  1. This isn't a knock on the series, bit TSL is every bit as easy as KotOR. It's a fun and entertaining game. But not terribly challenging. Not the combat anyway.
  2. Well...considering that Epstein was choice #4 for John Henry. Behind Billy, JP Ricciardi, and Paul Depodesta. (hmmm...all Oakland guys....)
  3. From what I gather, the big three are all well liked by management, fans, and players alike. Beane sees success in cycles and that he's seeing the tail end of this particular success cycle. Rather than delay the inevitable decline for another year, he made a pre-emptive move to strengthen his future pitching staff. But it's still a very competetive ball club. He turned last season's weakness (bullpen) into a strength. The offense looks better on paper. He is taking a gamble on the rotation, but it is a good gamble. The odds are stacked in his favor for success. It's a young and unproven staff, but they do have the minor league numbers and short big league success that says that these guys are for real. Also, Beane has faith in his farm system. He is an excellent evaluator of talent and believes in the training regimen employed by the A's farm system. Plus they have the track record to back it up. But it would be hard for them to catch up with Anaheim in 05.
  4. That would be Morrowind with guns... Ehh, wait, they are already doing that one. It's called Fallout 3 " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hope its not morrowind w/ guns, it'd be as bad as morrowind was and thats pretty bad, <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't you mean Morrowind with laserswords?
  5. How often do you have to save? How often do you recommend saving, based on the instability issues a lot of people are facing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Speaking for myself, my saving habits were the same for this game as any other crpg. I experienced some bugs, but nothing major.
  6. Hmmm. It really happened. "It's crazy, isn't it? But I think from all our past experience with Billy, I have undying faith in his ability to do what's best, This game is a business and we're reminded of that more than ever. I'm still here at this point and I'm excited for next spring. It's kind of comical at this point (trading two top starters), but I guess the guys we picked up are kind of like the Big Three all over again.'' -Barry' Zito's spin.
  7. Certainly the most bizarre trade Beane has made since John Mabry - Jeremy Giambi. Meanwhile...I'll just chalk this one up to fatigue and when I wake up tomorrow morning, I'll laugh this off. I MUST be going through some weird dream. Meanwhile, while I'm consumed within my wierd dreamlike trance, I'll rationalize this trade by telling myself that they're trying to get younger, cheaper, and more flexible while still fielding a quality product. Afterall, their W-L record has been going down for the last three years, and they failed to make the playoff for the first time in years. But nah...it don't matter. I'm still dreaming. Of the big three, I would have expected Zito to be the first one gone. And certainly not BOTH Hudson AND Mulder. Definitely dreaming.
  8. You can certainly gain more points by utilizing your skills. But I don't know just how much more of a points advantage it is. But I would have to say that the Sentinel class is more adaptive than any other class and that skills are much more useful in TSL than in KotOR.
  9. We've heard talk of how some gamers have problems with the TSL. We've heard talk of how some absolutely love it. Well, let us see what the board consensus is. Here are the rules: 1) YOU CAN ONLY VOTE IF YOU HAVE BEATEN THE GAME. 2) YOU CAN ONLY VOTE ONCE. Hopefully, most everyone is honest and won't use alt handles to vote. Hopefully most everyone is honest and only voted if they have finished the game. With a larger sample, this poll will more accurately show what people who love discussing TSL and other crpgs think of it. Vote away and keep the comments to a minimum. This is NOT a debate topic.
  10. I'd imagine bugs to be more present in games that are developed by companies that have yet to establish an internal QA department.
  11. From what I understand, I believe Bioware now has a team dedicated for building next generation engines for that very purpose.
  12. Unlikely. They would still be working on Dragon Age and another unnannounced internal IP project.
  13. To hell with my companions, I want to be challenged. Atleast die once or twice during the 40-50 hour adventure. - dr cloak <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okie doke. Although I do have to say...KotOR was never really a game that was designed to be hard.
  14. And why Bioware didn't let Obsidian use this new engine in KOTOR 2? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because it's not done yet. And it's a real time engine.
  15. Might want to add a spoiler black out to that.
  16. Don't worry about the ending Ender.
  17. and your example, if what we are told is correct is correct, fails, as the slip to the DS isn't subtle. It's non-existant. The PNPCs don't change personality or preferences (they still want the muggers to just be chased off after they master the DS). Maybe thats been reported wrong (I hope), I havn't played the game, but thats how it was describe by numerous people. It just basically deals with thier force powers ,a few scenes where their alignment comes into play as checks, and what NPC quest you can get at. That is incorrect. I don't want to reveal any spoilers but there is atleast one character who made significant headway in changing alignment, personality, and preferences due to my influence. And it wasn't because I went out of character to be this character's yes man.
  18. I'm going through it a 2nd time, as a Sentinel, with having nobody in my group unless I'm forced to, with the setting on Difficult, and its still easy. I don't know why I bother. Yes, why do you bother? The reason why I would replay the game is so I can learn more about my companions.
  19. Press the white button to pause. Press the X button instead of the A button to que up your action. It was explained in the tutorial and in the manual.
  20. "32 hours... As you can see I haven't been playing nonstop like most of you. I live with 2 major halo 2'ers so I split time. I played M DS Guardian/Maradeur and I have a couple of questions. First of all can anybody give me an insight on just what happened? What happens to the ebon hawk and my teamates? I'm assuming nobody really nows but I can hope otherwise. Second, I never got a chance to train a Jedi, I'm assuming I never had enough influence on anyone. The only character I really had alot of influence on was Visas and she is already Jedi." 32 hours for the first play through seems very short. That would explain not training any jedi. There are several discussions going on in in the storyline and spoiler forums with regards to "what happened".
  21. This sounds trite but KotOR was Star Wars and TSL was the ESB. I like them both for different reasons and it is a matter of taste as to which you would prefer.
  22. Try the Entertainment module.
  23. "Oh shut up, this is the spoiler forum, ITS ALL ALLOWED!" http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=26225 "When titling threads, please do not include the spoiler itself. The titles can be seen from outside this thread. The topic description however can't be seen, but again I would ask that people not place the spoiler info in there as there are people who will come here for specific items, and don't want to be spoiled for the other areas."
  24. More closure? More explanations? What more do you want? You get told explicitly what happens to every character and to every planet that you visited.
