  1. My uncle used to buy jars of pickled pigs feet. Big jars. He ate them as they were, or on crackers with mustards and olives and other such toppings, including smelly cheeses.
  2. I let my rice cool just a bit then saute it in a bit of olive oil with chopped up veggies (whatever strikes your fancy) and a dash or two of soy sauce. I like it a bit browned. Super good. I've even taken the leftovers the next morning and added eggs to it, scrambling it all together. In California, we call that fried rice. Yeah it's kind of like fried rice but the veggies aren't cooked all the way through and the rice, being already cooked, only gets a little browned. I like it better than the more traditional fried rice. My boyfriend adds sriracha to his.

  4. Thanks. And here I was afraid of being categorized as some kind of stereotypical doomsday prepper nut. (Which I'm not) If you need any help with your survival backpack just ask me, I'm happy to help. One thing I highly recommend, -I would even call it the single most important item in my backpack- is this survival book: I have one copy of it in my backpack and it contains survival techniques in all kinds of terrains and situations, first aid skills, how to hunt, skin animals and prepare meat, the dangers of parasites, psychology in dangerous situations, ...its an extremely comprehensive survival book. Even when you are not THAT interested in that kind of subject its still a great read because of the sheer amount useful information in it. I don't know what exactly is wrong with your physical condition, but it almost never hurts to do some exercise to improve yourself, especially a screwed up back can be greatly improved with some resistance training. Why is that? Doesn't your government store food for at least one month in case of a breakdown? Mine does. (- In theory, I have no faith in my government when it comes to dealing with extreme situations) Here I am looking at your reply with the picture of the survival guide when one of our roommates walks on by and says Hey I got that book! So, here I have that guide right in front of me as I type. How weird is that!!! I feel like I'm in Harry Potter or something. Anyway, bless your heart Woldan for your response. One thing for sure I'm putting in my pack is my multi-tool. Like from Survivor man. I'll need that.
  5. You could always shove it all in your wheeled luggage. Just include an inflatable raft ... never know when you'd need it.
  6. Oh there we go, lol. Soak your dried food in the whiskey?
  7. Going to see this next week. I was rather disappointed in who was chosen to play Jace. But I'll wait and see how it plays out. I saw it, never read the books. It was okay but could have been better. Edit: Also re-watched THE INCREDIBLES - lovely fun superhero film FORBIDDEN PLANET - best sci-fi film of the 50s, IMO. I really don't expect it to be all that good, just hoping it'll be fun ... and hopefully resemble the books a little. I remember being vastly disappointed in 'Twilight'. Bleh...
  8. This is a good idea. We've considered creating one as well. Personally, I'm not exactly sure what to put in one. All we've ever done was a bit of camping at campgrounds. Nothing much to learn from that. The only hikes we ever do are the ones you get through in one day, then come home and sleep in comfy beds.

  10. Update for anyone considering reading this book.... Don't read it! It sucks big time. How something with such a promise to be a unique read can turn into some stupid love triangle bunch of crud is amazing. Two thirds of the way in and I don't know if I'll even bother to finish it.
  11. ...hehehe...fergot all 'bout that!!...damn, I remebers hittin' Josh wit' 4 or 5 consecutive PMs so he's'd change me name back ta Sargallath Abraxium cuz noone'd remember who Jason Oliver was...hehehe... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... Although I like your real name just fine you'll always be Sargy to some of us. It's funny how we associate people we meet online with their user names, even when we know the real name. Like with Amentep. When I first got together with Ace (ApocolypseCow) from BIS it took a bit of readjustment to think of him with his real name.
  12. Oh and you are! I love you.... GM is just my initials. Used it since the good ol' Black Isle days when I couldn't think of anything else. Way too shy back then to be creative or clever. My avatar is because some real life friends thought it looked like me... except my hair is not quite so reddish, truly. And my cowgirl hat is way better. :D And back in the days of BIS we all thought it meant "Game Master" and you were like a hardcore DM (not to be confused with DM who was a DM). Oh God, LOL ... little did they know how exactly opposite it was. When I joined bis it was because I was having so much trouble with my game. It was the first ever pc game I played.

  14. Well since I've finished A Dance with Dragons ... and who knows how long it'll be before the next book is released (anyone?) ... I decided to read 'The Host', by Stephanie Meyer. Only about a third of the way through. I'm liking it so far. Heard the movie was awful though so I may not go see it.
  15. I know LOL! So dumb. Not only did it make a mess but it splintered the back wall of the stall. Learned a very important lesson that day I did!
  16. It was necessary, what was Tommy doing when you shot the Coyote? Well, he was growling at the front door downstairs when they first started yapping around the grill. I was by the loft window upstairs. I had it open but I was back in the room about 1 meter from the window so they wouldn't see me. I watched them for about 5 minutes until a really big one came out and started pushing the others around. I figured he was my guy. Once I shot I think tommy went from growling to barking. I'm not sure. My ears are still ringing from firing from inside a small room! I shot a rat (a HUGE rat) one day in the horse barn. The shot blasted its teeth into the wood. Sickening. Next time I shot a rat it was with a 22 and not a shotgun.
  17. Thinly slice some beef and brown it in some taco seasoning. Top them off with that, some sliced or chopped jalapenos, black olives, chopped tomatoes and onions and of course cheese, bake it until the cheese melts and serve with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. End it with some mint ice cream to tone down the onion breath and voila. We do ours pretty much the same way. Add a bit of black beans too though.
  18. Don't forget to tell us how the date went. Well, obviously this is for a woman. But i think you chaps overestimate how hard a souffle is. Modern ovens, and thick glassware make them a doddle. And they are a very good way to deliver a taste kick. You know, in my opinion. What I really need is a system for also dusting some salt-caramel across the top. But i don't thnk that'sppossible without some sort of industrial process and liquid nitrogen. I've never made a souffle in my life. I tend not to make things that a lot of time. Except enchilada's. I'll do that.
  19. I love this post. It's kind of how I feel about some of my old friends from way back. Some of them I'd dearly love to chat with again, only trouble is, I can't find them anymore. I've tried. But I'm also making new friends, even though I don't hang out on the internet like I used to. And I don't do facebook, lol!
  20. Aww thanks Gfted. I look in every once in awhile. Should post more often I suppose. :D
  21. Ha! Me too... spiders I can scoop up with a tissue and take outside, but not those zillion legged, creepy-crawly icky centipedes and the like. Don't like earwigs either. Ewww
  22. Wasn't there a couple who named their kid "@@@@" a few years back? Wonder what became of that.
  23. Oh lol. Those first 3 look like 12 year olds. That last guy and the one with the tatoo aren't bad... nosirree!
  24. Ah, that's good. I was also thinking of Strider too. Not sure how good of friends he and Tarna were, but just seemed Strider got on good with everyone. My email for him no longer works.
