    that's what you play Fallout for? personal investment of your character? I always considered my character's personal motives irrelevant talk about different ways to enjoying playing open-world RPGs

    I'm just noticing, that I like realistic stuff more and more. the best looking sci-fi game in my opinion is Titanfall. it's just amazing what they were able to do with Source. and their visual designers are awesome.

    man, Warframe has the worst-looking characters ever... I could never get into it for two reason, character models being one of them

    so, this let's player is traveling with a BoS paladin. they come across a synth fighting a BoS vertibird. the player can't get involved because he is allied with both factions. the vertibird finally goes down. the paladin companion fails to acknowledge that. the player approaches the wreckage and begins looting the bodies. "Good work. Don't leave anything behind", says the paladin. I don't know if I should laugh or cry...

    I saw the part about Lorenzo Cabot today. the whole quest line about the ancient artifact... man, I think someone at Bethesda wanted to sneak in a few quests from Skyrim, and this is one of them. so out of place... the Fallout universe is getting stupider with each new Bethesda release

    considering the fact that the original BG was the first IE game, and, therefore, the most boring and bland one (Bioware was still learning the toolset, after all), I am always surprised to see people place it so high up. BG is undoubtedly the worst IE game. hell, it's probably worse than ToEE (though, that's subjective). but better than IWD 2? no way. I do agree, that IWD is a better game overall, but still IWD 2 holds up well. and I wouldn't even consider PST in the same league as these games. it's more of a CYOA type of game, while other IE games are dungeon crawlers with various degrees of freedom.

    That's the point, Extra Credits is trying to give people a superficial starting point from which they can start researching a topic - my biggest beef with their videos is that they don't provide a list of sources in spite of those being fairly easy to find. I'm derailing tho. they lost all credibility with me when they panned New Vegas and praised Fallout 3 for "world building" or something...

    just saw a vertibird operated by a bunch of mercs (Gunners). apparently, there are so many vertibirds in the East, and so much fuel for them, anyone can get one

    personally, I didn't notice any of that in Fallout 4, but I am only watching a Let's Play, not playing myself, so it could be better than it looks. BUT, other people (most of them) do say, that Fallout 4 has: great atmosphere, great gunplay, great companions, and great customization (character and settlement). the story is ridiculous, of course, but I never played STALKER for the story, never paid any attention to it in SoC, for example. the weapons are as realistic in FO4 as they are in Borderlands (meaning, they look like they're made out of random parts and have additional effects like fire, poison, cold etc.). as for inventory management - it's the terrible FO3 PipBoy inventory...

    watched Sicario the other day. I was going in expecting a story about a strong female character fighting the good fight, but it turns out the main character is Benicio Del Toro's tragic hero Alejandro. I'll have to watch it again to make sure, but my first impression is very good. it looks like a great movie (better than Prisoners, dare I say?). just don't let its ratings on IMDB and Metacritic fool you, this movie is a bit more subtle

    someone pointed out to me today, that Fallout 4 would've been better off named STALKER 2, because it has a lot more in common with the STALKER games, game mechanics wise
