  1. There's five in a trilogy, silly.
  2. Does he count? (look at the very bottom of the linked page)
  3. Great series, endingS and all. ...well, suffice to say, that despite all the comlaints about the ending for TSL, nothing can match those of Neon Genesis: Evengelion.
  4. Whether or not SW books meet your standards of high literature is moot. Ostkant only asked for some SW book recommendations. Look, no one is going to compare the literary quality SW EU to Asimov, Heinlein, Ellison, or PK D(sensored)K. Just accept SW for what it is --Pure escapist light reading. Strictly on its own merit as just that, some of the EU stuff is good fun. ...the rest not so much. Actually, most of it is crap. *edit* I can't believe I actually almost defended the quality of Star Wars novels...
  5. I can't comment on the quality of the star wars books but I did find these books/comics to be enjoyable enough. And that's the important thing. The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn Heir to the Empire Dark Force Rising The Last Command Tales of the Jedi by Tom Veitch/Chris Gosset/Kevin J. Anderson Knights of the Old Republic Dark Lords of the Sith The Sith War Redemption Dark Empire By Veitch and Cam Kennedy I would start with these.
  6. Not to be anal but to quote myself: "Here's a SCENARIO for you: Bioware ENTERS the publishing field with Dragon Age." I'm not saying it's likely, but it is possible. Stranger things have happened.
  7. Here's a scenario for you: Bioware enters the publishing field with Dragon Age. Obsidian comes up with their own IP. Bioware publishes Obsidian's IP.
  8. Wouldn't be prudent. We were supposed to be discussing whether Bio should have made K2.
  9. I call that dark humor. You bring up specific examples. That's good, but also misleading. As anyone who's taken stats 101 would know, there are always outliers. There are always instances are exceptions. When you look at the big picture, BIS games tend to be darker and aimed at a more mature audience than Bio games.
  10. Yes. And I'm a Bio fanboy. You're just wrong.
  11. It's also a matter of style. I'm generalizing here but Bioware and Obsidian/Black Isle have different design philosophies. Bioware tries to make their rpgs as appealing to the general gamer as possible. They tend to take the safer route by having clearly definable good/evil choices and play around with themes and story plots that are mora palatable to younger gamers. They place a heavy emphasis on humor and on simpler roleplaying choices. They follow a formula that works and sells games. Black Isle/Obsidian rpgs tend to be darker and more mature. Their games are more morally ambigious and require greater player introspective to fully enjoy. They tend to experiment more with their story structure. Bioware has more and a greater variety of fan types than Black Isle/Obsidian, but those that are loyal to BIS/Obs tend to be more rabid because they see themselves as more sophisticated than Bio fans. I like both (all 3?) companies and their games in anear equal manner. To answer the question, NO. I like diversity. If Bio made K@, they would have mada K2 more of the same. If you want to see A KoTOR sequel by Bioware, play the Baldur's Gate or NWN series. The story design for those games are similiar in structure to KoTOR.
  12. I loved the concept of Rebellion despite its poor execution. If they can combine Rebellion with Total War, that would make a pretty sweet game. More Rebellion and Total War, less Galactic Battlegrounds and C&C.
  13. Well, you just missed the single best one. Get it NOW. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed.
  14. You do realize that "kotor" in the Malay and Indonesian languages means dirty.
  15. My favorite games list includes side scrollers on the Nintendo, EA sports titles on the Sega Genesis, and PC rpgs. I guess that makes me a true gamer. But the only games I follow the development on are rpgs. I'm only speaking for myself and not on gamers in general. Though I suspect most will play muliple genres.
  16. Then again, the codex has a venomous editorial bias against rpgs not headed by Tim Cain. Especially those that are connected with Bioware. Well, atleast that's how I see them frame their news flashes. I'm probably wrong.
  17. Baldur's Gate. I was expecting a Diablo clone.
  18. Impression from initial playthrough: BG> BG2> FO> FO2 Opinion from hindsight: BG2> FO> BG> FO2
  19. addendum. So that Hades wouldn't call them out on messing with D20 core rules.
  20. So they wouldn't have to deal with WOTC. So that they can create their own RPG universe. So that royalties wouldn't cut into their profit margin. So that they can have more say in publishing decisions. Plus plenty more reasons.
  21. In either case, Bioware wins.
  22. The Fallouts oozed with better atmosphere and style, but the BG's were superior in gameplay and fun.
  23. TSL's soundtrack uses an orchestra but I still prefer KotOR.
  24. Tony LaRussa Baseball 95: A baseball game w/o sortable team/player stats. NWN: Uninteresting OC and clumsy radial menu system Ryne Sandberg Plays Bases Loaded 3: Removed season play feature. No Ryne Sandberg. WTF?? None of these were flat out horrible games, but they were quite dissapointing.
