with the complaints that there could have been better communication by times, I certainly don't agree with your interpretation of Obsidian's actions. So I guess you'll be moving on and not bothering with Obsidian or their forums anymore, then? Depends on the game I bought it may as well play it - the forums are a good place to provide feedback. That said Obsidian are on my be cautious list. EA and Ubisoft are on my don't buy list until they remove mandatory 3rd party programs (Uplay and Origin) If I buy it on Steam that should be the only step I should need for playing the game no secondary sign in needed. Obsidian are great guys and ok Devs but they really need to step up to the plate and start showing fans they appreciate them more. Because they really aren't - yes their games are often outstanding but you only get free passes for so long before people stop caring about you. Happened to Peter Molyneux really easily and American Mcgee and countless other devs - the truth is if people like me and the others expressing dismay at treatment didn't care we'd just slink away and stop buying their products. The fact we're here telling Obsidian they're doing it wrong (treatment of backers) shows they still matter to us, and if we matter to them they'll listen. Dude, speak for yourself. I don't know you. But you are not coming across very well here and If you notice --none of the longtime regulars from this forum have complained. And don't think that the crowd here white knights or give Obsidian free passes. We are as tough or as merciless as anyone when it comes to criticizing Obsidian...when warranted. Of all the various developer forums I've been part of or have been posting in, Obsidian is by far the best when it comes to rigorous debate and back and forth developer feedback. In no way have I or many of the regulars have complained about feeling being snubbed by Obsidian.
  21. For posterity, because these questions will keep coming up:
  22. The key will be made available at the backer site with your choice of GOG or Steam. All physical backers will receive a digital download key. https://eternity.obsidian.net
  23. any idea on the size of that one? Nope. But from what I understand, it's not insignificant.
  24. Anthony's streams are really good. Plus he's got the insider knowledge.
