Most of us fanboys and groupies here who joined pre-release are fans of the developers and not of the SW or NWN franchises. Although there is quite a bit of an overlap.

I would play BG2 or IWD before getting into PST. PST is a love it or hate it deal in the sense that not everybody is going to like it. But those that enjoy it tend to be more passionate in their love for it.

Can anybody link to the evidence that Obsidian made a content request? I've seen folks talking about it as though it's really happened, but I haven't seen any dev posts, letters, nothing. And I think it's cute as the dickens that we're debating what price we'd pay for the finished game. If any LucasArts marketing droid ever reads this board, they'll have a good laugh at us. Of the TOTJ's, Redemption is certainly the best in terms of plotting, character building, pace, and utilization of thematic elements. I really liked the story. Its artwork is the best from any Star Wars comic I have seen. It's quite unfortunate that it was the last of the TOTJ's. Easily the only thing written by KJA that I didn't think of as tripe or barely passable. If it came first, the quality of the rest of the series would have had to match it.

Now this doesn't necessarily address the issues with regards to your technical problems, but it does give you a clearer picture of who to contact with regards to complaints about said technical issues. p.s. Great series, endingS and all. ...well, suffice to say, that despite all the comlaints about the ending for TSL, nothing can match those of Neon Genesis: Evengelion.

Whether or not SW books meet your standards of high literature is moot. Ostkant only asked for some SW book recommendations. Look, no one is going to compare the literary quality SW EU to Asimov, Heinlein, Ellison, or PK D(sensored)K. Just accept SW for what it is --Pure escapist light reading. Strictly on its own merit as just that, some of the EU stuff is good fun. ...the rest not so much. Actually, most of it is crap. *edit* I can't believe I actually almost defended the quality of Star Wars novels...

I can't comment on the quality of the star wars books but I did find these books/comics to be enjoyable enough. And that's the important thing. The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn Heir to the Empire Dark Force Rising The Last Command Tales of the Jedi by Tom Veitch/Chris Gosset/Kevin J. Anderson Knights of the Old Republic Dark Lords of the Sith The Sith War Redemption Dark Empire By Veitch and Cam Kennedy I would start with these.
