  1. It's too bad there isn't an archive for the old BIS boards, where we could read over some of the crazy stuff we did in wwot. I still have a lot of the RLD, and that's because LC was able to retrieve most of it before the boards were totally gone.

I'm not just talking about this last page, I'm talking about the pages beforehand. Didn't you read it? And the girl on girl.... as long as it doesn't involve me what the heck do I care?

Why do you guys watch it if you don't like it? No way would I continue to watch anything I didn't like, just because it's there. What, you don't have anything better to do? I must be the only one who does like it. I like Claire, I like Peter, I like Hiro, I like most of them. I don't like the Niki/Jessica/Tracy character though. She sucks, and I think the show would do quite well without her.... imo. << I'm only in the middle of season 3 however, where Hiro is a 10 year old in his adult body. I love the comic relief his character gives. And his sidekick, Ando, is the perfect companion for him. I think Claire is great, even if at times she can be agravating. As an actress, she is very good... again imo!! She, besides Peter, is my favorite. I even like her dad, Noah. He was an enigma for so long, and in most ways, still is. I was never quite sure if he is good or bad, although I think good. He loves his daughter, that is real enough to me. I like Elle. At first I couldn't stand her. I always like to see a person not just try, but actually do a turn around in his or her life. She is... and so is Gabriel. All in all, some characters are so silly, and like I said about Ali Larter's characters, the show could probably do without, but for the most part I think it is very entertaining and certainly much different than a lot of the other crap on tv that is so samey.
  4. My very very favorite series is The Wayfarer Redemption series by Sara Douglass. There's 11 books altogether, although the first 3 go under the title name. The Lord of the Rings including The Hobbit I also very much enjoyed The Silmarillion by Tolkien All the Harry Potter books The Clan of the Cavebear series Mary Stewart's 'Merlin' trilogy
  5. Although there are scammers in plenty on craigslist, Ebay is no way the 'safe' bet. Ebay is a hotspot for scammers. They know how to set up a very legitimate account. They're pro's at it. But both places have information on how to spot a scam, you could check it out. I've dealt with scams at both ends of the deal, as a buyer and as a seller and at both places. I take it the craigslist listing is not local to you? I actually sold an old electric typewriter to a sportswriter over in Indiana a couple years ago. Had to be sent close to 2000 miles. But I didn't send it until I had his money in the bank and he suggested waiting the 30 days for my own piece of mind that it was good. Not many buyers will do that. And you being the buyer could alert your bank what you're going to do maybe? Chances are this is probably a legitimate seller. You can always check it with the craigslist forum folks though.
  6. I've read most of the posts in this thread... skipped over pages 8 through 11 I think... and there's been this recurring thought of the borg in my mind. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile. It's as though since the rest of the world has been assimilated, then so must the USA. Well I don't wish to be like the rest of the world. I love my country, very dearly. I don't dislike yours at all. I'm glad you like what you have. They say happiness is in wanting what you have, not in having what you want. I have liberty here...it is what I want. I have the freedom to choose. It saddens me that there are those that want to take that away from us. I'd never wish it for any one of you. Redistribution, or whatever it is you call it, well that is just a fancy word for robbery imo. Why is it certain people don't have health insurance? Perhaps one reason is they choose not to. Another reason is some are too happy sucking off the system to get out and get a job of their own so that they can have health insurance. I surely don't see why those who work hard to make a living should shell out for those who choose not to, and don't tell me that this would not be the case because I know it would. Actually, we already pay for them. Is it wrong to think people should do their own part, and quit depending on handouts from those who work hard? Why should the wealthy be hit hardest with taxes? My former employer was a multi-millionaire. He created his own companies with his own hard work, and hiring those he could depend on. None of those people, including myself, would have had a job with him if he wasn't rich. I'm thankful as hell he had the money to provide such jobs for us. If he was taxed as hard as some here think his kind should be, well I don't know how long his companies would've stood up. And then a lot of people would be without a good job. There are charities for just about every conceivable need, want, mission etc. It's been my experience that people are generous of heart. My gosh, those charities work! And no one has been forced to give, not that I'm aware of anyway. But start forcing people, then it is no longer done with love and true human consideration. It breeds resentments. Anyway this is all I'm going to say for now.
  7. Oh geez... come on. I know what occurred on the day I'm talking about and I tell you now that no way do you even care about documenting via a camera or recording or whatever under such circumstances. You don't even care! It isn't even a mild thought. Now then, I suppose a hoaxer might have time to think and plot about those things all for a million dollars, but the real incidents, if those who witness such react similar to how we did then you just don't even think about it. And there is so a Santa Claus!!!
  8. Personally I don't think there is any hope for rehabilitation. Sooner teach a hawk to sing like a canary. Those boys are what they are, whatever label people wants to give them, they did unacceptable acts... even grinned to the social workers at the hearing!... doesn't seem likely they are candidates for a successful turn around. Putting them in a juvvie with other boys is only putting other boys who do have a chance to be decent contributing members of society at risk. Isolation, with each other! There is the ticket. We can point fingers all we want as to the why's and how's but the fact remains they did terrible harm and that is what needs addressing.
  9. Whoa! That gives me the willies. I don't know, seems rather supernatural to me. Geezie-marie, your guardian angel was watching out for you.
  10. LOL, I did ask them.. when they said it 'stared' at them.. if it had a face! I couldn't understand what else they could've meant by that. My brother said no, of course not, but that they somehow just 'knew' it was looking at them. Oh... I don't use drugs. And the ball lightning, highly doubtful. They seem way too rare for it to have appeared so many times in one night. PoziomyPion, I've heard others talk about seeing those kind of things, and usually it is out in the country. So much more visible. In the city I think those kinds of things are too easily explained away, whereas it is not so convenient when nothing but woods or mountains surround you.
  11. A few years ago when I was still living out at my parents' we had something happen that I still wonder 'what the hell was it'. Several things occurred, all in one early evening after supper. Firstly, I went out to feed the horses. I thought it strange that the old horse was up at the barn. He normally couldn't give a hoot that the stalled horses are getting hay and grain as long as he could stay out to pasture. But here he was, in his stall. I gave him a little stuff, figuring he was just lonely after checking him over to make sure he was fine otherwise. Then our old dog, who has always been an outdoor dog, suddenly began whining, wanting to come in. That was really weird. We have to pretty much force him in when the temps drop below freezing, but here it was just the end of summer. So, I let him in. He paced and drooled all over the utility room floor, so I tried to let him back out but he would hurry away from the door and try to lay under the sink. Weird. It was a night we had a little cousin over staying with my little brother. My parents had gone to a meeting so it was just we 3. I must have went outside to boss them around or something, I forget the reason, but as I did suddenly we heard this god-awful scream. The kind that gives you chills. We all gaped wide-eyed toward the woods. If you've never heard a cougar scream, well it is one of the worst screams you can imagine. We knew they were everywhere (we lived, and still do, at the foothills of the mountains) but to hear one is very rare. Well of course we went flying into the house. We knew there was a cougar out there, very very upset about something. It screamed a few more times. Now I knew why the animals were acting strange. And then came the unexplained. The boys were in the living room and suddenly they screamed. They came running out, their eyes round and terrified. They said there was a fireball looking at them through the window. I thought 'Huh? What the hell?' They described it as basketball sized, but a ball of fire. It just came up to the window, 'stared' at them, then took off. So here they were, huddling around me in the dining room but when I went to go see for myself they wouldn't follow. Well, I didn't see anything out the living room window. I kept looking all around trying to figure out just what they thought they saw. The sun reflecting somehow? But there was no sun visible, it was threatening rain out. We didn't have outdoor lights so that was ruled out.... And then they screamed holy terror again and flew at me from the dining room. They saw it again! This time from the opposite side of the house, from the window there. By this time they were crying and clinging to me. Very hard to move. But I threw them off and went to look. Then here comes the dog, whining and drooling his way down the hall toward us. I wondered what the hell he would tell me if he could talk. So I told the boys to cling to the poor dog while I go tour the house looking for the fireball. I was able to check the bedrooms before they screamed again. This time all 3 came running towards me, dog included. Again again! They saw it looking at them from the dining room window. It just came zooming up, like a spacecraft, looked at them, they screamed and off it took. Like a spacecraft. To this day they maintain that it was exactly as I describe above. I never seen it once. That day. But a year or so later I did see it. A fireball. I saw something out of the corner of my eye, when I looked it took off. It went straight towards the east, then it zagged hard to the south and I never saw it again.

What's wrong with Aristes? I think it is nice. But... we could always call you Acey-poo.

Morally speaking yes! Because someone else may find it otherwise... Walsingham, I don't know that Ace... And yes Amentep, Ace was originally ApocalypseCow. Your memory is better than you think.

I used to do that, years ago. Then one time I wrote what I thought was really stupid, but posted it anyway. It changed my whole life, because I met Ace!!
  15. Hmmm.... I haven't tried personally, but I don't see why you couldn't try them in place of other nuts in recipes. My grandmother had a sweet roll recipe she used to use hazelnuts in. Similar to the sticky buns with pecans. I have no idea whatever happened to that recipe. But your question gives me an idea. We have several wild hazelnuts on our farm. I should go out and pick a few and try them out.
  16. If you have a wok just do a stir-fry. Even if you don't own a wok I suppose a big non-stick skillet could work. Make your sticky rice ahead of time. Just chunk up all your fresh veggies... We use bok choy, sweet onion, broccoli, celery, mushrooms, zucchini and garlic halves. Thin slice a carrot otherwise it takes too long to match the other veggies state of partially doneness. Heat olive oil in the wok (should be semi-high) lightly brown slivered or halved almonds, then add the veggies. Throw in a handful of bean sprouts, add a can of water chestnuts or bamboo shoots (drained of course) and if you have a favorite sauce you can add to taste right at the end. It doesn't take long because you don't want to fully cook the veggies. We usually have chicken or pork with this.
  17. Gullible me was believing every moment of it.
  18. After a full weekend... that fiesta I mentioned in the last thread... I took it easy today. Tended my flowers mostly, then read for awhile before fixing a simple dinner. Now I think I'll kick back some more and watch a dvd.
  19. GH is fun when you're playing by yourself, although I'm not quite as good as the guys playing it. RB is a blast with a group. For some reason I always get stuck with the vocals. It's embarrassing alone, but fun with another vocalist.
  20. I'm always up for a good recipe exchange. Thank you thank you Thank You! The above sounds delicioso. We usually make the jasmine sticky rice as well as pork fried when doing Asian meals. Bbq'ing is commonplace in our house. Charcoal grilling being the best by far. Just did a polled pork on the grill for the 4th. Took 8 hours, constantly adding more charcoals, but is well worth it when meal time comes around. My apologies for derailing this thread you all.
  21. I thought bulgogi sounded familiar... Had to look it up though. I love Korean food! So you must obviously have a recipe Aristes?
  22. My uncle went to woodstock. Said it was the worst thing he'd ever done, the smell was worse than the stinkiest outhouse.
  23. Spent the day shopping for, then preparing all the ingredients for carne asada for tomorrows big fiesta. My fingers are burning something awful from all the peppers, even though I wore gloves. The plus side is that tomorrow the guys will do the grilling and I won't have to do nuttin' but make margarita's and eat. Yee-haw!
